Visited here last year but only just getting round to writing a review. Overall this is a lovely hotel and fitted what we needed for the week. The hotel is on a hill and there are no lifts up to rooms so wouldn’t recommend this for anyone who is elderly. The hotel is a 10-15 min walk to bars and restaurants. There are a number of cocktail bars but if you are looking for night clubs etc this probably isn’t the place. Staff were friendly at this hotel and overall we found the service to be good and the bar sufficient for our needs. The rooms could do with being a little bigger for those sharing but for one week we didn’t mind. Thank you!
Booked with jet2.com, paid £378 with flights, got there just after midnight so not great flight times, room of good size and basic with fridge and kettle. Decent size balcony, the beds not great as back ache in morning. Our room at the top of the complex, close by the pool area with terrace and dining room serving breakfast which was good, it is Greece so not expecting too much other than nice breads, cereals, and a decent coffee machine. We found most of the staff friendly and helpful although when we checked out late we paid extra as our fight was evening time , paid €25 for an extra 4 hours which was ok but checked in originally very late and there was no one in our room after us as closing down for the end of season so thought it was a bit tight of them charging us this much. The location is great with only about 5 minutes walk from beach, bars, restaurants and supermarkets in hanioti. Other small grumble was WiFi only in reception area, these days almost every hotel around Europe offer it in bedrooms free of charge.…
The rooms here are basic but kept very clean, the beds were comfortable not the usual biscuit thin mattresses, the staff are all very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. We stayed bed & breakfast basis and found the breakfast adequate it comprised of a buffet with a selection of both hot and cold which catered for most diets. We attended the Friday evening bbq which also was the staff end of season party and we were made to feel most welcome and involved in some Greek dancing, we would recommend this place to anyone who doesn’t mind a 5 minute walk into the town. The pool is located at the top of the complex and is a fair size with plenty of sun beds and tables / chairs A huge thank you to all the staff especially Katarina, Alexandra & Kostasfor making our holiday so memorable…
We stayed here from 19th Sept for a week, we arrived during a storm and the flight was horrendous! It was quite late when we arrived but was greeted by friendly staff and shown our room. As over reviews state room is very basic but clean, with large balcony but no privacy. Breakfast was OK, the same each day so did get bored by the end of the week. The pool area is nice with lovely views. The walk to the square is about 10 mins and its got loads of shops bars and resturants. We hired a quad bike for 35 euros for the day, and was so glad we did as we visited all the other resorts. Afytos being the most appealing. We walked to nearby Pefkohori a few times during our saty, as we had got friends staying in that resort, it takes around 30 minutes on foot, about 5 mins by car. Overall it was a pleasant stay, in an ideal location away from the hustle and bustle of the resort, and Halkidiki is beautiful.…
We pulled up at Daphne’s in the middle of a very hot afternoon on Friday 13th Sept, and none of us thought this was a omen, parking is located on the road side next to the fly infested bins, through the green iron gates into reception, where we were met by a rather abrupt young lady and shortly marched up the HILL to our caves for the week. Each cave is very dark and contains twin beds, which are the hardest thing I have ever had the misfortune of sleeping on, a wardrobe which also houses the so called kitchenette, this comprises of a kettle and a fridge and nothing else, and I really mean nothing else. The bathroom is very small you have to squeeze between the toilet and the sink into the shower, which had the added bonus of a stone shower tray, which I managed to bang my ankle on many times. Up a further 3 flights of steps you will find the dining room and pool, the pool itself is quite nice, however there is one sunbed per 5 guests, some of which are in a state of disrepair, resulting in you flying backwards to the amusement of all around. The dining room is where things take a turn for the worse, breakfast consists of salad, bread, bacon bits, and tinned cocktail sausages and something orange, which I was informed was egg. There is a coffee machine which reliably pours out brown sludge. The whole complex is rundown and in need of major investment, the guests are outnumbered three to one by the cats, this didn’t bother me, however if you’re not a cat lover it will. I spent most of the week hauling cat biscuits up the HILL to feed them all. Hanioti however is a fantastic little resort, with beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants and amazing people, we had a great time despite our awful apartments.…
Myself and my friend stayed at the Daphne for a week in September 2019, wanting a cheap and cheerful holiday in the sun. The rooms are basic and a little dated but very clean. The shower is nice and beds made daily. Each room has a nice little terrace with table and chairs. You are not paying five star prices for this hotel so don’t expect five star amenities. It’s very good value. Some of the rooms are situated up an incline. I’ve seen many reviews calling this a ‘Steep Hill’. It is not. If you believe this is a steep hill you need to get out of the house more. Pool terrace has a great view over the mountains and good seating areas. There is a tennis court on site which we used on one of the days. We stayed half board and the breakfasts and evening meal were very nice with different fish and meats daily. It’s a short walk to the local town with lots of bars and restaurants and beach is not far too. You can get a bus to Thessaloniki from the hotel but would not recommend the local bus. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. We broke our terrace door on the first day and they fixed it straight away. Throughout the week they were so friendly and lovely. Honestly, the worst thing about the hotel is the clientele that stay there. Middle aged, entitled, white English Brexit voters who are negative and rude. I believe I have to apologise to all the Greek people for what they have suffered. As two 25 year olds, we didn’t seem to fit in at all!…
We had a wonderful weeks holiday at the Daphne. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms were basic but very clean with room service everyday. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the bar snacks were very tasty. The incline up to our room was a tad steep but we felt quite fit by the end of the holiday. It was a lovely 10 minute walk into the town for great restaurants and bars. The beach was 5 minutes further on from the town. All in all it was a great holiday.…Love Hanioti and would come back again. Thank you to all the staff at the Daphne for making us feel so welcome.
Just back from a ten day sentence I mean trip to Daphne Holiday Club, and all I can say is what the **** was all that about ? Ok from the start, as a party of 6 we descended on the hotel to be met by “The Hill”, I’ll come to this later. We were shown our cell, room sorry room, very basic, two singles beds with a selection of linen, well two single sheets, the “kitchen” (HA) consisted of a kettle and two glass cups from the 70s, the slopping out room/bathroom is a death trap, a shower head that keeps trying to commit suicide by jumping of its holder and hitting you, I should of taken it as a warning . The floor safe is interesting, it’s a bucket with a lid. The cleaners are polite and that’s about it, you have to run after them for towels, maybe a Daphne’s tradition ? In the morning we made our way to the breakfast area excited to see what delicious treats awaited us, there wasn’t any ! Bacon that had seen better days, quite a few from the look of it and mini sausages that if you don’t want you can always have them the next and maybe a few days after that. And if your really lucky your scrammed eggs maybe yellow ? If your a vegan the breakfast is right up your street but I longed for more, beans wouldn’t of gone a miss. And it’s who you know as I saw someone get two fried eyes one morning !! Didn’t know there was a black market on fried items Live on toast is my advice, if the poor little toaster can take the strain. We were going to liberate the poor thing, but after we used 3 plastic pint glass from the bar in our room (no pint glasses provided in the rooms) which we returned the next day, only to be interrogated about it and that they had wondered where they had gone, Christ didn’t know they counted them in and out each night. We decided against it. I’ve read in other reviews how friendly the staff were, word being were ! Think they’d given up by now and just wanted the season to end, just like we wanted the Daphne nightmare to end, think the only things enjoying the experience were the mosquitoes, little gits !! The town is nice and comes alive at night, usual kind of shops are available, eating out is advised, don’t for one second even think of eating at the Daphne, an example of a meal one evening being pasta screws and veg ??? That well known Greek dish 😳 The locals are friendly and like to give you either extra starters or sweets, which was always welcomed. After a great evening out or trip to a local beach you have to contend with the hill, the ******* hill, it goes on for ever !! Not advised for the elderly, drunk or if your the size of Garry There’s nothing to do on site apart from play with the cats, even they wouldn’t eat the bits we took from breakfast for them, wise cats very wise. So in a nut shell, Daphne’s disappointing , Hanioti lovely, beans non existence You’ll leave with the feeling that the hotel has missed an opportunity, excellent location, lovely views but no personal service, poor food, smallish pool area and don’t make me mention the rooms again ! And get a cable car !! A holiday is made by the people you go with so with that in mind I had a ball, I’m just not inviting Daphne next time. ****** has been used instead of words I wasn’t allowed to use on here 😫…
We stayed at the Daphne Holiday Club in September 2019, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are brilliant, and very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. We had a room on a corner position, with beautiful views, on the 2nd floor, large balcony with table and chairs. Room was basic, but, had everything we needed, including a full size fridge and a kettle. We paid for half board and although the breakfast was the same daily, it was nice and enjoyable (only a small 2 slice toaster though ;-). The evening meals were not brilliant but there was something you could eat, but again salad bar, was the same, only one dessert each night, and not a lot of meat - lots of fish and pasta dishes - we did eat out 3 or 4 times (which was not expensive), so I think it is best to go bed and breakfast. The bar meals though were rally nice, and value for money. The place in areas is a little tired, and needs a bit of TLC, especially the toilets by the pool area - I always went to our room, and never used the public ladies, locks on doors missing, so small things like that needs to be done. Also, some of the rooms, higher up, there is a hill to climb (well, not a hill as such, an incline, which for unsteady or more frail people, it would not be ideal. Overall, we did enjoy our time at Daphne Holiday Club xx…
Just came back from Daphne’s after staying 8 nights with family in three apartments. Oh my god! I think we must have been drunk or drugged or something because the place is nothing like the photos on their website. It can only be described as a 1970’s concentration camp twinned with Colditz! All the time we stayed here we just laughed it off on how depressing and dated everything was, now I feel angry how bad it really was and how much better we could have had like sleeping in a wheelie bin or the large gutters you see at the side of the road. Upon arriving it wasn’t good, don’t get me wrong I’ve stayed in shabby places in Greece but this reached an all time low for me, my heart sunk and felt bad for the rest of the family who we booked for. But maybe it wasn’t all bad ....... Oh and you may have read in other reviews that the the complex/detention centre is on a a concrete hill comprising 5 blocks in increasing skill level. We stayed on levels 4 and 5 and now we’ve got calves like Geoff capes! If you have the misfortune of staying at Daphne’s then just pray she gives you a key on level 1 Also the handyman likes to drive up and down the concrete path to his hut at the top about every 3 minutes at top speed so make sure you have a spotter located at the top and bottom to ensure your safety. Rooms - Very dated, complete with 1970’s artex on the wall, air con machine blows little more than a draught, don’t even think about using the kitchenette which was a sliding door adjoining the wardrobe. If you could find ‘the precious’ spoon or knife you were in luck as they were scarce just like a glass or a plate! I was in the restaurant one day (which I will cover later in my review) when a lady was asking the young waiter if she could borrow a spoon for the duration of her stay, the waiter frowned and declined her request. After she pleaded for this spoon he finally relented and said she could use it until the following day where she would need to surrender it everyday for inspection??? You can’t make this up! Anyway so don’t bother looking for anything to even resemble kitchen equipment it’s all locked up in a safe upstairs. The beds we had were very hard and me and the wife’s backs are knackered probably will need a spine replacement Tv is great if you speak Greek, and like to watch church ceremonies and Greek shopping channel crap. The bathroom has seen better days and presumably the Ancient Greeks had better facilities than those offered. If you didn’t bash your ankle on the stone shower tray corner then you were kicking the bin whilst you contorted your body to get under the shower head as it had been positioned to shower you on the toilet (maybe a time saving opportunity?) Also a weird looking floor safe was supplied that was a cross between a round little diddy bin and an ashtray. To sum up a DSS bedsit with less amenities! The pool was ok a bit scruffy and insufficient sun beds in varying states of disrepair, everybody just went up early (me included on 2nd day) to reserve the beds or you went back down to your room to cry. The restaurant was where me and the other 5 members of the family had our fun laughing all this disbelief off (trust me we needed this to release stress) The breakfast was included in the price we paid and like others assumed there might be some variation of the cuisine on offer. In a way there was, for example on day 1 the little hard bullet sausages were plain, day 2 they fried them, day 3 spiced up, same with eggs etc NO BEANS, in fact the catchphrase was ‘Has tha nowt moist?’ Flys landing on the billy bear ham and the rubber cheese wasn’t any better! The only saving grace was a little blue 2 slice toaster affectionately named ‘Tommy toaster’ I as a toast lover (even more now after the breakfast options) was fascinated how a little domestic toaster managed to provide toasty bread day in day out without any problems, in fact I began to be a bit overprotective of ‘tommy’ to the point of hogging the toaster so it wasn’t overworked (I know I’m seeking help) So after sampling the breakfast menu I felt a little reluctant to try anything else. The drinks prices are ridiculous, 5 euros for a ice coffee with ice cream which was made with Nescafé, tap water blitzed with a tiny blob of ice cream. I could go on and on and on but I need to sleep now Please do yourself a favour stay elsewhere unless you like being disappointed and can laugh at anything. Peace…
