Portes Beach Hotel has been lauded for its exceptional cleanliness, friendly staff, and engaging atmosphere, catering to those seeking a lively getaway. While guests appreciate the large rooms and various amenities, including diverse dining options and beach access, some have voiced concerns over the air conditioning efficiency, dated decor, and repetitive children's events. The remote location is mitigated by a complimentary shuttle service, and while opinions on value vary, the option to upgrade to all-inclusive is popular among travelers looking for convenience.

Excellent holiday with my wife, daughter, husband and two young children. The hotel is perfect for a young family with the children's splash pool, kids disco and free kayaks and pedalos. The food is very tasty with plenty of choice you can sit inside or outside. Staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble, a special mention of the waitress Vasso who was so helpful. Face masks and disposable gloves were provided free and used when moving round the restaurant. The grounds are well kept with flowers and trees and the beach sandy, shallow with plenty of sunbeds. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The reception printed off our PLF forms for travel home. The bar staff so patient and the animation Chris and Norman organised the games to suite and most of the entertaining shows. There were two speciality acts Greek dancers, organist and singer. Rooms are clean and modern in blocks with three levels but no lifts that I saw. The complex is perfect and only downside is there is no little village within close walking distance. Thanks again to all the staff.

We booked this around 6 weeks prior to travel, with Jet2, all inclusive, myself, husband and 13 yr old daughter. I had very mixed feelings, based on the varied reviews, but feel compelled to add my thoughts ..
Stepping off the coach, the hotel is slap bang on a busy dual carriageway and doesn't look hugely appealing. Once inside, however, it is like a little oasis. The restaurant, pool area and beach are (in my opinion) some of the best I have encountered at an AI resort (and this includes Dubai, Kenya, Spain etc). Everywhere was exceptionally clean, including the toilets around the pool and beach. The pool was really clean, and I never witnessed anyone slipping over, probably due to the lifeguard constantly mopping and keeping it tidy. The beach is fab, with plenty of available sun beds. It is very stony leading into the water, and swim shoes really are a must, but the water is clear and cool.
We found food options to be good - varied with lots of lovely fresh salads, dips, pasta, meat/fish etc. There's a great array of wonderful fresh breads, and always several dessert options too, plus ice cream/pizza/hot dogs around the pool.
Yes, the rooms are a little small and dated, and for the first couple of hours we found the aircon to be fairly ineffective, but once we'd acclimatised, the room was perfectly comfortable. the cleaners did a great job, we returned to the room every day to find it clean and smelling fresh.
For us, the lack of noisy entertainment was a real bonus; our week away was all about rest and relaxation, lots of lovely food, afternoon coffee and cake (pool area), swimming in the clear sea, then a few drinks after dinner in the lobby area, teaching our daughter some card games. We also took part in the pool activities - aqua fit/yoga/water polo etc. It's definitely NOT the place to go if you want full on 24/7 entertainment and lager louts ! I would say Brits were in the minority during our week, but the whole vibe was peaceful and happy.
To sum up, if you're looking for a small, low key AI option, set in nice grounds with good food and a cracking pool/beach, then don't overlook this hotel

We spent 2 weeks at the Portes Beach Hotel in July 2022. We were all inclusive and found the food to be varied and fresh. I particularly enjoyed lunch in the open air restaurant. We are a family of 3 and found the rooms clean and comfortable. I loved the location of the hotel as I love to swim in the sea, meanwhile my husband and 13 year old enjoyed the pool. I joined in the daily yoga/Pilates and aqua gym while my daughter enjoyed darts and table tennis. It is a quiet, family hotel and it is not walking distance to local villages but the hotel does provide free shuttle buses. I hired a paddleboard and there’s options of jet skis, boats, if you like water sports. We also rented a car and enjoyed sightseeing in Kassandra and Sithonia.

Overall, if you’re looking for a quiet family beach holiday - this is ideal. If you are looking for nightlife or a hotel in a busy tourist resort then this won’t suit. We loved it and thought it was excellent value for money.

Overall, the hotel is not bad. If I hadn’t stayed previously in other 4 star hotels around here, would rate it even higher.
It’s clean, there is plenty of food at all times. Especially we appreciate that the water is provided in 1.5l bottles; the drink selection is limited, but not bad. Cocktails simple, but tasty.
But what I can’t express enough is how horrible to nonexistent the internet is. Works fine at the lobby area, but other than that.. even instant messages won’t go through. There is no chance we can put on some cartoons in critical moments with our toddler, and we are unable to use our baby monitor.
The big pool is great with warm water and all, but why cold water in the splash pool? I mean it is a pool for little ones, the water should be warmer there.
The food selection is average, yet tasty. Very poor choice of fish. No sea food. Can’t imagine being in Greece and not to be able to have decent fish. No drinkable yogurt (I think that it is a must have for babies and toddlers).
You can tell the hotel is really old. It has been touched up throughout the years, but the furniture remains the same, old fashioned. Same goes for doors. Poor sound isolation. Empty mini bar. No coffee maker nor kettle. Very hard mattresses. No hotel slippers provided.
We were provided only one key, and in addition to not having internet, it is frustrating to coordinate.
Again, it is possible that my previous hotel experiences might have spoiled me and all this is normal, but unfortunately that was the reality for us. At least our toddler has fun.

Dear Monica P, We really appreciate you positive points of your review. We apologise that our facilities did not fully satisfy your expectations. Please note that the rooms have fridge for the guests to use (not mini bar). Also, kettles are upon request and can be provide free of charge. Finally, key cards for the rooms are free of charge and in case you need more than one, you can just ask at the reception you for extra keys. Regarding the other issues, thank you for taking the time to bring these to our attention and we will use your feedback to improve our services even further. Spotlessly clean throughout this hotel, whether that be in the reception area or poolside.
Yes this complex is very secluded but we were aware of that before we arrived. It actually made for the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. We just lazed about the pool or beach all day long. We even had a couple of evening swims in the sea as we watched the spectacular sunset.

I thought the food in the taverna at lunchtime was very good and a brilliant idea that it was literally a few steps from the poolside. The food in the main restaurant on an evening was also fine. We only did breakfast on our last day as we had to be up for our airport transfer.
All staff that we encountered were very friendly and eager to please.

“Entertainment” on an evening was terrible unless you were aged 7 or under. That said, the younger children did look to be enjoying themselves dancing along to the same tunes in the exact same order every single night apart from one. There were loads of people (including us) who just had a few drinks and played cards, as there really wasn’t anything else to do.

The main pool was excellent with arranged activities daily, ie aerobics and water polo. The downside of the pool area was that we witnessed time and time again people slipping on the very very slippery tiles. As the complex is in the middle of nowhere I thought it ridiculous that the pool itself closed at 6:00, as there was still a couple of hours sunshine left and other than return to your room, not much else to do.

Nice quality shampoos and conditioner in the room. The 1.5 litre bottles of cold water that you got free from behind the bars to take to your room was an excellent touch, as were the daily fresh towels to take to the beach or pool.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely return.

Very nice hotel by the beach, not too crowded, with a great kids pool and nice activities.
The staff is super friendly and attentive.
We had an all inclusive stay, and the drinks and food were very good. They had gluten free bread and cookies as well 😉
The only bad comment I could make is the room that was a bit old fashion, with no decoration at all, not like on the pictures. This was a bit of a disappointment. Also, we could hear the water running down when our upstairs neighbour used the toilets. Our room was right next to the lunch kitchen so we heard many kitchen noises in the afternoon, but this didn't bother us.
On a nice final touch, I visited the aegeo Spa in the hotel and got a wonderful foot massage by Stamatis 😊

Well what can I say, can't recommend this place enough for a young family that just want a chill out. I was a little worried about reading the previous reviews but I now know to just not trust trip reviews.

Getting there you can really tell it's a 4 star, your greeted with beautiful friendly ladies in a grand entrance.

The rooms are really nice, for Greece you always expect basic rooms but here you can see they are really putting in the effort to make them special. The bathrooms are very modern and clean, each room comes with a fantastic balcony.
The beds are firm so after the last night I was glad to get back home to my own bed but some people like that, I know my partner loved the bed.
The cleaners are so friendly and do an amazing job of doing a total clean of the place while you out, they even put my sons teddy bear on his pillow everyday and they even tried talking to him every time they passed but he's far too shy to say hello back.

The whole resort is kept nipping clean, the gardens are lush and the beach is raked, just a warning though the beach is a heavily stone beach it is not recommended to walk down it, we learned that the hard way.

The drinks and bar staff are fantastic, everyone is so friendly that works here.
We were all inclusive and I have to say that was the only let down of the holiday.
The food was really nice don't get me wrong but when in Greece you want traditional Greek food and for us there just wasn't enough on offer, It would be nice to see more traditional stuff up for grabs. I understand they are catering for the masses of fussy eaters so it makes sense but still more Greek food please.

The night time entertainment is steered towards kids so don't expect much if your a young couple, but for us as a family it was brilliant and also it's in such an amazing spot in the world to sit with a cocktail and watch the sunset.

If your an adventure type of family then you will not find a lot to do outside the hotel, there is a free shuttle bus to two nearby town which I highly recommend you check out because some of the places to eat there are brilliant and really cheap. Other then that it's a relaxing holiday.

I could recommend this hotel all day for family's looking to relax, its beautiful place with amazing and beautiful staff all round.
I would definitely go back again, even as a couple to chill with cocktails at the sunset.

Positives

Lovely and clean hotel
Staff friendly and helpful
Facilities are good - swimming pools are great
Food and drink available throughout the day. This includes snacks at the pool bar.
There was a range of different dishes all tasty.
Rooms cleaned daily
Beds comfortable

Negatives

Air condition across the hotel is just not cold enough - fans were provided.
Beware of very slippery surfaces around pool areas. The pool area could do with more clean up for cups etc at different points during the day (alternatively guests could bother to clean up after themselves). Quite isolated but there is a limited shuttle service available.

Would book again!

We went to this hotel in August 23 with our 2 children age 9 and 12 for 2 weeks. We enjoyed the days in the sun, being close to the beach and pools. The sea was lovely and warm and you could always get a sunbed. If you are AI you can use the pedlow for free 30 mins per day.
The bar/restaurant/entertainment and cleaning staff all work incredibly hard and we found them all plesent.

Please be aware of the floor around the pool as its majorly slippy. We saw lots of kids go flying. It needs something doing to stop it being so slippery.

For us it was the nights we found difficult. We like a hotel that you have an option to go and walk to some shops/bars or restaurants, but at this hotel there is nothing. You can go on the shuttle bus in the morning to either local villages, but to be honest we didn't think much of them and ended up getting a taxi back. By the second week we had all had enough of the entertainment and were pretty bored and our kids had, had enough. I think it's more suited to families with really small children.

The room we're ok, very dated but clean ish. They did not look anything like the lovely rooms on website. Our sliding wardrobe door kept falling off and everytimr they tried to fix it, it came off again and luckily it was on me and not the kids because it was heavy with a big mirror down the middle. They must of decided it was beyond repair in the end because it vanished out of our room. The bathroom was a bit sad and because of no ventilation a bit mouldy. The window in our bathroom opened up into a cleaning cupboard, therefore not letting any of the steam out. This made the bathroom and shower floor really slippy and made mouldy bits and a yucky shower curtain.

The food in the restaurant was ok with a few different choices but our kids struggled.

All in all, we had an ok 2 week holiday and enjoyed the sun and beach. We met some lovely people, but unfortunately we wouldn't return as it was not for us.

We are a family of three: mom, dad, and a 4-year old daughter. We enjoyed our stay in Portes Beach Hotel a lot. The territory is beautiful, full of flowers, and is very green. There is a kids pool with three different slides in it - kids love it, and an accommodated playground is nearby. In the evening you can watch the stunning sunset near the sea right at the playground while your kid is busy climbing the slide :)
The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and were helpful if we had any issues or requests.
The territory of the hotel is not too big, but everything is located near and you can reach the beach from the pool in 2 min, which is comfortable.
There is not a fashionable interior in the rooms, but our room was cozy and the air-conditioning worked well :)

We will likely choose this hotel for our family next time when we are in Chalkidiki.
