Travelers' Choice
Located between the Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes at an altitude of 1,640 ft, each one of our 12 bungalows has an exceptional view towards the Tenorio volcano. Rooms are spacious, elegant, and perfectly set out for your greatest comfort. Built on our 17 acres property, in the middle of Heliconias gardens, of fruit trees and tropical vegetation surrounding two natural ponds, the Lodge was designed to offer its guests quietness, relaxation, and serenity. In this peaceful environment, along our trails, you will observe hundreds of birds, learn about native trees or take a dip in one of our two red cedar hot tubs. Among the activities we suggest, you should visit the heart of the Tenorio Volcano's National Park, the "Rio Celeste", well known for its astonishing and enchanting turquoise-blue colour.

Stayed here just when COVID issues started to impact the holiday and the lodge was probably only half full at best. Public areas for food quite small but comfortable. Unable to comment on food other than breakfast which was fine although can take some time if busy as not self serve. Cabin itself was large and comfortable with a good view. Very peaceful with some wildlife in immediate locality with self guided trail. Two hot tubs are a bonus.

The setting for Tenorio Lodge was lovely. The posadas has floor to ceiling windows with a view of the mountains. The rooms were large and comfortable and the bathroom was enormous. From our balcony we saw a lot of different birds including two large yellow toucans. We hiked the grounds and with great effort found a sloth in the canopy. Breakfast was included and was good. The hosts feed the wildlife on the front deck and while dining you see a variety of birds, raccoons and squirrels. The hosts speak French and a little Spanish. Most of the guests there were French. The service was friendly if not totally competent.

The hotel has 12 cabins set in beautiful grounds , with a well marked trail to walk around as well. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. Our room had 2 huge window looking straight to Tenorio volcano - sadly there was cloud covering the top for all of our stay. Breakfast was delicious and Christine puts out bananas so the wildlife watching over breakfast is superb. Dinner has a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains ( you need to order before 5 pm ) but the food was delicious. I would recommend Tenorio Lodge .

We loved the place. Birds everywhere! Very nice food in the restaurant. The weather was not so good, so we drove to plano verde, where it was 31 degrees and sunny instead of 21 and raining. What we think can be improved is the lights in the room, only two bedlamps is not enough for a room that size. And we would have liked having Wifi in our room.
