The Accra Beach Hotel & Resort Barbados on the date 24/02/23 for 11 nights. I have booked your hotel for our Silver Wedding Anniversary by reviewing it on the web site and other reviews. We booked a Island view Junior suite, but when we checked in the hotel room 205 it was totally different from the images that were shown on the web site. The view from the balcony was over the kitchen extractor fans and a car parking and valeting area. The room was dark with a broken sofa, draws that had all fall off the runners so could not be used, curtains that were hanging off of the rails and did not close, a toilet that every time you flushed it would lift the lid of the system up, cold water, a kettle that we had to plug in and leave on the floor as there was only one plug socket next to the coffee area. No extra pillows or covers and a rusty old bed side light. We asked at the reception if we would be able to more to a nicer room and was told that the hotel was full, but by the next morning suddenly a room was available to move into. Room 303 A much brighter room looking over the swimming pool. Thinking that we could have a nice relaxing holiday now, the issues soon reoccurred. The bathroom shower pressure was so low it was imposable to wash shampoo out of your hair. This was reported to the reception four times before a maintanice man was called to view the problem, which was never really fixed. We had cold water for 9 days and it was only the last few days the was warm water. Ceiling fan never worked and telephone only worked after fiddling with the cables. The house keeper cleaned our room around seven times only she never replaced toilet rolls or left any extra, never left any soap, coffee or milk the only day she filled up the suppliers was the second day, then every other day we were calling reception yet again for milk and coffee. I would have thought that she would have a check list for each room. After constantly complaining regarding her mistakes and having no response from the front desk, we called room service and was told we would be charged 5% to bring this to our room, we could not believe what we were told, for her mistakes we would be charged for it. Our whole stay was becoming so inconvenient with problems every day that would not be resolved by anyone. Regarding the swimming pool, we never saw this being tested once or cleaned, it had all green dirt around the sides and rats running across the grass from the beach bar into the garden seating area. we asked to see the manger more than once and never saw anyone. We asked for a late check out 2.30pm so we went for a swim and went to return for a show etc to find our door had been locked by the reception as it had gone past checking out at 12 noon. Yet again back down to the front desk to recode our card to get back in the room but not only that we had 3 members of staff knocking on our door asking why we were still there after check out it was just getting worst and worst, this was the most staff we had seen at our room for our whole stay as all the other time they could not be bothered. The Hotel services are appalling from rude less than accommodating receptionist staff to mismanaged house keeping. This Hotel definitely spoilt our whole wedding Anniversary from start to finish. I would not stay at the hotel ever again so many nicer ways around.

We booked a stay at Accra Beach Hotel & Spa through AAVacations. It was a giant mistake. The place itself is a rundown hotel with ineffective front desk staff who don't stand by their word. Our room wasn't cleaned 2 nights in a row and we had to argue with a very rude, unfriendly, dismissive front desk staff member to get it done on the 2nd night. One manager even took my complaint and did absolutely nothing about it. She looked completely disinterested as well. The experience was so unpleasant that we decided to check out 5 days early and go elsewhere. The night we decided we'd be checking out the next morning, we spoke to someone at the front desk who told us that that was okay and they would advise AAVacations to refund us for the rest of our stay. Well, the morning of checkout they sang a different tune, saying it was up to AAVacations to make that decision. I contacted AAV upon returning home and they said the resort is refusing to okay the refund. Finding out these people can't be trusted was absolutely no surprise to me. The rooms are very old and dated with lime or calcium buildup in the shower heads, dysfunctioning AC, and a leaking toilet. The gym is run down as well with lots of janky equipment. The property wifi was also really bad. There was even a smoke detector low battery beeping throughout the night and we heard it throughout the morning as we checked out. The only good things are the location of the property and the lobby bartender, Fabian, who was wonderful.

Our holiday was 'Cruise & Stay with Tui. After a wonderful cruise on Tui Marella Explorer 2, where the staff, food, drink & entertainment were all extremely good, the Accra Beach Hotel was a real disappointment. Speaking to several people who'd been to the hotel before, things had really deteriorated since Covid. We thought it was due to staff leaving & not finding enough to replace them. On arrival at 3pm, we had to wait 90 minutes to get into our room. Servicing/cleaning the room was often late, sometimes forgotten. The manager’s welcoming Cocktail party was cancelled, with no notice & senior staff didn’t know why. There was virtually no hotel entertainment in the evening, sometimes a group in the beach bar. On the last day our room was flooded as a waste pipe had been knocked by the cleaner. Accidents do happen &, as compensation, we were offered another room & a free evening meal, which wasn’t special. On a positive note our room had a pool & sea view, as requested & paid for. Opposite the hotel, there is a supermarket & selection of restaurants, which were better & much cheaper than hotel food. We liked 'Jus Grillin'.

Accra Beach Hotel and Spa is definitely one that you should avoid on your trip to Barbados. The reception staff are extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. The hotel rooms are extremely old and untidy looking. We had booked the hotel way in advance of our travel to the hotel by paying the entire amount. However when we reached the hotel we were told that the rooms were not ready. The check in time is from 3pm and we had reached at 5pm. Finally we were assigned a room but then once we made payment for the levy (note, this is not the explicit anywhere but the hotel would anyways ask you to pay this) the room was changed to an extremely poor one, without any discussion with us. Our agony didn’t end there. We were made to wait until 8pm in the evening and as it were getting late we requested them for a refund which they denied. We finally had to call the police to intervene so that we can get the room which we had pre-booked after waiting until 9pm. To top it all they had charged us the levy twice, only to refund us the amount few days after we had returned from our trip. In short, try to avoid this hotel if possible. If this is not possible, make sure you don’t pay them the whole amount in advance as you don’t know what you’re setting yourself up for.

We'd seen the negative reviews on here and travelled with some trepidation. We couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel. Our room on the 3rd (UK numbering!) Floor had a great view from the balcony overlooking the pool, beach and sea. Room was spacious, with safe, fridge, air-conditioning and hair dryer all working perfectly. We slept most nights with the patio doors open and enjoyed the sound of the waves. Shower had very got water every day. Flow rate good, better after I teased out some scale in the shower head. Everywhere was clean, communal spaces cleaned several times a day, poolside hedges neatly trimmed, fresh beach towels available to order. Breakfast was excellent; I'd recommend the fluffy scrambled eggs with Bajan hot sauce and smoked marlin. Hash browns delicious too. Pool side was not crowded, clean and comfortable sunbeds. The guys on the beach were always available to set up beds and umbrellas. The beach and boardwalk are lovely. We walked up to see racehorses swimming at pebbles beach in Hastings, and also walked to St Lawrence gap, so the location had loads of things to see locally. Thank you for a great holiday Accra Beach.

This hotel is large and is in a great location. It is very popular and gets very busy and has many repeat guests. However it is also in need of a revamp as it has become tired with many niggles that eat into your enjoyment of the holiday. We booked for 2 weeks in February 2023 and knew about the peculiarities of the hotel as our friends are repeat guests. So we were not surprised at some of the negatives. We were allocated a room on the first floor (Room 126 Seaview/pool view avoid this one and 125 if I were you) which was located right above the atrium over the reception and the Sports bar. As a result it amplified all the noise of the people in reception and the sports bar and it was very noisy even in the early hours of the morning, so did not sleep very well for the first 5 days until we were moved. The hotel could consider filling in the atrium holes and making it a complete corridor to reduce the noise. We were eventually moved to a quieter room on the 2nd floor which was quieter but not as comfortable and the house keeping was very irregular. Our sheets never got changed in the 8 days we were in it and our towels were not changed very often and we had to ask to get fresh ones every few days. Some days the room was never made up which doesn’t bother us but they told us it should be done everyday. The loungers on the beach had seen better days with many being broken or the canvas was so stretched that your bottom touch the sand! Most uncomfortable and I could not lie on them for more that 10 mins at a time. People watching me trying to climb out of them must have had good laugh at me!! So we went to The Tiki Bar further down the beach and hired comfier sun beds and you got your money back to spend at their bar and restaurant. The hotel lost out on our lunch and drinks spending as a result. The pool it was always 'towelled up' early every morning so there were no free sun beds. I watched them get up and put towels on the beds from my balcony but the really annoying thing was that they didn't turn up until lunch time to use the towelled beds. (people you know who you are, stop being so selfish!) The beach bar was good fun at happy hour/ sun downer time and we did got for a rum punch before changing for the evening. Never used the restaurant as we were told the food was average but over priced but there are many good restaurants within walking distance. The staff were pleasant but not very organised and very much on Bajan time, still when on holiday a slower pace is expected. The beach towels ran out on some of the days and they still have a problem with the water supply so the showers were often just a trickle of water. With some investment and better organisation of the running of the hotel it could be fantastic place to stay. Will we return? No, not unless it gets a major refurb. But if you are happy to accept its foibles then it is a great hotel in a fabulous location on the South West coast of Barbados.

Not the cleanest place. The decor is very dated. But my room … you couldn’t open the blinds. I had to call maintenance and they used a drill to open them. I’m like really ? The AC was very noisy. The plumbing has issues. The shower and toilet make a very loud noise when the toilet is flushed and when the shower is turned on . There is no comforter on the bed. Just a sheet and small blanket in closet. I had to ask for another blanket . It does have a very good location on the beach. But no one at the front desk explains anything.. like where breakfast is or where to get beach towels. Would not stay here again.

Every bad review I read before coming is 100% true , I have stayed at many hotels over the last 25 years and this probably sticks in my head as one of the worst, and I haven't even got to my room yet. The checkin doesn't work its 4 .12 and I got here at 2 pm and I am still waiting for my room. Dreading what happens once I actually get a room

My overall 4 night stay was horrible from the beginning. My check in was amazing and some of the staff are awesome. The lobby is nice but to encounter 3 huge rats running around by the entrance was horrifying, especially at a hotel that is rated a 4star. I’m not oblivious that rodents exist but not acceptable for a guest to see 3 huge rats running around at the entrance. When I spoke to the duty manager I expressed to her about my anxiety of having a room on the side the rats where running around, she inquire is the rats tried to attack me. Anyway ain’t much the duty manager can do because the property is completely booked, My room view is an “island view” but it’s more like a gully. My room is next to some type of machinery or generator that’s extremely noisy. I dealt with the noise night one because I was told the property was booked. I didn’t get much rest night one and had a migraine headache the next day. I asked front desk if it’s possible to turn it off, but after maintenance came to the room they said it wasn’t possible to shut off. They then move me to another room with the same exact issue. Apparently it’s a generator in the structure of the hotel the cant be shut off at all. I mean this noise was excruciating to listen to all day and night. I was moved to another room with no noise but dirty. The toilet had a dirty brown stain, there was mold growing on hairdryer that was installed on the wall. The water will only get hot during the day when the sun is out. And I’m guess that maybe cause solar power is used to heat the water. In the first room the shower faucet was dirty with some kind of residue. The bedding was thin and only had flat sheets and I was able to see the mattress protector. The mattress is hard and the blanket and sheets rough no kind of softness. The overall bedding was atrocious. The towels felt like sandpaper being rubbed against the skin. The light switches were busted in the third room and the light stopped working. There was no phone in the room, in case of an emergency I would of been screwed. It’s frustrating having to ask/request basic things to be done at a hotel that rates a 4 star. I shouldn’t experienced walking into a room for the first time and it’s dirty or a room that doesn’t represent what was advertised. My experience at this hotel was horrendous. The whole purpose of me staying at a 4 stars beach Hotel and Spa was to experience amenities to help me relax and grieve the lost of a loved one. Not quite sure this property should be rated a 4 star.

Overall it was an alright experience. The hotel grounds were well kept. Checkin , we arrived at 4:30pm room was not ready until after 6:30. They gave us a welcome drink upon arrival from the bar. Others waited even longer , this was the same thing everyday in the lobby so it’s a chronic problem. Two complaints of the room, there was no safe in the room and this was never rectified for the three days we spent here (was suppose to be fixed next morning) and the shower was only ever warm at best and low flow so was hard to actually rinse clean. We read of similar issues ahead of time so was not unexpected and we were prepared for these short comings. The room Was clean, AC worked well and everything seemed good. They gave us a free buffet the first day for the issues with room availability and the safe which was a nice gesture. The food we ate was pretty tasty but we were just tired from travelling and wanted to eat and go to bed. The hotel is on the best part of Rockley beach and lots of amenities are near by for food and groceries. More of a bobbing in the waves kind of beach but it was refreshing. All the staff interactions we had at the resort were pleasant. We were able to check our bags with the bell hop after check out until we needed to cab to the cruise port which was nice. Overall location is very convenient to restaurants and bars, hotel could use some work, staff were friendly and pleasant. Some minor improvements would elevate it up a little more (fix hot water/pressure issue with showers). Hotel grounds were well kelt and it’s easy to get around the place quickly. Bar staff were quick for service both in the lobby and at the beach.
