We discovered Chateau du Val d'Arguenon through a french syndication of estate properties operating B&B's: Bienvenue aux Chateau. Their motto is "You arrive as a guest and you leave as a friend." This could not have been more true of our stay with Olivier and Armelle de la Blanchardiere. Their family estate has breath-taking views of the sea and is perfectly situated for hiking or biking along the beautiful coast of Brittany. This lovely Breton couple are a wealth of information about their region, its history, dining, markets, outdoor activities and more.

Spent one night booked at the last minute. Very friendly owner welcomed us on arrival and also helped us with booking local restaurant on a busy Sunday night. Rare chateau location is beautiful being close by the water. Lovely evening stroll around the well kept grounds. Would highly recommend a stay there.

Just had two nights in this glorious historic and charming chateau. A delightful rural setting, with excellent host Olivier, who with his wife Amelle run this very welcoming and comfortable chateau. We first visited this area with its lovely beaches when our children were small, and have since returned. The Chateau has walks through its woods to a small beach or we walked around the estuary to other places. There are also three tree houses which would be delightful for wildlife watchers or honeymooners. Breakfast is put in the basket below and pulled up on a rope! Our room was large, very clean and comfortable. Amelle makes some delicious jams and yogurt for breakfast, and when we were there had also made pancakes. For anyone who wants a peaceful and interesting stay, but with towns nearby, this is a very good choice.

Beautiful, relaxing setting in a château steeped in interesting history that the owner will gladly share with you if asked. We were very well-received by the kind and charming host and hostess, the latter of whom baked her own delicious breads, not to be missed at breakfast. We also greatly enjoyed walks through this lovely domain by the seaside. GK Noyer
