These beautifully designed little bungalows are such a treat! Spacious, clean, comfortable and peaceful. The design is based on the Ethiopian tukul houses which means that it stays cool indoors even when outside it’s baking during the day. The service is friendly but quite ditsy and laissez-faire. The “special fuul” breakfast option is delish. Highly recommend this soothing experience.
A well run property, great smoothies, nice breakfast. Rooms are more like small apartments with a bit of exotic flair. Shower pressure and temperature however (best to install a shower stall too) require attention. Away from the city bustle, but well located.
very well run hotel set in a quiet neighbourhood. great value for money. about everything works : internet, TV, hot water... friendly staff, breakfast included. very nice place to take a break in the middle of an Ethiopian tour.
A friend in Dire Dawa recommended African Village and made the reservation for us. What a good find! It's on a quiet side street with little traffic, but is not far from busier parts of town. We had dinner and breakfast there and enjoyed the food and the service. With only 20 rooms we didn't feel lost in the crowd. When we checked in the Swiss manager welcomed us and told us his story. We appreciated the Christian values that he emphasized. Our room (#3) was small but comfortable, and was clean with tasteful decorations. An oscillating fan kept us cool.
Beautiful and relaxing while easy on the wallet - a mixture Ethiopia usually doesn't offer. The place is in great shape, calm, the restaurant with a good menu of a variety of food. Proper swiss quality. A much needed change especially when travelling dir longer in Ethiopia
