Set on the river in the middle of the Taman Negara this place is well worth visiting. The lodges are spacious and well appointed but don’t expect luxury in this damp environment. The services are well organised and the catering is better than expected in this remote setting. We arrived by boat and would highly recommend this unless it is raining ! We saw lots of wildlife both on the river ,around the site, on the night walk and also the daytime trek. Our guide, Kodi, was fantastic on both the night and day walks. He certainly showed incredible understanding of the environment and his enthusiasm was infectious. A huge thank you Kodi for making our stay so memorable.

Really nice staff who lead some interesting walks and river trips. Very knowledgable and enthusiastic staff. The accommodation was a little dark and could have been better lit. The main reason for giving it only 3 stars, was the food that I found rather bland compared with other places we stayed. As we were on a package that included breakfast, lunch and dinner, food was a major part of the day. The grounds had some interesting animals, monkeys, pigs and birds.

We stayed 5 days with a package and shuttle van from Istana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. This was well organized and ran very smoothly which included a two hour boat ride. I appreciate that as I have some mobility issues. The food options for the full board were quite good and provided both western and Malaysian dishes that were all quite tasty. Even wife who knows SE Asia very well found some local vegetable she had never seen. The trails are well marked and many upgraded to boardwalks. The guides seem to be friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable. I was contented to just walk within my limited range and enjoyed the serenity and the impressive giant trees. Five stars except for better pre/post communications. The boat travel options are much better than the 3 hours from Kuala Tembeling that the initial email suggested. On leaving, it was not clear who was our van driver, when stops were scheduled. It was well planned, just could have been explained a little more before heading off. Top marks go to the office staff who really explained things well and to the kitchen staff who were friendly and helpful even during the busiest times. Really enjoyable stay.

Organised, good activities and good place for ikan patin. I had 3 days 2 night full board package. Staff at Mutiara Taman Negara was helpful and informative. Nature guides are excellent. They are very good in what they are doing. Keep it up! The most unforgettable thing is Ikan Patin... From mask asam ro g to masak lemak cili padi to asam pedas. Bravo Chef Zamri.. Yadebes!

It was an experience to travel by boat to this resort - nearly two hours but sheltered in boat from sun by canopy , we saw water buffalo too.You can come to the hotel from the road and take a short boat trip across to the resort but we would recommend the longer boar trip. The resort is a jungle experience with a bit of luxury - not high end luxury but you do have a comfy bed, a room that is clean and spacious & air con, but be aware you are in the forest and this is a wooden cabin. We did have monkeys walking by and we saw a wild pig one evening plus a flying lemur. WiFi is in the restaurant only but you are there not to communicate with the world but to enjoy the rain forest. The restaurant is good,no walls but stuffed tigers sit on the ledges and that stops the monkeys troubling anyone eating. We did the night jungle walk, the walk to Gunung Tahan and the Canopy Walkway - totally amazing and the boat ride up to Lata Berkoh. Roto was our guide and he was excellent in every way and enriched our experience there hugely.
