I went to that wonderful hotel months ago, just before this pandemic started, I would like to start with the location, the hotel is very favored since it is very close to one of the most beautiful beaches that is Playa Pilar, so if you want to try new things you can even walk! it is very close. My room was in building 8 very close to all services, my waitress always gave me a very good service, my room was always very clean and very spacious. Very good food, I could always find a great variety in the buffet, and very good food in the restaurants. The activities are always very varied and fun, you had no time for boredom! Alexis is a star, like all the animation guys, all the workers are excellent, at the reception all very attentive as in the lobby. The truth is that this was a very nice trip and I can't wait to be able to travel to return to that hotel. I was very pleased. Thank you very much Iberostar !

My boyfriend and I visited Iberostar Player Pilar for a week last July and absolutely loved it! The staff there were all lovely, so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us throughout our stay. The hotel room was big and comfortable and the maids did an excellent job, always very clean! The pool area was great and the swim up bar meant there was never far to go for a drink! The beach was beautiful and offered lots of water sports such as kayaking and pedalos you got to do an hour a day free, we also spent a lot of our time snorkelling! The buffet food was really good, fresh and lots of choice, definately something for everyone! The hotel has a la carte restaurants to choose from (the Tapanyaki one was our favourite, great entertainment!) there are also snack bars dotted about throughout the day! All in all we had an amazing week, can not recommend this place enough!

We traveled with Sunwing and we got the Junior Suite Ocean View room 916 . The room was spacious, clean and well kept up. It had an King size bed. There are no coffee makers inside rooms. We have used the concierge to deliver us coffee; however, when coffee arrived it was mildly warm at best. A little note to management, I think coffee makers inside rooms would put a big smile on coffee lovers like myself. As for the beach, its small. If you're one of the people who like long walks on the beach, this is not your beach. The access to the water from land is less than 100 meters. However, there is a long peer with beds and a beech bar on the peer. For those who snorkel and enjoy the water, this is the best place I saw so far. I highly recommend water shoes so you don't step on a sharp rock or some marine life. As for the food, I honestly had no issues. There was a great selection, and chefs were always fantastic and welcoming. I strongly recommend Japanese restaurant, food is fantastic, but the presentation is something you have to experience. Special thanks goes to: 1) Rigoberto Machin (Sea food Chef) 2) Beisel Gonzalez and Yusdeny Mancebo (beach attendants) 3) Hernis ( waiter) 4) Ballemy (room service) Finally another special thanks to Franquel Madrigal Martin, supervisor who handled a difficult situation like a real professional. We were the last Canadian customers leaving the island during the Global COVID-19 outbreak, and until the very end he kept it cool and professional.

Family of 4 (2 teenagers). Air Transat. Booked in the Fall. Paid just over 7000.00 from YYZ. Flights - No issues at all. Cuba checked our temperatures upon arrival. Hotel Check-In - We arrived early but had no issues getting our room early. Hotel Room: We had an ocean view room with another adjoining room. Maid came everyday to provide towels, make beds, and re-stock our water. We did tip 1 to 3 dollars a day. We had issues with toilet in one room. One shower didn't drain properly. There was a hair dryer, two umbrellas, and iron. Buffet\Restaurants: Breakfast is the best. Fresh eggs, amazing breads, fresh fruit juice stations, etc. Cappuccino from the lobby bar excellent! lunch and dinner buffet repetitive. As with Cuba, food can be limited, but there were always options. TIP: Definitely go to the 24hr beachside grill for lunch! You can get freshly grilled pork/chicken/skewers/fish.They didn't always have Chicken Delight but when they did, we definitely ordered it! Al-A-Cartes: Japanese was entertaining. Gourmet was good but if you're really hungry the portions are smaller. Mediterranean was also good (not really Mediterranean food...) Generally, beef was tough. They did a Cuban Day where there was lunch on the beach. Was super good! Fresh food! Pulled pork sandwiches, rice, homemade potato chips, beans, etc.

December 19-26th, 2019 I would not recommend this resort; it needs a lot of work, and is overpriced for what they offer. We were there over Christmas and if it was 50% sold I would be surprised. Food was much of the same on a daily basis which I was prepared for as I had visited another area of the island 2 years ago. Al La Carte’s always had items that were not available, and just fair warning here if you choose as your appetizer a dish of root vegetables, you will get French fries, lol. Christmas Eve they put on a respectable buffet. It is also the evening upper management appears to have been flown in for the party and they were all about having you fill out their survey as you have your Christmas dinner? The pool which is where we spent most of our time was nice; however there were lots of loungers that were heavy with black mold, because there were not many people at the resort, those chairs were always empty. You will need to get up from your lounger to get a drink as there was no waiter service at the pool. There was an ice-cream station by the pool but it was never opened during our stay. Upon arrival I was disappointed to find out I was in bungalow#2, room 229. I had emailed with Janet at the resort prior to our arrival requesting to be put in bungalow 9 or 11. The gentleman who checked us in explained there was nothing he could do to accommodate us. We were disappointed and in no mood for his disrespectful attitude. When we got to the room, we were greeted by a lizard, and no air conditioning. We called the front desk to have someone check the air conditioning and were assured someone would be there to help right away. We waited 45 minutes which at that point my son went directly to the front desk. He was surprised when the front desk clerk motioned to a man sitting in the lobby having a drink and cigarette to hurry up and get to our room. It was clear he had a few and that he had no idea what to do. We decided to live with no air for the night as there was a balcony door we could open for a breeze. (The next day when we returned to the room midday it was working.) After we had something to eat and visited the lobby we went back to the room to sleep. As I had a better look around the room it was apparent that the only cleaning done in this room was the beds, the bathroom sinks/counter & toilet and garbage removed. As I laid my head on the pillow provided I was appalled that it had a very strong smell, the provided blanket in the closet was the same... I had the pillow replaced when I saw the housekeeper the next day but again same smell! So for the week I slept on top of the sheets fully dressed, with no pillow. Hardly what I expected for a pricey resort. The following are other items in need of fixing/repair, I have attached pictures. I will add here that 2 other couples I met had been moved to other rooms, which all had the same or other issues, in fact one couple moved 4 times! I understand Cuba is short on resources but surely a company of Iberostar stature has standards? No coffee pot provided in room, which is in the literature selling the resort. Apparently you need to ask for one which I did two times and one was never put in my room. Balcony light did not work, door hardware is in need of replacement & did not lock. The lounger pads were filthy. A panel of glass on the deck is cracked, several parts missing & in need of repair. Shower has mold, shower doors needed cleaning, they were dirty when we arrived and stayed that way the entire week. Bathtub calking is in need of redo is moldy Light in the toilet room does not shut off. Lamp shade between beds is moldy Walls in room are dirty need cleaning and/or painting. All doors are filthy. Boardwalk on the beach needs lots of repairs, lots of broken boards and wobbly railings not a place we spent much time because of this. My impression overall is that they were not fully booked and short staffed at the resort for the week we visited. I noticed building #1 was never even used the whole week we were there. The resort was quiet compared to others we stopped at to let off other passengers. The one resource they have is how hard & long the lowest paid staff work to try to make their guests happy with no resources to do so. Shame on Iberostar, I would never book into any of their properties again! In all fairness I will add that after several attempts I did receive a $350.00 refund off of the hotel portion of our trip.

Dear Regina, Although we sincerely regret reading that your recent stay at Iberostar fell short of your expectations, we are grateful for the time you spent sharing your feedback with us. We are, of course, disappointed you felt some areas of the resort were lacking in maintenance as our diligent team are on hand to fix any issues that are bought to their attention and also carry out regular checks of the hotel and grounds. Nonetheless, we have taken note of the points you raised. We would also like to reassure you that we are subject to regular hygiene inspections and that it is of utmost importance to us that all areas of the resort and facilities are in pristine condition. We are sorry if you felt this was not the case during your stay and we will pass your comments to the relevant manager. We would like to think that you will give us another opportunity and visit one of our many hotels in the future. Best regards, Quality Manager Iberostar Selection Playa Pilar
