We travelled with Sabah on a Shoestring and ended up a night at Sabah Tea Plantation in the longhouse. A cosy basic room with mossie net and a sink and access to clean toilets and showers. We were pretty much the only people here it was peaceful, relaxing and the sound of the night insets and birds were soothing. This... More

A very educational trip as we learnt about tea plucking and how tea is processed. Sabah tea is free from chemicals. The food at the restaurant was below our expectations. There was a tea shop. Would have been good if they had made tea for us to sample. We had to order several glasses just to sample the various types... More

When you travel to the more remote and isolated parts of Borneo I do not think you can fairly compare the average accommodation to that of a rich Western country. Essentially all you really require of such places is a comfortable, clean room and nutritious and tasty food. Sabah Tea Garden/Plantation meets this criteria easily. The rooms are very private,... It was lovely to escape the humidity found near the coast. Sabah Tea Gardens is situated near Ranau in the foothills of Mt Kinabalu. We stayed in the cottages however the long houses looked lovely if you don't mind walking a short distance to the amenities block. A tour of the tea factory is very interesting and there are several... More

Well if you have a sense of adventure this is the thing to do. We stayed in a long house, there were 8 of us and we are all normally used to "Hotel rooms" but boy what would we have missed if we had a real room. We had the traditional room with mosquito nets and fan for which we... More

The nice but basic accommodation is definitely made up for by the spectacular views surrounding the Sabah Tea Garden. It offers a unique experience in Malaysia and is not to be missed! The food was lovely and there was plenty of it. All the staff were very kind and helpful. We stayed in a cottage overlooking the tea plantation and... More

Setting is pretty. Accommodation is basic - clean but could do with new sheets. Food is plentiful and good. Restaurant is a bit tattered but a new one is under construction - will have a gorgeous view. We had 4 older children with us who did batik painting with the resident guide under the multi coloured cultural harmony tree -... More

Stayed here overnight in a bungalow which whilst being fairly basic was clean and comfortable and I had one of the best nights sleep during my three week trip. Yes there is no activities as such but just stop and drink in the scenery and wander the dirt paths swarming with birds. Food was good and as we were a... More

Good sized cabins containing sitting area and bedroom, small bathroom. Very quiet area a distance from villages. Comfortable overnight stay with a visit to tea plantation which is small. Being on a tour with 30 people it was hard to hear the guide explaining the tea making process but the guide was vwry passionate about the tea plantaion. Good view... More

Heard so much about this place. Took a trip there with family and friends. Such a long drive from Kota Kinabalu city. It turned out to be a disappointment. Not as we expected. Did not really see huge tea farm, just average size. The food offered at the restaurant was average, nothing great. In short, we were disappointed.
