When we planning our visit we were torn between staying in Palermo & visiting Monreale or visa versa. Given our modest budget we went for the latter and booked the Domus Notari. It was a brilliant choice. First let us deal with some practical points. If you are arriving by car - I suggest you park in the ParKing Duomo.... More

When visiting Monreale one should definitely stay in the Domus Notari. Ring the bell at the heavy wooden door and take the stairs into the old stately house of an Sicilian notary. Inside it looks like time stood still and the owners just left the house at it was 100 years ago. Filled with authentic furniture and vintage items this... More

Conveniently located in centre of Monreale. It's hard to park your car but you know that upfront if you prepare your journeys well. Breakfast is so so, bathroom facilities are not in the room. Well priced, average service (for example they don't sell bottles of water). Perfect for a stop over in beautiful Monreale

Domus Notari is certainly an excellent choice to stay in Monreale because of it's location alone. However, the rooms are nice (average) and look out into a fun small street. There is no front desk for the Domus, but you use the desk across the street at another hotel. This is also where you are served a good breakfast that... More

2 Septuagenarian tourists in rented car. Our room , up 27 steep steps from the road was a quaint, high ceiling room overlooking the alley and with a bathroom up 6 steep steps from the bedroom. You can almost shake hands with the guests in the hotel opposite. Very atmospheric part of town and very convenient for the Duomo and... More

Visited Monreale two weeks ago; stayed here based on reviews. Not disappointed; room was large and clean-if a bit quirky, as the bathroom(also spotless) was in the room but...required us to walk up a set of stairs. Not a problem, but definitely different. Breakfast was very good; was very close to cathedral and very quiet. Would recommend. Best part of... More

We found this hotel quite last minute as our plan to visit Monreale materialised late in our holiday. Given the low price we expected something simple, however we were pleasantly surprised to find the room spacious and characterful, the staff happy and helpful and the breakfast one of the best in our entire week on the island.

We booked two nights at the Domus Notari in order to visit the breath-takingly gorgeous Norman cathedral of Monreale. Luckily our sat-nav, which our hire car proved incapable of charging up, had just enough juice left to navigate us through the labyrinthine complexity of Monreale's streets. Even turning into the narrow one leading to the B&B was fraught with anxiety... More

This B&B is really a great experience, Daniel makes it more so. We stayed here with a single friend traveling with us and had two very nice rooms, with high ceilings and lots of space, it made for a pleasant visit in Monreale. We liked staying out of the hustle- bustle of Palermo because at night we could relax and... More
