What a fantastic hotel. We stayed at the Pontikonisi hotel for 10 days. And loved every single minute we were there. The owners and staff are so so friendly. Even the house keeping were friendly They will go out of their way to help you. Nothing is too much trouble. The room was equipped with everything we needed. The bathroom was on the small side, but was usable and clean. What was fantastic was the sea views from our room. And the upstairs restaurant and bar serves absolutely delicious food. The bar staff were great and very very friendly. The pool area is clean, with sunbeds and parasols. For a budget hotel, I would highly recommend staying. I will definitely return again.
Top-notch facilities (pool was great, with breathtaking view as well), staff was very friendly, delicious and varied breakfast. Rooms were very very clean. I would highly recommend Pontikonisi Hotel for your vacation! Bonus: A very beautiful private beach, located on the ground floor.
It has a wonderful view over the sea and the airplanes. We had a wonderful time there and our little one enjoyed the sea and the pool. The staff is amazing, they helped us a lot with information regarding the island. The restaurant upstairs has good food too and quite affordable. Thank you for such a good stay!
There are a lot of mixed reviews on here but I hope this will be as balanced as possible. The hotel has a fantastic location easy access to Corfu town (short bus ride no 6) and also the other direction to Benitses beach. You can also get the green bus (by Lidl stop) and the buses here can take you all over the island very reliable and reasonable prices. If you are in the main hotel you can get the most beautiful view of the sea and mouse island. However, the hotel has two locations. The other location is over a busy road, and it doesn’t look very nice. Compared to many hotels the easy access to the sea, location and view is a win. However, you get what you pay for. This hotel is not as shiny as the pictures and is in need of some serious TLC and investment. A lick of pain, storage in the rooms, storage in the shower, new sun beds to name. It a few. Some efforts made to make the pool area more inviting, all simple things which would make it better and improve the hotel experience. So some reality for you; the hotel is very close to the airport but it’s double glazed and i am a light sleeper and never noticed, you see planes fly over head most of the day which I personally didn’t mind. You will need swim shoes as a lot of this side of the island has pebble beaches. We had a twin room which was as basic as it could get. Neither of us are large women but the shower was difficult to negotiate it was so small. We worked out putting a towel down, open the shower curtain and shower with the door open so you have some room to breath. Breakfast was very much the same each day, if you have allergies you have no chance. There was hardly any fruit, no tea except herbal (bring your own tea bags) no tea and coffee making in your room. There were limited options and again the basics could have been covered well but wasn’t. However, the roof top bar and food was fab nice drinks, nice staff and the food was good (avoid the pizza this wasn’t the best everything else looked good) it is a stark contrast to breakfast. the cleaning staff are loud and have zero appreciation that people are on holiday and are allowed to sleep in if they like. We wondered if they did it on purpose to get you up and out so they can clean. They are laughing and shouting down the hall at 7ish in the morning. Most of the staff were lovely and helpful except one day time receptionist who couldn’t be bothered to help with anything, but had a strong conversation with another member of staff and her attitude changes quickly so this was positive. Some reviews have said about a smell it only took a moment to look into and it’s naturally occurring sulphur smell from the seaweed which is strong at low tide, there is nothing wrong with the water it’s clear and lovely and there is no issue and it’s safe, the rise comes in early and the smell goes. Two close supermarkets, a wonderful bakery located 10 mins down the road toward Corfu town, lovely places to eat, whichever way you walk. A wonderful crepe place 15mins walk toward Benitses beach. Please be aware that pavement is not really a thing in Greece especially this area, you need a clear head walking down the road, keep children close and don’t expect to get a pushchair or buggy around easily. If you have a small child and want to get around then strap it to you if you can, and carry a buggy. There are blind corners please don’t walked on the inside of a corner you are likely to get hit. So overall great location, if you need a bed to sleep in and use the hotel as a comfortable base and you are not fussy then great. If the hotel experience is what you care about then this might not be for you.…
Very disappointing. We were given a family room not in the main building. Between us and the main building was the busiest of roads. We had a sea view but with the back of the main building in the way - it was not panoramic which was what we had expected given the hotel’s website. The stench from the sceptic tank was unbearable so we were unable to use the loungers down by the sea. The pool was better however again it was situated next the the main road. Breakfast was different. A very unusual selection - some days better than others. The hotel reception staff we found aloof and not particular friendly or welcoming. The food at the bar roof garden was good, however the service was very slow. The rooms were cleaned daily and I cannot fault the cleaning staff. Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.…
Me and my girlfriend were here for a week. There are 2 buildings but on booking is shown only the main one with the beautiful view but the other building is behind the main one and you can be placed there! If you stay there ask to be at the main building and also not on the first floor for sure. There is no elevator to the first floor only to the second floor and you have to carry all your luggages 1 floor up and down by yourself and it’s not comfortable at all if you have many baggages with you. The breakfast every day is the same which is discussing and we made 3 sandwiches per person and they told me we are not allowed to eat that many bread 😂 (Are they counting my slices of bread lmao) and there are no seasonal fruits. They served one of the days bananas and one of the days grapes which are winter fruits 😂. They serve one bottle of water which is like a liter and a half for a whole restaurant and when some food finishes they don’t come and serve a new one, you have to go and ask if they have more of that dish and if they do (most of the time they don’t have it) but if they do you have to ask them like few times to come and serve a new one! We had an issue with the staff, we wanted the AC to be on while we are at the beach so when we come back the room to be cold but unfortunately they turned if off each time because we are not allowed to turn on the ac while we are gone and there is some kind of air purifier that should be on 24/7 and it blows hot air which is very unpleasant and one time we switch the air purifier off and the lady from the reception had come to our room unlocked it while we were gone and moved our stuff and switched off our chargers to plug it back THE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO TOUCH OUR STUFF AND NOT APPROPRIATE AT ALL!!!! BE AWARE THEY GIVE YOU SHAMPOO OF 10ml BOTTLE AND IF YOU WANT A SHOWER GELL YOU SHOULD PAY 3€ AND THEY NEVER CHANGED THE SHAMPOO ONECE EVEN IT FINISHED FOR ONE DAY!!! WHEN THEY COME TO CLEAN THE ROOM EVERY DAY THEY ONLY CHANGE THE TOWELS AND THEY DONT CLEAN THE ROOM AT ALL!!!! The parking is really hard to get into even though we came with our own car which is a jeep 4x4. The entrance is really steep and sandy and if you rent a small car it’s a miracle if you can climb it. The parking is like 70 meters away from the hotel and you have to walk on the street because there is no sidewalk and it’s really dangerous because it’s a turn where you walk and there is no visibility at all not for you neither for the cars and when you get out with your car from the parking you should be very very very careful because there is not visibility at all not even an inch of visible road and you should be very aware of the cars climbing the road because they are accelerating so they can climb the road!!!!!! The phone in the room wasn’t working and each time we wanted to order something we had to go 6 floors up by foot because the elevator is so small and every time full with peak and so slow that it’s faster to ho up by foot order something and then go back the room and wait for the food/drinks and finally enjoy it!…
I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars due to minor things such as the smell which is not the hotel's issue and the carpet that needs to be replaced. The staff is really polite and helpful and the rooms were being cleaned daily. The highlight was the food in the restaurant/bar which was PERFECT! We also loved the private beach! The view is amazing and the airplanes made my husband drool with excitement. We never had any problem sleeping with the airport so close. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice stay in Corfu, being only 10 minutes by car from the Old Town.
Stayed here a little longer than originally planned due to timings of flights and not disappointed. What a great little hotel in an excellent location. I’m a bit of a plane geek which is why we chose to stay here and what a fantastic week we have had. Firstly, I’ll agree with what everyone else has said about the place - the staff are all incredibly friendly and really can’t do enough for you. Everyone has made us feel so welcome. Yes, the rooms are on the small and on basic side but I came here to go out and about, not to sit in my room for a week so it was absolutely fine. Very clean and with everything you could need. The breakfast is good - served 7-10. Be warned, if you leave it til late to go down you will miss out on the popular pastries etc because once they’ve gone, they’ve gone! We used the hotel bar several times for food and drink - great choices, amazing views, a really lovely place to while away the hours! I definitely recommend Nisos restaurant just down the hill - food amazing and again, staff so friendly. We also ate at the cafe belonging to the Hotel Aegli a few times - great food there too, bit more rustic surroundings but a lovely spot for some excellent food! We got the bus into town a lot because it was SO easy. €2.30 per person and about a 20 min trip. You are looking at about €10 a mile in a taxi so unless you are very flush I’d get the bus instead. The bus stop is just outside Nisos and has a QR code that you can scan which will tell you when the buses are due in live time - very clever! There are several bars and restaurants the other side of the causeway - the Skyview bar is where you will find the big corfu sign (always good for a picture!) What I will say that has surprised me about eating out over here is that you absolutely do not get ripped off - prices everywhere we have eaten have been very reasonable! Overall, a great little hotel. We didn’t use the pool as we sat on the sun beds by the sea which gave us direct access into the glorious warm water - just perfect. I would definitely recommend this hotel.…
Needless to say, the first thing you ll admire while you are checking - in at the reception, will be the lovely view from the balcony. Endless blue sea and the Pontikonisi. Then, the rooms were spacious enough, clean and most importantly, well equipped with aircondition and humidifier. To our surprise, as it is an affordable hotel and we werent expecting much, the breakfast was very rich. From cereals, cakes, croissants, local pastries and yoghurt to omelette, sandwiches, cold cuts, cheeses and many more, which varied each day. We also enjoyed our afternoon meals and coctails at the rooftop bar reasturant while watching the amazing view. Meals and coctails , compared to restaurants we tried at the corfu center, were tastier and more affordable. Finally, i could not forget to mention the friendly staff. From the reception to the catering and room service, all of them have been very friendly and helpfull and made our visit much more enjoyable. I would definitely reccomend staying at Pontikonisi hotel and cant wait for another stay, at our next holidays in Corfu.…
The only good thing about this hotel is the view but we couldn’t enjoy it because of the smell of sewage through the hotel. The smell would alternate from coming up the drains in the bathroom to coming from the tanks outside the window throughout the night, so we had to get up multiple times to open and close the window. Some reviews say that the smell on the beach is the sea, it’s not, it smells of poo. I don’t have a sensitive sense of smell but this was unbearable! Additionally the towels and bedding had various red, brown and yellow stains. Bathroom would flood after every shower, so everything was soaking. You need to put your feet in the shower when on the toilet because the bathrooms so tiny! I wouldn’t normally bother to write a review but this hotel is awful.
