My boyfriend and I have just arrived home after spending a week at Hotel Dionysos and we both agreed it was one of the best hotels we have stayed in on our travels. We stayed in a superior double room which had been refurbished to a very high standard with a decent air con system. Our room was cleaned/tidied on a daily basis and the maids were friendly. The only negatives about our room; no door on the bathroom and our balcony view was unfortunately an inflatable bungee on a night time but it didn't cause too much of a problem. Breakfast on a morning was OK but I personally didn't think there was much choice and the breakfast room and outdoor area were quite small (we had to queue one morning to be seated). The fresh fruit was not great and the only yogurt available was greek yogurt. However, this meant that I took advantage of being on holiday and had the not so healthy options... the chocolate filled pastries were amazing! The pool area was kept nice and clean and it wasn't too busy either but this did not deter hotel guests from leaving towels on the beds and disappearing. Drinks and snacks available at the pool bar (or room service if you want to take advantage of the air con in your room for a while). The club sandwich was really tasty and I would definitely recommend it. The staff here were great and the location is ideal too. I'm really shocked the hotel is only 3 stars but maybe once the other rooms have been modernised Dionysos will receive the rating it deserves! We would highly recommend this hotel!

6 of us stayed for 12 night at this hotel in July/Aug. We booked 2 rooms; both of which were beautiful. We had room 144 which was right by the pool. As I say the room was beautiful; very modern and it was cleaned every day to an excellent standard. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by 2 lady’s who were so helpful and friendly and always on hand to help. The bar staff staff Panos, Antonis, Marios, Stamatis and Pavlina are a true credit to this hotel. They work so hard and are always so friendly and always have a smile on their faces. The bar/pool area itself is very modern and clean. We ordered food a couple of times at the hotel and it was always lovely. You are also not too far from the main square (5 min walk if that) where there are plenty of places to eat/bars. Pallini was one of our favourite restaurants . Our only negative is the beach; they are very over crowded and more shingle than sand. We did a couple of excursions which we booked in the main square; ie to the water park and a lazy day boat cruise. We also caught the local bus to the next village along and spent the day at the beach there. Overall we had an amazing holiday!

Our transfer time from Thessaloniki airport was around 1H 30M/45M. Wasn’t too bad at all. When we arrived at check in we were asked to fill in guest forms and pay our city tax (€1.50/per room/per night - very reasonable). We were then shown to our room which we knew would be in the older block. Once we got to our room the receptionist showed us in and told us about the air con etc. The room was clean and had what you needed though definitely dated. We had a fridge and kettle, 2 beds pushed together, a couch/folded up bed, 1 bedside table, wardrobe, drawers and a desk. One major downfall was there were only 2 available plug sockets to us! Next downfall was the aircon, it was an ‘on or off’ no temperature control - although we always found the room to be a comfortable temperature with this anyways. The biggest let down was the bathroom, we had to leave the door open 24/7 to air out the smell of the drains, it wasn’t overpowering but wasn’t pleasant. The toilet & sink were fine but the shower was a nightmare! So tiny you were either stuck against the tap or had the shower curtain stuck to you all over, the tap turned to hot was freezing, turned all the way to cold it was scalding hot, had to find a place near cold where it was a reasonable temperature but even then the lift up button to turn from tap to shower wasn’t the best so the shower pressure was low! When it does work it also leaks under the glass screen and onto the sink top then all over the floor, we had to use our hand towels and the floor mat to soak it up/clean it! Room was cleaned well every other day, fresh towels & beds made every other day, sheets changed every 4th day - more than satisfactory for us :) Breakfast was 7:30-10, we made it 5 mornings out of the 14 we had, we didn’t want to be setting alarms on holiday it was just a bit too early for us, would’ve been better for us to have it til 11 but even then we didn’t take much on offer, there was omelettes, fried eggs, boiled eggs, some meats, fruits & yoghurts, some pastries, pancakes, cereals & toast which was decent for breakfast included. Pool area was amazing 5*! Beautifully done up and all the bar staff were impeccable. Lovely area to chill in the day and a bar area to sit and have food/drinks and a tv for sports too. Food/drink was a brill price for hotel bar too (€5 for club sandwich/burger with chips/ €3.50 for a pint). Only problem was as we’re late risers we more often than now had to wait at the bar for some loungers to become available- people reserving them and then leaving site for lunch was frequent. Chalkidiki/Chaniotis town/square was literally less than 10 mins walk to the left of the hotel, beach was about the same only straight on. 2 big supermarkets right on the doorstep of the hotel which were both reasonable. Plenty of restaurants nearby or around the square that were lovely and all more than reasonable on price; most we spend for a 2 course meal (and you normally get dessert free) and drinks for 2 cost €35. The places we loved were; 1. Pallini’s - greek & european - amazing food & service. (5/5 for us) 2. Capari - pizzas & greek. (4/5 for us) 3. Zorbas - fish & other greek food - €2 pints. (4/5 for us) 4. Kostas - gyros for €2, huge & tasty. (5/5 for us) 5. Gustos Italiano - italian. (3.5/5 for us) 6. Tropicana - greek; amazing souvlaki. (4/5 for us) Beach was nice but slightly stoney/shingley, sea was gorgeous! Can get 2 sun loungers & umbrella all day for €7. Overall Dionysos is definitely and up & coming 4/5 star for us; once the old block is renovated and brought up to standard of the new i don’t think i could fault it at all! We had an amazing 2 weeks here!

My family and I (husband 15yr old and 17yr old) have just had the most amazing two weeks self catering at this hotel, it is in the best location, spotless and the staff were absolutely amazing especially Paulina, Mario, Adonis & the other bar man whose name I cannot pronounce, not forgetting George on reception. The pool area is great - they remove towels from bed that are being reserved by people that put them down and don't rock up until 1pm, my only slight thing was the room was a bit small for the 4 of us so I would book a bigger room if I went back, but it was cleaned every day, fresh towels & toilet rolls. The town is literally a 5 minute walk away, loads of bars and delicious places to eat, overall we loved it.

Hotel room brilliant but the patio door couldn't be locked opened, breakfast room too small and very cramped, eggs looked and tasted as though they were made of rubber and no warnings of most of the hot dishes that they were hot, people still put towels on empty sun beds and the children were left to throw balls about and shout, felt like a children's play ground,if we had known what it was like we wouldn't have gone there so in the second week we went to the beach and never spent any money at the hotel for the rest of our holiday, not a couple's hotel.
