We were sceptical about the reviews as we had never been to the carrabien or a Sandals resort before but the reviews on here are sadly true. We are still here with three days left of our honeymoon and I can assure all readers this is not a 5 star hotel it is 4 star at best. The Pros Beach is lovely as is the sea and the food I truly cannot fault. The Cons Not enough staff the restaraunts are extremely slow as is the majority of the bars, with regards to room services and concierge unless you book a butler forget it as it takes 3/4 calls to even get a glass let alone anything else we requested. The sun beds are honestly a joke I would advise all guests to bring their own umbrella as there are barely enough sun beds but if you want an umbrella you need to get up at 5am as the butlers reserve them all for their guests and we have even seen arguments where the butlers have removed the towels of non butler guests. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful however we experienced a few which really brought down the service and was actually quite rude. We asked for the honeymoon package and had to send our marriage certificate but still haven't received anything even after chasing at reception. We also tried the candlelit dinner experience - again the food and the server I couldn't fault however the tables are too dark to the point you cant see your food and it felt too rushed! Personally I will not return to Sandals in the future and there are a lot of people around the hotel that we meet every day saying exactly the same thing.

Hotel's Favorite
5star resort. From the time our butler service picked us up at the airport, the ride to the airport. The meeting of our butlers to our room. Every day was a breathtaking experience. Jane was our main butler and she was a total gem. We loved the 5 star service. Butler service is the way to go. There is so much to do at this resort. The beaches are amazing, the bowling ally is a huge win win. The redline spa and the spa manager is incredible. We truly enjoyed every minute of this resort. Highly recommend you check it out.

After reading the numerous reviews on here we were very apprehensive. However, what I can say is ignore them and just book it! We have just had 9 nights and I cannot fault a thing. We booked a club room and were lucky enough to be in the new block, St Lawrence House. We arrived early and were met with cold towels and a cocktail. We checked in and were taken for a Covid test (uneventful and results back before breakfast the following day). Had lunch and then was escorted to our room. Our room, 11210, was spotless, spacious with balcony soaking tub. House keeping came everyday and the mini bar was also restocked everyday. To be fair apart from sleeping we spent very little time in the room but it was a great base. All the restaurants we visited were excellent, we had to wait one evening about 45 minutes for our food to arrive at the Italian but that is hardly a problem. Bombay is a great place and we visited there twice. Schooners on the waterfront does a great breakfast - it does get busy so recommend getting there early but the longest wait we had was half hour for a table. American Tavern does a great pot roast! The rooftop bar is a must as the views are awesome especially at sunset. French cafe does good coffee, cakes and ice cream as does the donut shop! There are plenty of pools, the main pools get very busy so if you want a lounger be prepared to get up early. We never had a problem getting a lounger as we weren’t too fussy about which pool we were by - they all have bars! The grounds are perfectly kept and there is plenty of wildlife running around! Every single member of staff we came across always spoke and from housekeeping to ladies in the club lounge everyone was friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Covid test for return is also done on site and seamless as was check out and transfer back to airport. I cannot rate sandals highly enough and would like to say thank you - we will be back.

It was a shame to write this review - we were so lucky to get away This was our first visit to Sandals and I would some it up as sometimes 3star sometimes 5 star a really odd experience to be honest - the staff were all very professional and friendly just think the hotel get caught out by the number of people at the hotel - simply not enough staff, not enough tea bags , not enough sun beds !!! But food was excellent in all restaurants we managed to eat in all of them and honestly did not have a bad meal - we just had to wait and we don’t mind normally but waiting an hour for a starter or between courses was not hood enough sorry - Went diving and the dive team were great Nikki , and the crew were good fun and the captains I met not only knew what they were doing but did it with a smile on their faces We were lucky had a swim up room but because trees had grown over the years (outside the resort) we only got sun 2 hours a day so not what we wanted but could not be moved as hotel was full - I get it and staff were helpful but could not help ! Staff on excursions desk were helpful but again hire cars were not available when we wanted it as again busy - when we got hire car could not fault it , clean fuel’d and had a great drive around the island - do it hire a care and drive round the island - caves in the middle of the island well worth it - Harrington caves We always managed to get a sun bed by the small pool by our room 10101 so no complaints and always had tools We are not big drinkers - unlike a lot of people at Sandals but quality was good and plentiful Summary - a nearly good holiday , food was excellent just was missing something as too many people for the staff to cope with

We booked sandals Barbados for our honeymoon and were so excited to come, as previously we’d heard nothing but great things about sandals. I’ll start off by saying that Barbados is a beautiful place, and the hotel grounds are also beautiful. There’s lots of space, the pools, beaches and general scenery met all expectations. However, from day 1 we did start to see cracks show in our experience, no matter how hard we tried to ignore them. To keep it brief but informative, I’ll go through our issues one by one. Firstly- cleanliness (or lack of). For us, cleanliness isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. The first glance of the hotel was that in most places, it’s dirty. For a start, our room was cleaned twice in our entire week stay. When we arrived into the room, the bath was dirty, it looked like sand or like someone’s tan had come off in it. The glasses provided were dirty. We did get fresh towels every day, but only because we asked for them. The turndown service also only happened 3 times out of the week. Our sheets weren’t changed once, we had to sleep in sand and old make up the entire stay. I did once ask the cleaner why we had only had our room cleaned twice, she said she just didn’t manage to get to us. Unfortunately, the lack of cleanliness wasn’t restricted to just the room. Spices restaurant is partly outside so birds do fly around. That’s not sandals fault of course, however, 4 times we had to change chairs whilst being sat down for lunch in the restaurant because there was bird poo on every single chair we were given. I’ve attached some photos. When I called someone over and politely asked it be cleaned, the waiter tutted, got another chair and put the dirty one filled with bird poo on the table next to us- for the next couple to be seated there. When we first arrived, I asked for a beer at Dinos. When I got the beer I could see grime on the inside of the glass. I scraped it with my nail and thick brown dirty scraped off the sides. It honestly was disgusting. The pool bars are so dirty the smell almost makes you gag. I was going to let someone know, but after 40 minutes of trying to get someone’s attention I gave up. Now onto service. Unfortunately, we both agreed it was the worst service we’d ever experienced. I know you see a lot of that on here and it’s a big statement, but really, it was. There were very few staff who were polite, but we didn’t encounter even one that was remotely helpful. I’ve seen similar reviews from recently which have also mentioned this. When we got there, we couldn’t reserve restaurants as they were all full? There was walk in ones, but what nobody tells you is that you are waiting a minimum of 1 hour to even get seated, about 30 minutes to get a drink and around another hour and 15 to get your food. There was one couple who were waiting for a table at 7:20pm and they didn’t get their meals until 10:35pm. Others walked out quite often, because the wait was just too much. A lot of the restaurants the air con either ‘didn’t work’ or just wasn’t on, which made the wait even less bearable. If you asked staff where your food was, or even if you could please get served, they either point blank ignored you and rolled their eyes or just said ‘sorry about that’ with a blank expression. Neither made a difference. The bars around the pool were the worst for this, the bar staff would literally be standing having a 15 minute chat whilst the queue at the bar filled up. Someone even made a joke that they purposely don’t make eye contact so they don’t have to serve you. Everytime it took an angry customer to ASK that they serve the 10+ people are the bar for some kind of incredibly slow half hearted effort. The sun bed situation is a major issue of it’s own but all I’ll say is unless your there at 6am- you ain’t getting one. And youl look around and see 80% of the beds are reserved but unoccupied all day. Once again, nobody seemed to care. The final point is the handling of the complaints is just barbaric. When we got to our room (honeymoon suite), we wanted to put the tv on during our chill time. We noticed only one channel worked. We aren’t on holiday to watch tv of course, but the principle is the issue here. On our first day, we very politely mentioned the tv didn’t work. They said they’d sort it out. The next afternoon, no progress. We went again, we were told they’d sort it. No lie, this process happened for 6 days straight sometimes twice a day. When we were voicing our concerns, the receptionist would answer the phone to answer other calls whilst we were having a conversation with her. I’ve never experienced anything like it. When we asked about other things, such as the wait times, the cleanliness, they literally just look at you as if to say ‘we don’t care.’ When we checked out, we weren’t even asked how our stay was and neither was other couples. I don’t know if this is because they simply just don’t care or they know what is going to be said and they don’t want to hear it. It’s such a shame to write such a bad review, we really did try to put the negatives aside and enjoy our holiday, but it honestly was just so bad it couldn’t be ignored. I really hope they improve in the future as it has so much potential. But for now, any potential holiday makers considering going here- don’t.
