We've visited Hotel Del Cardo twice. We are from the U.K. and came across Del Cardo on a trip the the Stelvio Pass. We'd had enough driving for the day so pulled into the first hotel we came across. We're so glad we did. We couldn't have been made more welcome. Every member of the staff is a delight, from the owner and his daughter Sara, right through to the chamber maids. The food is excellent, cooked by the mother of the family (mind you, where is the food not good in Italy!), and the rooms are nice, clean and everything you could expect at the price. And there's a stunning view down the valley from the large terrace that catches the sun beautifully on a nice day. The communal areas are nice to and the lounge with all the antlers is a favourite. And what's really nice is, you feel like you're at a proper Italian hotel, not something that is overrun with tourists from your own country. There seemed to be lots of Italians there which made us feel like we were getting a real flavour of Italy. Our first visit was as a couple. Our second visit was with out 8 month old baby and we were stunned at how engaged with our child they were. They would even whisk her off from the diner table once she'd been fed and play with her so that we could have ten minutes to ourselves with our food. It's not over egging it to say we were made to feel part of the family. The hotel is excellently located for Livigno, Bormio and the Stelvio Pass, being central and but a short distance from all three while avoiding the expense you might incur by staying in a central location. The Swiss border is only short drive away which gives great options for day trips. The best recommendation we can give is that we went there once, and came back again. And we will be visiting again in the future. Lovely hotel. Highly recommended.

We had just crossed the Stelvio Pass and this lovely hotel is not far. Be aware that some motor cycles traveling to and from the Pass make an appalling racket although this is only during some parts of the day. I don't know how the local people put up with it. Happily we spent a superbly comfortable and quiet night there. Tremendous views. Our room was superb. - it looked recently refurbished and featured a bath for two. Dinner was simple, tasty (regional food e.g. bollito misto) and more than adequate. Good wine. Staff helpful and charming - we were made very welcome despite our inability to speak Italian. Lots of local people seem to eat there and the atmosphere was wonderful.

I have been there various times and I have always found a nice environment, good food and a more yhan reasonable price. Well, itsn't so close to the main centers, like Bormio, (a distance of 3.4 Km.) or Livigno (7-8 Km.), but one can reach both places in a few minutes, with the advantage of not being in the caos of those centers. This is a definite advantage for those people who like to relax and a disadvantage for those who like to share day and night life.

It was one of my best ski holidays. The stuff is very kind, they do their best to make your holiday as perfect as it can be. We had a room in the old building. It was clean and comfortable, but a bit old fashioned. The kitchen is absolutely the best I've ever tasted in such a hotel. If we had any special wish, it was on our plate for the next day. I felt myself as I was at one of my friends place.
