When i first booked this resort in the jungle i didn't put my expectations to high. But the place is really nice with big and cosy cottages. Monkeys in the trees and blizzards all around. The food is ok and the restaurant cosy as well.

Lovely chalet in a very quite location on the edge of the rainforest. The restaurant is excellent and well priced and the staff very helpful. You can follow trails and boardwalks into the rainforest and the hotel offers great trips, I recommend the canopy walk and the boat ride to swim at the cataracts.

Stayed at Mutiara for a couple of nights with our kids (aged 12 and 14). It is an amazing place, nestled in a remote part of the jungle in Taman Negara national park. Some websites imply that luggage is a problem, but don't worry about it. We travelled light but some people had loads of luggage. There is a water... More

friendly staff. it was my first time in the rainforest and on my own a little scary. I was put at ease and really enjoyed my stay, loved my little hut and the food was delicious and plentiful. Unforgetable!

It's difficult to say. On the one hand the chalets are very nice and clean and the resort gives direct access to the jungle, the activities are ok but very turistic and you re never alone...on the other hand maybe it is a little overpriced. The food in the restaurant is nothing special and yes the service is friendly but very... More

If you want to stay in the jungle, this is the only option. Rooms: Pretty worn out even though ours (36) had a new bathroom. The room itself is simple and not very clean. The cleaning during our stay was also pretty bad. This is in theory ok since it is the jungle – but compared to the price you... More

We stayed in Kuala Tahan and ate at Mawee floating restaurant 2 nights which was just fine but decided to push the boat out on our last night and eat in the Mutiara hotel restaurant. Absolutely top notch all round. Great service, wonderful setting and the 2nd best meal we had in all Malaysia.

We loved it here! We decided to splash out on our trip as we had been in hostels and huts most of the time. It was lovely to stay in nice beds and we had a TV! It's well worth staying here just for the ease of getting into the rainforest and exploring. Monkeys came to see us at 6... More

We stayed for three nights in a 'bungalow' which was actually a two bedroom apartment with kitchen, dining area and lounge. Both bedrooms were en suite and all the facilities worked very well ( air con, safe etc). This is definitely the place to stay in Taman Negara, the location is amazing. We parked our car in a local parking... More

The resort consists of bungalows in a large park with a reception, restaurant and a shop. In the park there are monkeys and it is directly neighbouring with jungle. In our bungalow there was a bedroom with TV and air condition and a bathroom, well equipped, in a good shape and clean. Restaurant is quite good with a pleasant staff... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, PahangDiscover the wonders of an ancient forest at Mutiara Taman Negara. Pitch tent or check-into this forest reserve and bask in the natural surroundings of the Taman Negara park. Mutiara Taman Negara, an eco-tourism Resort that offers a variety of accommodation types promises guests this unique experience with basic amenities and sufficient modern comforts. A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is the largest park in peninsular Malaysia reputed to be The Best Kept Tropical Rainforest, thanks to its protected status. With minimal damage to this special ecosystem, Mutiara Taman Negara is dimly lit to avoid scaring off wildlife and conserves energy. Everything used is biodegradable and all the wooden chalet interiors are made of natural produce. Guests at Mutiara Taman Negara will wake to the drone of cicadas, the chirping of bird species new to them and a myriad of other unfamiliar sounds that form a consistent cacophony unique to rainforests. You will begin their adventure at your door step or veranda which makes a perfect perch especially for nocturnal sightings. Sighting wildlife outside the chalet is a norm and the fruit season attracts the most number of wildlife, from the mischievous long tailed macaques, the beautiful chestnut-breasted malkoha and the thorny porcupine to the gentle slow loris. The ancient life forms that blanket Taman Negara are impressive and during each visit, Mutiara Taman Negara gives its visitors the opportunity to glimpse at the flora and fauna species estimated at 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds, 270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammals. Some of the flora and fauna found in Taman Negara are rare or indigenous to this country. If you are not travelling with a group, you can plan your trip to Mutiara Taman Negara well before you arrive or enlist the help of guides at the Park Centre. Things to do at Mutiara Taman Negara include river cruises, guided walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming by waterfalls and night safaris. The world’s longest suspended canopy walk is the most popular activity in this rainforest and you have to be prepared to queue for a while. Secured 40 metres above the forest floor, visitors have a good vantage point from here and if lucky, you can sight some curious animals. The only people who are allowed to hunt and forage are its original inhabitants, the Orang Asli people who still live a nomadic lifestyle. They farm, fish and hunt in the park and nowadays play host to curious visitors armed with flashy cameras. The women may shy away but the men folk can put on a show with some advance notice. Travelling to Mutiara Taman Negara, guests can either do the four hour scenic drive down or board a coach from a designated location in Kuala Lumpur for a 3 hour drive down followed by a 3 hour boat trip down river ... more   less
