After spending a week at Secret Bay we could not be more relaxed. The villas have beautiful views of the ocean and are surrounded with lush vegetation. Each villa has an infinity plunge pool and great deck where you can relax, watch the birds and lizards that call Secret Bay home. The staff is attentive and you are completely pampered having your villa host that cooks you breakfast and helps you organize other meals and anything else you may need. The beach is beautiful, with wonderful shade from the almond trees and the delicious smell of guavas in the air. The snorkeling just off the beach is magical and it was great to have access to kayaks and SUP. Overall it was a lovely experience and the only thing I would ask is the hotel going to reef safe sunscreen to protect the incredible underwater world they have just past their beach.

Pro: Beautiful villas in a unique setting with a fully equipped kitchen. Kayaking to Secret bay is a must when you stay here. Secret bay is a hidden gem, quiet and serene place to enjoy the nature. We also did snorkeling around Secret Bay. Cons: I read a very good review about this property but unfortunately we are not satisfy with the service they had. This trip was for celebrating my husband’s birthday. However, nobody in the resort mentioned or said A Happy Birthday to him during our stay. We didn’t feel that they offered any personalized service from a SIX stars service provider. There was pre-arrival questionnaire that we filled up after booking that gave you high expectation how well you would be taken care of. But that’s not the case, it will be great if the villa host or the concierge briefly read the answers to give a better understanding what the quests looking for during the stay. We reserved this vacation through our virtuoso agent which automatically comes with the Virtuoso perks. And the manager sent me email and made a note saying that they have made some exception for some of this perks that I requested (???) We stayed at many other luxury resorts around the world through Virtuoso agent, but never once experienced that the manager had to approve the virtuoso amenities for the guest. The only thing that I requested before arriving was having the covid test as a requirement to fly back to US. I wish I brought my own antigen test that is available to purchase in US for travel purpose. We wasted more than two hours to wait for the doctor to come. Finally, we finished the test close to 11pm and we had flight early next morning. They said that the doctor had last minute meeting due to Covid. Please don’t level up your expectation if you plan to stay here. The service is not even comparable to the similar luxury resorts that we stayed before. I hope they can improve the guest service in the future.

The word “unique” is overused, but Secret Bay comes as close to a unique luxury experience as I’ve ever had. My family of 4 stayed for a week in a Hillside Ti-Fey villa, which was truly perfect. Separate rooms & bathrooms on each floor meant privacy for the parents and convenience for all. The kitchen is stocked much better than mine at home, with top-flight coffee machine for made-to-order lattes every morning, smoothie blenders, etc. Plunge pool was perfect for relaxing any time of day, and on the hillside you’re under the canopy, with birds singing overhead and tiny lizards staring up at you. Insanely comfortable bed, lovely toiletries, a fridge stocked to your specifications. And to top it all off, personalized attention from your villa attendant, who will cook & clean & generally attend to any need. Our attendant Akima made delicious breakfasts, and was helpful but unobtrusive which I prefer, as it’s hard for me to get used to someone tending to me, even if it IS a vacation. NB: the hillside villas are on a steep incline, with quite a few steps. I think they might not be optimal for anyone with mobility challenges. We dined at Zing Zing 5 of 6 nights, and in-villa once. The food was ultra-fresh, adventurous, healthy AND decadent, all at once. Most of the time we had the chef’s no-menu meal, but a few nights some of us switched out the main course protein, which the kitchen accommodated without question. That flexibility helped with our two teenage boys. It’s a good thing we were staying on the steep hillside and swimming during the day, with 6 nights of Chef Raman’s amazing desserts! For excursions, we did Trafalgar Falls after COVID testing in Roseau, and the Indian River Tour with Fire—both experiences excellent. Don’t rent a car—the driving is pretty intense here and SB’s drivers are wonderful tour guides. Randell had so much info to share on all the communities and sights we passed through—we would not have appreciated this lovely island as much without him. The beach is gorgeous but the water current was fairly strong so be prepared to get your exercise. We only swam around to Secret Beach once, but it was magical and well worth the effort. Follow Julius’ advice at the water sports hut—he knows the water well and will tell you if it’s a good time for a more adventurous swim. Don’t worry if the weather forecast shows rain—we had daily showers that were brief and deliciously cooling. We traveled with my sister’s family, who also stayed in a hillside villa, and SB staff & lovely concierge Lenita were great about coordinating group activities & meals for all 7 of us. This was a once-in-a-lifetime luxury splurge for us, facilitated largely by my father who passed away last year from COVID. He was a bon vivant, foodie & lover of visiting new lands, and our week at Secret Bay was the perfect way to honor his travel legacy!

This is a most beautiful property with exceptional villas with high quality finishes and furniture. The setting in the natural jungle setting is breath taking. The service from every member of this staff was nothing short of exceptional. We travel all over the world and we have not had a better staff experience than here at Secret Bay. We would recommend this property to anyone interested in the very finest eco conscious experience.

Secret Bay is certainly a special place. I hope to answer some of the questions I had before arrival with this review. We traveled for a belated honeymoon and it was worth the wait. Dominica is a bit difficult to get to, but once there you will be transported to a beautiful, lush, and natural island. The drivers are incredible, Tyron and Randall especially. Upon arrival, the Secret Bay staff will whisk you away to your private villa and will ensure that every need is met for a luxurious stay. We stayed in Hillside Villa III. It was secluded as it was perched along the hillside overlooking the ocean. The villas are very large and well-equipped. The private plunge pools are temperature-controlled and are a refreshing way to finish the day. One note--the hillside villas are difficult to access by foot. You often need to call security and wait for a golf cart transport which can be inconvenient at times. Security is always kind and prompt, but next time I would probably opt to stay closer in if you want to enjoy the views/restaurant/beach on foot. The staff at Secret Bay is exceptional and always willing to assist. However, our villa attendant, Racquel, was beyond exceptional. Each morning she made us a breakfast feast showcasing local products and techniques. She alone made the breakfast and dinner package worth it! Don't skimp and just go ahead and do the package. We would be so full that we would skip lunch and just enjoy an early dinner. Racquel went out of her way to make sure that the villa was spotless and that we had everything we needed from a picnic bag to ice for a cooler for the beach to even cleaning our hiking shoes! Racquel is certainly a gem! We ate dinner every night except for one at Zing Zing. Everyone at the restaurant is exceptional and each curates a culinary adventure every evening. We never wanted to miss what the chefs had prepared. Words cannot describe the deliciousness of the food! So amazing! We especially loved Thursday, the romance night, as the staff has placed petals all over the restaurant and the place with aglow in candlelight. The attention to detail was impeccable. The beach is small but gorgeous. Julius was there every day to greet us with beach towels and to help with any kayaking, snorkeling, or paddleboarding. We were the only ones at the beach every day except one. So talk about a private experience! Once our COVID tests cleared, we were able to get out on the island and enjoy local Dominica. We ate at Keepin' It Real per the recommendations of most of the staff. I highly recommend it. One tip--call ahead to see if they have the lobster. For excursions, we went to Middleham Falls and Titou Gorge. Both were picturesque. They are pretty far from the resort, but our driver Randall doubled as our tour guide and made the drive and hike itself so enjoyable. Middleham Falls was a medium-difficult hike just due to the elevation. I don't recommend it for older travelers or those with bad knees. We both are pretty active, but both of our knees hurt the following days. Titou Gorge was our favorite way to cool down after the hike. As the locals say, it is "refreshing." It is very cold upon entry, but after a few minutes, you see what they mean by refreshing. Whether it is these locations or others, you should definitely get out and see real Dominica. Overall, wonderful trip! Secret Bay is rapidly expanding so go enjoy this little piece of heaven before it gets too big.
