This is a beautiful resort for those who want privacy, tranquility and first class service. Our villa was on the hillside and is completely private with a nice ocean view. The staff are super friendly and attentive, nothing ever seemed to be a problem. Our Villa Host made sure we had whatever we wanted in our room and took care of the cleaning etc on our schedule, ie whenever we were out of the room. The Concierge team created a great experience itinerary for us and had no problem with the numerous additions and revisions we made during our stay. Finally the food was superb at the restaurant. I would say it was more European style with perfectly sized portions beautifully prepared and presented .

Of all the Caribbean Islands we’ve visited (most of them). Dominica suits us the best and it’s a shame this is our first visit. It is quiet and unspoiled. We did many hikes and trips into the interior with guides and the flora and bird life was fantastic. It reminded us of some of the hikes we’ve done in the more remote Polynesian islands of the South Pacific. Topping it all are the Dominican people who are amazingly welcoming and friendly. We will be back!

Secret Bay is a destination that will not disappoint. Built into nature, complementing it so that it blends in and utilizes the beauty of the natural surroundings, it was breathtaking from every angle. The all villa concept allows you to feel like you are immersed in nature, with a dedicated villa host and concierge team that support and provide you with a level of service that we have not experienced at very many places.
The team at Secret Bay is truly the greatest asset the resort has ( aside from the natural lush surroundings of course ). Akima, our villa host took wonderful care of us during our stay. Without a doubt, she was one of the main reasons we had such a positive experience. She cooked us breakfast ( oftentimes with last minute food requests from me ), made dining reservations, brought us treats every night from the wonderful pastry chef, and made sure our living quarters were clean and tidy. We so appreciate her service.
Fabio and the culinary team at Zing Zing were phenomenal, making each dining experience unique and delicious ( Valentines Day was over the top spectacular ).
Moheid took wonderful care of us at the beach side pool each day, and Minasa provided great service at the spa ( I had three treatments during our stay ).
To Gregor and Sandra, thank you for sharing this wonderful spot, we are so glad we were able to come and stay. Wishing Secret Bay a very bright future !

Warmest regards
Michael and Noelle Podoba

My wife and I just returned from a week at Secret Bay to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We had high expectations for the trip given what we had read, and I'd say it lived up to or exceeded all of our expectations. The villas are spectacular, the location is breathtaking, the food was phenomenal, and best of all, the people and service were so kind and generous. More on each below, but you won't regret a trip to Secret Bay or Dominica. You could spend your entire trip on property and be perfectly happy, or venture out and discover this beautiful island like we did. It will be a trip to remember either way.

The Villas:
We stayed in the Zabucco 2 Honeymoon Villa. It felt like we were in our own secret spot in the jungle with the amenities of a presidential suite at any 6 star hotel in the world with incredible views of the Caribbean. We used the plunge pool every day (it was bigger than expected, and can be set to the temperature of your liking), spent endless hours in the super comfy bean bag hammock hanging under our villa feeling the steady breeze, and slept like babies on the most comfortable bed and linens. The villa is separated between sleeping quarters and a kitchen and living room, each with their own temperature control. This was ideal, because you can open all of the sliding doors in the living area and feel like you're outside. The appliances were modern, everything you'll need, and it was nice to have a TV with Apple TV (yes even in a tropical paradise it can be nice to binge some shows in the evening after a long day hiking, on the water or lounging).

The Food:
We honestly didn't know a ton about Dominica when we booked this trip. Turns out, its a tropical rainforest rich in vegetation with a huge focus on staying local and sustainability (lives up to its name as the nature island). This comes through in everything Secret Bay does with food. Our mornings were filled with local eggs, fresh fruit juices from whatever was in season on the island, and lunches and dinners at the pool, at Zing Zing, or in your villa. We loved the no menu concept at Zing Zing, it was different every night, a good mix of meat and fish, and they take this approach because they can serve whatever is the freshest and available. Our breakfasts were prepared each day in villa by our wonderful villa host Tashida. She was an amazing cook and would make whatever we wanted. Do yourself a favor and try a traditional Dominican breakfast at least once. It's also worth venturing off property for a meal or two to experience what the island has to offer. Anyone you ask will tell you to check out "Keepin it real", listen to them, you can spend a whole afternoon there eating fresh fish or chicken with classic Domincan sides and rum punch right on the beach.

My wife and I booked a Ylang Ylang Villa for March break 2020 and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Canada started it's lock down for COVID19 the day before we left but we decided to go anyway. We couldn't have picked a better place to be while the world was coming to grips with a global pandemic.

The Villa was amazing. An outdoor kitchen overlooking the trees and water. Our own little pool with sun deck. A great room with comfortable bed, modern soaker tub/shower, and great vanity area with lots of light, mirrors, and storage. Waking up to the sounds of the birds and a welcome hello when our hostess came to make our breakfast was wonderful.

The food was an important part of the experience. Many new dishes we've never had before made with local fish, plants, and herbs. We highly recommend at least one dinner cooked in your villa by the resort chef.

The beach is a short walk away and it's beautiful. Lots of great coral and fish right off the shore. Make sure to bring your mask and fins but if you forget, don't worry. There's a little hut there fully stocked with everything you could ask for, from drinks to sporting equipment etc...

I've saved the best for last. The most amazing thing about Secret Bay was the people. The resort manager always making sure everything was OK, our villa hostess who took care of everything we needed, the chef, the beach hut staff, and the grounds maintenance people. All amazing. We also did a rain forest walk, a day trip, and a spear fishing excursion. Everyone was great!

It was a crazy time. By the end of our stay we were the only ones left at the resort. Dominica hadn't had any cases of COVID19 while we were there. With all the uncertainty the staff never let us feel like anything was wrong. With everything going on in the world, paradise felt untouched.

Thanks to everyone at Secret Bay. We had a great time and can't wait to come back.

My wife and I visited Secret Bay for one week at the beginning of February. We stayed in the beautifully appointed Ylang Ylang Villa #2 and were very well taken care of by our dedicated villa attendant, Karina. Serene, tranquil, utterly relaxing, natural, friendly, exquisite, are all words I would use to describe our experience at Secret Bay. We participated in a number of private excursions while there including :an exploration of flora and fauna with the immensely knowledgeable "Dr. Birdie"; jumping from the rocky cliffs into Chaudiere Pool; swimming at the gorgeous Batibou Beach; and sampling some great local chocolate making, the latter all with Randall our capable and conscientious guide and driver. On our last day, we enjoyed a snorkelling expedition with Captain Don, who not only captained the vessel but also snorkelled with me and facilitated seeing fish and other species that my untrained naked eye would have otherwise missed. All of these excursions and our timetables were expertly organized by Lenita, the resort's always friendly, smiling and efficient Guest Services Manager and Concierge. While at Secret Bay, we availed ourselves of the Chef's Choice Culinary Adventure package for our dinner meals. Chef Grant's various offerings, made with ingredients mostly sourced locally, were delicious and beautifully prepared and presented and were served in either our villa by charming Karina, or at the Zing Zing restaurant. We chose to eat most of meals at the Villa, including the preparation of our own breakfasts from the well stocked and continuously replenished breakfast basket provided. Transfers to and from the airport were seamlessly and professionally made by Tryrone and Ryan.

Secret Bay was a thoroughly enjoyable and unique experience. The island of Dominica is a beautiful and natural place. A number of new resorts are being/have been constructed in recent years, including a major expansion of Secret Bay, which is now underway. To date, airlift has been one of the limiting factors in the growth of tourism on the island but I understand that this is about to change with the construction of a new and larger airport. The challenge will be to retain the character and charm of the place requiring a very thoughtful tourism development strategy on the part of business, government and the people of this beautiful island, working together.

This is a most beautiful property with exceptional villas with high quality finishes and furniture. The setting in the natural jungle setting is breath taking. The service from every member of this staff was nothing short of exceptional. We travel all over the world and we have not had a better staff experience than here at Secret Bay. We would recommend this property to anyone interested in the very finest eco conscious experience.

It’s hard to know where to start when describing our experience at Secret Bay! It’s so many things, both big and little things, and their attention to every detail. We stayed in Ylang Ylang villa 1.
Our Villa felt as if we were perched among the treetops with beautiful panoramic views of the sea and the forest. Privacy and seclusion were complete. We felt at home and peaceful within moments of arriving. The villas with your own temperature controlled pool really encourage romance. Our kitchen was well outfitted with everything we could need ( including dishwasher and washer/dryer) on the porch so we could cook accompanied by birdsong. The soaking tub and rain shower were heavenly as were the Dominican spice scented soaps and body butters. Games, books, sunscreen, mosquito repellant, bay leaf hand sanitizer were all provided.
We were greeted with Secret Bay gifts at the airport and at our villa.
Every single member of staff was warm, welcoming, professional and helpful.
Our breakfast basket was full of everything we needed including an amazing assortment of local fruit, lemongrass iced tea, and star fruit jam. The basket was happily replenished whenever we ran out of items.
Brianna was our Villa host and she provided us with exceptional service. We really appreciated her care and attention and her willingness to fulfill requests that made our experience truly personal. She was always easily available by phone and checked on us as well as sent us greetings at the beginning and end of each day. It was great to be able to arrange housekeeping at a time that was convenient to us so we could sleep in or get up early depending on how we felt.
I had a divine rose/peppermint massage by Tilly at the spa. I highly recommend a massage to the sound of waves.
The beach was secluded, calm and manned by very helpful staff.
We were surprised with generous gifts for our anniversary and on our departure and delightful desserts for our turn down service each night.
I could go on and on.
Secret Bay is worth every cent.
This was our best anniversary and we have had 38!
Can’t wait to get back to Secret Bay.

We were looking for somewhere special and different to celebrate my 50th birthday, and we didn’t go wrong by choosing Dominica or Secret Bay.

The island of Dominica is different from anyplace we’ve traveled to and has much more to offer than just nice beaches. Dominica is beautiful, green and lush with rainforests, mountains, 365 rivers—one for each day of the year!—hot springs, and of course beautiful beaches. The scenery is breathtaking and there is more than you’d ever be able to see or do during your stay.

The concept at Secret Bay is unique with each guest’s stay customized to their interests and preferences by their villa host and a member of the concierge team. From the minute we arrived at the airport and were driven to our gorgeous villa to be introduced to our host, everything was taken care of for us — prestocking the villa with the snacks we liked, arranging for that evening’s dinner, etc. The first morning, we met with the concierge to let him know the types of activities we’d like to do while on the island and he planned a full itinerary with all arrangements including private drivers and guides.

Every member of the Secret Bay staff was warm and friendly, and always made sure we had what we wanted. The restaurant team planned a wonderful birthday celebration one evening, the water sports team helped us kayak to the secret beach for the afternoon and set up a picnic for us to enjoy, and each one of the drivers and guides were engaging and interesting. We had a great time cooking dinner in our villa one evening with the executive chef!

The person who really set this vacation apart was our villa host, Tashida. She took incredible care of us by cooking breakfast each morning, tidying the room, restocking the provisions in the villa, checking to make sure we had everything we needed for a day out, packing lunches and refreshments when we’d be away for the day and anything else we might have wanted or needed. She never missed a detail or an opportunity to make things special, like leaving surprises for us, or planning a special dinner on our cliff top deck with twinkle lights. She also mixes a mean cocktail :).

Our vacation at Secret Bay was the most relaxing I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to go back!

Secret bay was probably the most accommodating resort I have ever been to. From having our own personal staff member to cook us breakfast each morning to packing us lunches on our boat trips and everyone in the restaurant being in line with our food requirements (halal meat & lactose free), we truly felt taken care of. A special request for a towel to pray on the wooden cabin floor was received and thoughtfully implemented with a thick comfortable blanket - a kind gesture that made our stay even sweeter. The actual 'Secret bay' beach was by quite far the best and my favourite amongst the beaches we visited in Dominica. As a Hijab wearing woman, privacy of the villas was adequate and I even enjoyed swimming within the 'secret bay' beach without a scarf for quite some time before people showed up. The only advice I would give if you want to have the best stay possible in Dominica is to choose a cooler time of year as it can get quite warm and humid. The staff were friendly, spoiled us with daily afternoon cake in the villa and looked after us with hospitality as if we were a guest in their own home - not to mention an iphone was given to us so we could contact them wherever we were on the Island! It was a holiday to remember.

The staff at Secret Bay works hard to make sure every detail is taken care of. Whether it's planning your itinerary during your stay or having a meal at the Zing Zing Restaurant or getting a massage at the spa, they make sure to take good care of you. Our Villa Host, Shenelle, made sure that everything was tended to for us and always went above and beyond to make sure that our honeymoon was special. She deserves every accolade that can be given. Our guides and concierge also made sure that we could see the beautiful sites of the island (such as snorkeling in Champagne Reef, hiking to Trafalgar Falls, or swimming through Titou Gorge). Whether you want to spend your trip relaxing by your pool or at the beach or exploring all of the wonderful sites of Dominica or some combination of the two, you can't ask more for more at Secret Bay.

Hello Robbie, Our Tibay beach is accessibly by foot or through a chauffeur-driven golf cart, bookable though your dedicated villa host or concierge. The Tibay beach is just 2-3 minutes away from the villas should you decide to walk.

Hello Aimee and Gabe, The best time for Dominica is actually October - May. June onwards gets much warmer but again great for some specific experiences and family getaways. The weather can be slightly unpredictable at times being the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. Are you looking at exploring the island and any specific experiences so that we can guide you better.
