We could not have been happier! Great service, comfortable and amazing food & wine. Marissa was so accommodating - we felt like family. The entire stay was very charming. The countryside was so peaceful and it was enjoyable relaxing at the pool after each daily adventure. Its the best kept secret.
We were driving from Ragusa to menfi. We booked a suite and a double bedroom. We drove through the vineyard to this very massive historical winery and accommodation owned by the lanzara family. Antonio, the manager greeted us well, explained, took us to our room over looking the vineyard. Very helpful and kind. We requested for the lanzara Syrah and blend, served in the courtyard with such style. We were treated like royalty. Dinner was 4 course every night and the menu is different both days. Marisa the owner was always obliging, courteous and went out of her way to make us feel at home. Breakfast was fantastic with home made marmalade and custard croissant. Morning staff were always smiling and helpful. Marisa introduced us to the wine maker, who was very generous with his time in explaining the Sicilian wine production which gets a lot of sun. We also had a sit down wine tasting in the lounge, majestic experience. Marsha was the host and she was great. Positives: clean room, comfortable bed, great shower with jet steam facility, great customer service and native Sicilian cuisine. Negatives: arrived at the beginning of season and swimming pool had not been commissioned for use. …
We have just returned from 3 nights at this wonderful property. It is situated in a quiet location with sweeping views across vines to the sea and with a small but perfectly formed gardens. The pool area is delightful. Breakfast is good although mostly cake - but this seems to be the norm in Sicily! We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and the food was very good. The property produces its own wine and we enjoyed several bottles of high quality wines at very reasonable prices. When we arrived we were shown around the resort and taken to our room. We chose a suite which had a lovely balcony with seating area. The décor is what you would expect of such a property. The air con worked well. The bathroom was a bit outdated but it all worked well and so no complaints there. The common areas are nice with a bar and a billiard table. The only things we felt were lacking were decent Wi-Fi (we did not manage to find it at all during our 3 night stay); complimentary water in the room (given the price point (£570 for three nights) we felt this should have been provided) and access to tea and coffee making facilities during the day. Also charging 3 euros for the use of a pool towel felt wrong - it should have been provided free of charge. However, we would not hesitate to recommend this property to others and would return.…
Amazing friendly wine yard It's very beautiful with fantastic friendly owners Signora and Angela & staff, that served wonderful food and wine from the winery. Signora was very friendly and easy going, talking, playing cards with the children and explaining about the area and giving tips about day trips etc Wonderful pool,we and our kids enjoyed the pool and beautiful nature and peaceful. Nice living room with pool table We felt at home and the kids enjoyed it some much. We took day trips around the area. Wonderful breakfast and dinners and wines Big thanks Room nice and very clean
With a fairly high price tag in comparison with other places we stayed on our tour of Sicily, we expected something very special. The vineyard is in an amazing location, don't be put off by the single-track winding road leading to it, we never saw another car along it and the remoteness of the setting added to its relaxed feel, away from the crowds. On arrival we were very early for check-in. We were greeted very warmly by the lady owner and luckily, as the place wasn't full, were shown straight to our room. The room was comfortable but basic, which is what we had expected from a few-hundred year-old property. The bathroom could have done with a little updating though, as although the shower was very powerful, the cubicle was very small and the panelling was quite flimsy. Our view overlooking the vines was lovely and very private. We were shown around the property and were very impressed with the pool area which we understand has been recently renovated. Stunning views over the bay and not a soul in sight. Bliss! Unfortunately for us, though, the weather wasn't great for sunbathing that day and so we made our way back over to reception and requested a bottle of wine. We tried the sparkling rose which was delicious (and we had to sample a few more bottles during our stay just to make sure) and was served on a tray with a few nibbles which was a nice touch. The only comment I would make here is that we had to ask for this, and being on a vineyard it might have been nice to have been offered a bottle on arrival rather than having to ask. We spent our first afternoon relaxing in the common area complete with a rather impressive pool table was lovely and welcoming. The grounds of the building are beautifully manicured and a pleasure to have a look around. The on-site chapel is charming. Prior to our arrival we had booked in for an evening meal on our first night and a wine tour before hand. Whilst the wines the vineyard produces are wonderful, the wine 'tour' was a little disappointing as it merely consisted of two glasses of wine (one white, one red) poured for us before dinner, at the same price as two glasses of wine from the menu which we could have just ordered anyway. Perhaps it was our own high expectation but we had been expecting a little more information about the wine, how it's made, and maybe even a tour of the wine cellar as we had read on other reviews. Still, the wine is amazing and the Grillo is very tasty. The evening meal was lovely, traditional Sicilian food and good portion sizes. The gentleman who serves in the restaurant both in the evening and for breakfast is very polite and helpful. Lovely service. Breakfast was basic but perfectly adequate. On the morning that we were leaving (a Friday) there was a hive of activity preparing the venue for a wedding. What a beautiful place to have a ceremony and celebration! There is plenty to see in the area and so a couple of days here is well worth the visit. The owner kindly spent some time with us explaining what there was to see in the area and making recommendations. There is also a map and some leaflets in the main office which were helpful. The Wi-Fi, unfortunately, was very poor. It never worked in our room and on the second day we couldn't even get access in the common area. Good to force yourself to relax and disconnect a little! We did really enjoy our stay here and would recommend it to others, but I don't think that we would stay again, mainly because Sicily is a huge place to visit so we would go to another area.…
