We have visited La Carolina Lodge multiple times. It is a must do when visiting the Guanacaste area. The hotel itself is rustic but nonetheless very charming. Some rooms have their own hot tubs and views of the river. The property is beautiful; gardens, farm, river, hot tubs, jungle paths. The food is outstanding. Everything served is grown on the...

Absolutely enchanting 2 days in the jungle! It's a surreal experience to lounge in the riverside hot tub amidst the natural beauty of the jungle. It's a shame to have to get out of the hot tub, but when you do, a delicious meal is likely waiting for you at the lodge. If it's not yet time to eat (again),...

Not for everyone but if you are for a real Costa Rica experience this is it, starting for its great physical location next to a beautiful pristine river to a well kept hacienda and wonderful staff, I've visited La Carolina Lodge many times and I always can't wait to get back. Awesome Costarican cuisine and not to mention the best...

We are a family of 6 - kids aged 5-13. We stayed 3 nights at La Carolina Lodge in April. This was an all around amazing experience! We all loved it! It was so peaceful and beautiful, but there was always something to see or do. We went horseback riding, milked cows, hiked the property, paddled around the lake, swam...

As a family of 6, sometimes it is hard to find a place that everyone loves and doesn't want to leave. Our first visit there was in June of 2016 and we liked it so much, that as Costa Rican residents, we chose to re-visit in mid-April of 2017 rather then explore a new area of the country that we...

La Carolina is a great way to really feel like you're staying in the beautiful nature of the Tenorio National Park area. The cabins are rustic, but very clean, tidy, and give you amazing views and sounds of the nearby river, birds, and wildlife. Very cool, how they mostly use candle light at night to not spoil the natural ambiance....

This a great place for a nice interesting few days! There food is amazing. You probably won't have such good meals for a while. If you're spending a while in Costa Rica I would advise not spending all the time you have here! The milking of the cows seems fun but I stood out and watched while the others had...

La Carolina is in a superb location. Off the beaten track, and beautifully developed, leaving wildness and jungle all around. The yoga platform is lovely, and the swimming and river-water jacuzzi are a great way to relax. A trip around the vegetable garden and the chicken house was disappointing, and I am pretty sure it was not organic. The food...

Dear Margaret, we are very sorry that you did not enjoy LCL. In response, nearly all of the vegetables are organic...we grow them right out front for all to see, others we purchase from neighbors. Yes, sometimes a tomato will leak and when noticed the ladies will throw it out. The pineapple jam is boiled on our wooden stove in...

Nice friendly family...Love to go rest in this rustic little cabin and soak in the natural hot tub. Enjoy the traditional food and the fire place and the horses. Alexandro is a very good guide in the park . I have been going there for years now . Love it !

I delayed giving my review be.cause I was selfish and didn't want more people to go to La Carolina. But the owners, Bill and Caitlin (sp) deserve better from me. My spouse and I truly enjoyed this rustic retreat. Even though I had recently broken my toe and I really couldn't get around well, we enjoyed ourselves. The swim/fish hole...
