This lodge is the perfect stopover after a long day driving on gravel roads! There is a watching tower from where to admire the sunset in the desert, a pool where to relax just before indulging in a buffet dinner under the stars. Bbq meat includes ostrich, oryx, wildebeest and

We were booked to the associated desert camp, but moved to the logde as our house was out of electricity. Took them 1,5 h to status 'we can' t fix it now'. In the lodge A/C wasn't working, which could be fixed. Slow Wifi only at the bar. Spectacular B&B area, dinner place

Dear Wolf, Thank you for the feedback. Pleased to hear you enjoyed the al fresco terrace for breakfasts and dinners overlooking the beautiful Desert landscapes and waterhole. Our apologies for the inconvenience you experienced when the Desert Camp electricity issue could not be fixed immediately - we are situated more than 300km from Windhoek or Swakopmund and parts that we don't keep on stock is not as regularly available as with lodges closer to major towns. We do regret that you experienced the friendly service of our staff as inefficient - they are continuously trained and always try their utmost to assist our guests to the best of their ability. We hope to welcome you back and wish you a prosperous New Year! Best wishes, The Sossusvlei Lodge Team

There aren’t that many types of luxury accommodation in Sossusvlei so we chose Sossusvlei Lodge. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and taken to our room. First impressions were OK but be warned single beds only! If you want a double bed it will be 2 single beds pushed

Dear James, Thank you for your feedback received. We are really happy that you enjoyed your tour to Sossusvlei with Johannes - we shall most definitely communicate your comments with him! Our room rates are actually the most affordable of the middle to higher end Lodges in this area. The Family Rooms (like the two rooms you occupied) calculate to around 180.00 GBP per room per night including dinner and breakfast. You paid even less due to making use of a discounted rate. Our rooms are all twin configuration with special extra-long ¾ beds pushed together. The twin configuration was made very clear on your reservation so no surprises there. Like mentioned in previous reviews we do not wish to offer Wi-Fi in our guest rooms because we want our guests to slow down, pack away their electronic devices, and enjoy the tremendously beautiful landscape and wildlife that surrounds them. For those that need to work or wish to connect with friends and family Wi-Fi is available in the bar, in the beer garden and in the conference centre. On the morning mentioned Angelina did offer that you can make use of our conference room because the bar is closed until 10H00 AM. You however insisted upon the bar and that is why she eventually called the Duty Manager to open the bar just for you as per your request. To exaggerate about having to sit outside in the cold is rather unnecessary seeing as Angelina offered the Conference Room to you as alternative which is an indoor venue. December is one of our warmest months and morning temperatures are around 22 – 25 degrees so sitting outside in the beer garden would have been quite pleasant. We do however appreciate that you came back to Angelina upon check out and apologised to her for your rather challenging behaviour that morning due to being very stressed. Stress is something we understand very well. Pool cushions are always a bit of a struggle due to our incredibly harsh environment and sun and they generally do not last very long. New cushions have been ordered a while back and we are just waiting for them to arrive. We are famous for our buffet meals and this is also very clearly communicated on our website. We have so much variety on offer it is impossible to sample every dish in one night! For this reason we keep our game meats (7 varieties) and house meat (4 varieties) selection the same while our salads, starters and desserts change. Judging by the very negative reviews you give hotels and restaurants in general we gladly take our very mild write up as somewhat of a compliment! We hope to welcome you back in the near future and wish you and your family a prosperous New Year! Best wishes, The Sossusvlei Lodge Team

We came here just before Christmas after a wonderful, albeit exhausting, drive in a 'normal' car from Cape Town, there were no 4x4s available to hire. The road was very bumpy (when you see a sign in Africa that says 'potholes', you know you're in trouble, so it was with great

Dear Levante, Thanks for your question! The gates to the park opens at Sunrise, thus no, you can enter at sunrise and not before that time. With our location just outside the Park, you can be one of the first in line to enter when the gates open. Best wishes, The Taleni Africa Team

Dear Angela, Yes of course you can make dinner reservations if you stay at another Lodge. If you stay inside the Naukluft National Park you will have to make arrangements to exit and enter the park after hours as the gates close at sunset and only re-open at sunrise. You can make dinner reservations directly at our lodge on email or tel: +264 63 29 3636. Thank you! Best wishes, The Sossusvlei Lodge Team

Use the "onion"strategy: many easy to pack, wear and undress, light layers. Gloves are not needed. No heavy rain coat needed, but a windproof jacket for the fresh morning and evening breezes and for the sundowner.
