We had chosen Coral Sands Beach resort for a few relaxing days on the beach before flying home, and it was overall a good choice. The hotel is a bit aged, despite the nice outer appearance, and a typical American style hotel. The rooms were spacious, ours with direct view on the ocean, and a nice balcony and bathroom. We had a small kitchenette to prepare breakfast and enjoyed it on our balcony overlooking the sea. In front of the hotel is a small and quiet beach, and one can take the sunbeds from the hotel to the beach, or stay inside the guarded area at the pool. Service was varying depending who was at the lobby. We had two very nice gentlemen being very responsive, but also one lady being quite customer-unfriendly (whom we avoided after the first day whenever possible). Also the service at the pool bar was poorly. The hotel is in walking distance to St. Lawrence Gap, a small beach street with many bars and restaurants, which was great to get good seafood and a nice cocktail in the evening. So overall a good choice, although (like all we experienced in the Carribean) a bit overpriced.…
The hotel is accessed from a short lane leading off the main road in a not particularly attractive section of St Lawrence Gap. Nevertheless, the hotel looked far more attractive than the buildings close to it. The reception and interior were equally attractive, but not distinctive or memorable. Our room on the third floor was spacious and comfortable, overlooking the beach. The hotel dining room was rather uninviting and the service was typically slow, but also rather awkward in terms of communication and the uneasiness of the staff. On the whole though, a pleasant hotel providing fair value.
My daughter and I have visited Barbados on several occasions, staying in a variety of apartments, condos or hotels. Without doubt this hotel is the best, it has everything and more for the perfect holiday . The location could not be beaten, a leisurely walk to Accra Beach in one direction or to The Gap in the other direction. If you are feeling lazy, then it is easy to pick up a ZR from the top of the quiet road which leads to the hotel. The very helpful staff on reception arranged a taxi for us one night when it was raining. The hotel itself is immaculately clean with colourful Bajan decor . The swimming pool area is lovely and there was always a comfy sun bed available. The beautiful beach is right in front of the hotel and the waves are quite gentle , unlike those in other nearby beaches. There are lots of bars and restaurants in easy walking distance, and a very smart supermarket two minutes away. The staff are great, and kindly arranged two adjacent rooms for us and our friends. The view from our second floor balcony was amazing. We can’t wait to return.…
Unless you want the trappings and prices of Sandy Lane, this hotel is prefect. It is right on the beach and has its own pool. The rooms are exceptionally spacious, very well equipped (including a kitchen and good air conditioning), very clean and have large balconies overlooking the sea. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the "old colonial" style of the building gives it extra charm. There is no restaurant for the evenings but there is a good range of places within a few minutes walk. The location is about equidistant from the airport and the harbour.
We really loved this private and clean hotel that had a beautiful view of the ocean. We got to watch the sunset every single night. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's in walking distance to lots of great places to eat. Can't wait to stay here again.
The hotel is a little older but in great shape. Big room with kitchen. Pretty sure all the rooms face the ocean, but ours did. Nice pool. Right on the beach. Close to the gap. All the right ingredients for a great vacation. Reasonably priced and worth a return on our next time in Barbados!!
I did a lot of research before selecting Coral Sands, including reading loads of travel site reviews. No real surprises and I was very pleased with my selection. I would stay there again and it felt like a home. It has a very friendly laid back feel to it, the staff quickly start to recognize you, which room you are in, they remember things you've told them or activities you did, etc. and you feel like you are staying at a guest house versus a hotel. The vibe and smaller size helps set a friendly tone throughout the property, you recognize other guests in the neighborhood and it's easy to strike up conversations. Instead of repeating pretty much what everyone else says, I'll just add a few tips from my experience. 1. Don't be shy when it comes to questions. The staff were responsive to my emails before the trip and any questions I had while there. Some of the staff can appear a bit reserved but once you engage they are very helpful and willing to share information. 2. The hotel doesn't supply any of those assumed toiletries that have become standard in many places, so if you have those little shampoos, lotions, etc. this is your opportunity. They did supply little bars of soap and kleenex, but otherwise you are on your own. Same with the kitchen. There was a salt and pepper shaker and coffee filters but that was it. I did appreciate that housekeeping would wash any dishes I used so I didn't need to purchase dish detergent. There are lots of stores very nearby to purchase anything you need but depending upon how long you are staying, it might be easier (and cheaper) to just bring a few things from home in small sizes. 3. The balcony doors are a bit weird. The sliding screen doors have huge gaps on the sides, so if you are worried about bugs, you end up needing to keep the glass doors shut and the a/c on. It would have been nice to get some fresh air, especially when things cooled down. Though, you could still hear the ocean through the glass. It was nice that there are black out shades since it does get bright early in the mornings. I enjoyed my stay a lot and felt prior reviewers gave great feedback so i knew what to expect. I think it's priced extremely well for what you get. The combination of the location, the beach, the variety of shops and restaurants nearby, access to public transportation, and the caliber of the hotel, is phenomenal as compared to many other properties or areas I saw, even if those places appeared more high end or offered more in terms of specific services or amenities. Lovely hotel and lovely experience.…
Stayed at this hotel a few times and each time had no problems at all. The beach right outside the hotel is clean and plenty going on. Getting into the Gap is easy - either along the road or for the majority along the beach. The staff are all helpful and friendly
Excellent value for money. Lovely chilled down to earth place and walking distance to all you need. Yes there are a couple of things missing - no late check outs, no welcome drink on arrival, no provisions provided (although the cleaning lady did get me some washing up liquid when I asked where I could find someone).gorgeous sunsets from all balconies, lovely pool area, helpful staff and tasty food at the beach bar. For a Barbados vacation at a reasonable price point, this delivers.
My husband and I just returned from our 4th trip to wonderful Barbados and 2nd time at this lovely hotel. We were on the floor beneath the Penthouse and had an OUTSTANDING view. The rooms are quite large as is the deck - where we stood to watch the sunset every night. We even ordered dinner twice and ate out on our deck as there really is no better view. The hotel staff was amazing. We used the lounger chairs out on the beach which worked out great. Sitting by the pool was wonderful. We walked all over town and never felt edgy or uncomfortable - everyone we passed said hello! I highly recommend Happy Days Cafe in the Gap for a great breakfast. I would also recommend a visit to the Round House restaurant/hotel in Bathsheba (the other side of the island). This is our favorite vacation destination and hotel. While we did have people ask us if we wanted to buy things at the beach, they were few and far between and were just fine when we said no thank you - we were never harassed. I will say that I do agree with an earlier reviewer about the cars parking on the beach at the entrance being somewhat annoying because they do park in the shady spots. Having said that, everyone has a right to enjoy the lovely beach and they never crossed the front of the driveway onto the actual area in front of the resort - so not a big deal. We were also lucky enough to see many turtles in front of the hotel! We cannot wait to return!…
