What a true gem! Impeccably maintained apartments. Absolutely stunning apartment (Deluxe on the ground floor), a little bit of road noise but remember you are in the hub of Rockley with everything (and I mean everything…Supermarkets, bars, restaurants, banks, coffee shops etc.) we have a fully equipped kitchen including a full size fridge/freezer, full oven, microwave, toaster, coffee percolator, all the utensils you could ever need. Double walk in walk in shower that is fantastic. Two double beds (extremely comfortable) with a choice of pillows (if not suitable just let them know for exchange) in the deluxe room with plenty of hanging & storage space. TV, USB plugs and WiFi is extremely good here. Air conditioning & a spacious balcony. Linen/towel changed twice weekly. This said nothing is any problem , therefore if you need clean or extra towels (I did as I have long hair and like a towel around my head after a shower), just ask at reception and these will be provided free of charge. Seriously nothing is too much trouble so don’t leave it until the end of your holiday and complain about it, just ask as they do everything they possibly can to make your stay as comfortable and as memorable as possible. There is a lovely pool area complete with loungers/parasols. There is an eating area nearby the pool complete with a BBQ/utensils and a full sized fridge/freezer for your food/wine/beers, nothing has been forgotten here and if there is anything missing they definitely want to know! The beach is immediately across the road. Sunloungers/parasols can be hired for $30BBDS per person per day from the Tikki Bar of which you get a token back for $25BBDS to spend on food/drink at the Tikki Bar. The beach is white sand, clean and beautifully kept. Seriously, I cannot recommend these apartments highly enough and we have already booked for a month in May! We have stayed here as a couple for the last four years and the Southern Surf checks all the boxes for us. A pristine unit with attentive and friendly cleaning staff and a host, Andrew, that is responsive to any requests. One year the A/C unit went on the fritz and it wasn’t just fixed, it was immediately replaced with a new A/C unit within an hour or two.
The location is perfect. The popular local beach, Accra/Rockley (right across the road) has a relaxed and safe vibe with pristine waters and drinks nearby. At the end of the beach is the boardwalk that provides a scenic route for joggers and walkers, and has a collection of small restaurants for snacks and drinks. Our unit had a small but fully equipped kitchen, and with two grocery stores nearby we were able to prepare our own meals at our leisure.
For days when a break is needed from the beach, Southern Surf has a lovely swimming pool with plenty of room on the deck whether you prefer privacy or a gathering of friends.
Southern Surf has many returning guests (we met one family with four generations of Southern Surf enjoyment!). These guests return for a reason: the Southern Surf soon feels like a home away from home; it provides a relaxed and carefree environment in the best location in Barbados.

Southern Surf has exceeded my expectations from the very beginning! The cleanliness is impeccable. The decor and colours used in the room made everything seem more spacious. My family was very comfortable. All the kitchen utensils, cutlery, dishes were very clean and neatly packed away. The entire kitchen and everything in it was spotless. There was more than enough storage for all our stuff. You can even tell that the blankets were newly washed and smelled refreshing. The swimming pool area is cozy/private, and is set up with BBQ grill, fridge, picnic tables, lounge chairs etc.. The landscaping provides a relaxing tropical environment just to chill out. Andrew and Trudy were amazing. They checked with their guests often to see if anyone needed anything. They were always available to their guests in person. And the BEST part about Southern Surf is the location! You literally walk across a 2 lane road and you end up on Rockley beach. Fantastic! Our room was so close to the beach that while in the water I picked up wifi and was able to call friends and family on WhatsApp. They were all shocked. How awesome is that!! It was easy for us to take public transport to Oistins fish fry and enjoy a night out. Transport is always at your fingertips. We are definitely coming back to Southern Surf. Our time here was amazing!

Lovely apartment in a very convenient location. Clean and comfortable with very helpful welcoming staff. I had one of the ground floor apartments and had a nice view over to the beach, with a good-sized floor level balcony. Decent sized and equipped kitchen and a lovely bathroom with a big shower. Plenty of drawers and wardrobe space to get yourself situated for a longer stay. Beach is twenty feet away and shops restaurants etc are also an easy walk away. Parking is available also, a small area but ample if other guests park considerately. Would be glad to return one day.

We booked a deluxe apartment after contacting Andrew directly via email. The apartment was perfect in every way we had a balcony overlooking our favorite beach right across the street Accra beach the room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was amazing with a rain head shower had a awesome full kitchen beach towels were provided daily, washer and dryer available and Books to borrow and Read on the beach! Great, pool and noodles you could borrow we left one there that we bought. Chair Rentals across the street from two different venders one came with the tiki bar and you got a $25 credit that you could use at the bar for food or drinks only $10 American for two chairs and an umbrella and a table. TRUDY worked in the office and had done everything possible to make our trip. Perfect. She helped us find a rental car at a great rate she even brought us a small cooler from home for us to use to take to the beach. Also had some wonderful friendly conversations the night we arrived we didn’t get in till 11 PM, but Andrew met us there , they do not have an elevator. But they have a luggage elevator and sent our luggage up met us up there showed us around showed us how to work at everything including the air conditioning, and by the way, they have excellent Wi-Fi and cable television, American channels, fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. and then he even gave us a ride in his personal car, down the street to the minimart to get some stuff for breakfast and creamer for our coffee. The service was outstanding the maid came every day to clean, but the apartment was spic and span. We’ve already asked them to hold us apartment for the month of February. You can’t go wrong there. Thanks again for everything.

We have stayed at many hotels, apartments and Airbnb’s on the South coast (between Bridgetown and Oistins) over the years but for many reasons, this is one that we would HIGHLY recommend.
Firstly the owner works so hard and simply cannot do enough for the guests. They are normally available in person if you have any issues but if not, then phones are located on every level of the building with details of essential contact numbers. We were continually asked if everything was ok with our room and whether we needed extra bath or beach towels.
The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. We particularly liked the standard of the bathroom and shower as that is just our thing when we rate a room. Our room was a standard studio. They also have deluxe studios and an adjacent and very spacious 4 bedroom villa which sleeps 8.
The kitchenette in the room was more than adequate with an immaculate cooker and large fridge with small freezer. There is no bar serving food on the complex, however, they have made a lovely little BBQ area which is directly next to the pool. This area also has a large fridge. I have to mention the poolside washroom whilst talking about the outside area as this is absolutely lovely.
If you do go out and about, then the location of these apartments cannot be beaten in our opinion. Directly over the road is The Tiki Beach Bar which also offers a really good package with beach beds included. Leave the apartments, turn left and within a three minute walk you have MOJO. This is great for food (burgers are immense) and Wednesday is live reggae music night. A couple minutes further walk and you will find yourself at Worthing Square which has an array of eateries and the Mount Gay Bar. There is often entertainment there but check their FB page as it is variable. Slightly further down the road you will have access to Crystal Waters and Carib Beach Bars which are also both great. Crystal Waters is a bit of a thing on Sunday afternoons from about 2pm. A further 10 min walk (so now about a 25 min walk from the apartments) and you will be in the famous St Lawrence Gap.
Now rewind to the apartments and turn right, you will walk down the length of ACCRA / Rockley beach. This beach is fantastic and at the far end you will find the start of the Hastings boardwalk which is approx a mile long and has various bars along its route. Before you get to the start of the boardwalk, there is a small mall on the right which has a lovely place for breakfast called Picasso’s. (5 mins from the apartments). Pass the mall and turn right at Bubbas sports bar, you will think you are walking away from it all but do not be fooled. If you take a left turn approx 200m up the road you will find Shakers restaurant which is simply superb for steaks and ribs.

Southern Surf is an excellent place to stay in Barbados. It is clean and safe and has all the amenities you need. Bed was comfortable and kitchen is well stocked with a fridge, microwave, stove, toaster, etc. Room has a safe to store your valuables. The property has a nice pool with lots of lounge chairs and there is an outdoor picnic and BBQ area as well.
Location is great for restaurants with many excellent places to eat within walking distance. A short five minute taxi ride takes you to St. Lawrence Gap for more dining options. There is also a convenience store within a five minute walk where you can purchase some groceries and alcohol.
The WIFI is strong and you can even get it from Rockley beach which is directly across the road.
The majority of the other guests we met were repeat visitors to this property which says a lot about the hosts and staff who were very friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Southern Surf and I highly recommend this property to anyone considering staying in this area of Barbados. We will definitely be back.

This is my second time staying at Southern Surf (Sept/Dec 2023) Highly recommending that place and its deserving of a 5 Star review.
Andrew and Trudy are truly great people. Booking was smooth and easy. Always answered any questions we had by text. They're very pleasant, helpful, accommodating and always checking in to see how things are.
We stayed in a deluxe studio at the front corner of the building facing the main street and parking lot, second floor. It does get loud early in the morning due to the traffic (so bring ear plugs or don't book this specific room if you'd like to sleep in!!) This didn't bother us at all! The studio is equipped with everything you need/basic essentials such as bath and beach towels, hair dryer, laundry basket, alarm clock, stocked kitchen with utensils/dishes, extra rolls of TP, soap bars, cable tv wifi etc.
The pool area is well kept and clean. comfortable loungers, chairs, plenty of shade, outdoor bathroom, BBQ to use and beautiful gardens. Lots of space available to spread out. pool noodles are provided.
I felt safe in this place, lots of cameras around the property, main gate to access the building is locked and only accessed by a key, land line available for emergencies at the entrance, on the main road.
Couple tips and need to know info... *On site laundry is provided for $5BBD each for wash and dry. *Shower towels and sheet change is on certain days, check with the front desk for your assigned day. Only two shower towels are provided for the room. I packed an extra shower towel. *fresh beach towels provided daily in the main office *land line for local calls only provided on first floor of the building *information board with taxis and activities available
I will be staying at Southern Surf again when I return to Barbados and will always refer this to anyone asking!

Spent 12 days on an extended business trip at Southern Surf Apartments, the entire experience was simply awesome. Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed to the property by Trudy who escorted me to my apartment and did a quick familiarization tour of the amenities and features of my home for the next 2 weeks. She even shared contact information for herself and Andrew in the event I needed anything during my stay, making them both fully accessible. Andrew was also a very personable and attentive host, who took every opportunity to solicit feedback on my stay and to find out if I needed anything in my apartment, service excellence at its best.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable with well appointed decor and furnishings. I really felt like my home away from home. Apart from the apartment’s comfort, the location was perfect, situated within close proximity to the famous Accra Beach, Tiki Bar, Champers, Starbucks, Cheffette’s and many other restaurants and dining options.
I therefore hold no reservation in recommending Southern Surf Apartments as an option when in search for affordable accommodation in Barbados. It will definitely be my first choice moving forward.

Apartment was clean, practical, enough space and with the amenities, including full kitchen and balcony, needed for business or holiday. A great and affordable option to the hotels of the are (have stayed at five different hotels in Hastings so far (this one included), and I would choose Southern Surf again. Small pool area in the back, although I didn´t use it since the beach is so near.
I love Hastings/Rockley for its nice beach(es), walking distance to all you need, not being too touristic, the pleasant boardwalk and more. The road is quite noisy both day and night, though, but that is Rockley for you I guess. In a way part of the vibe.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, afternoon departure was no problem which really makes a difference when you have an evening flight on the day of departure.
