Warm welcome as soon as you arrive by guest services in this exceptional all inclusive hotel. Nothing too much trouble, if you don’t see it, please ask and if possible they deliver. Sarah and Yvonne exceptional in Elements restaurant whilst Anthony and Akeem provide great service for drinks by the pool and bars. Don’t forget to visit Briza where a Ronaldo will make you a bespoke cocktail and Skye provides great service. You can see what this team are trying to achieve and there’s every confidence it will just get better and better: Take a trip and find out how difficult it is to say no, when they ask if your coming back.

We first stayed here back in November 2017 and really liked the hotel (then called Oceans 2) In April this year we received an e-mail telling us abut the new part of the hotel being built and the refurbishments they were doing also if we booked now we would get a large discount , the hotel was due for completion in september/october 2021 , we normally come to barbados in november so we booked the hotel direct and arranged our own flights. A few weeks before our arrival there was a lot of speculation on social media about the hotel not being finished , being a building site , no restaurants open etc, etc I joined trip adviser to find out more info , but no real joy. The hotel sent an e-mail telling us the spa and 'Oro' restaurant would not be finished in time for our visit , but everything else was ok. not the end of the world . The night before our flight i received a phone call from Jacqui McDermott the sales and marketing manager , she explained the reson for the call was to explain exactly what was going on with the hotel , our rooms in the new building were not ready yet due to fire regulations and we had been upgraded to suites in the main hotel , she also explained about the restaurant and spa and the ongoing works , we were very gratefull for the call although a bit dissapionted about the rooms but hey ho. When we arrived we were shown our rooms (brilliant) and jacqui said they would try and move us into the new building on monday , we settled in and began enjoying our holiday , on looking around the next day you could see that the new reception although built was not finished and other work was going on , the new building did not look to be affected by this apart from work on the top floor , none of this affected us and we cracked on enjoying ourselves , the food was outstanding and bar service and staff excellent , beach and views out of this world. Monday came and i received an e-mail from jacqui to tell us she and the general manager Elisabeth Alleyne would meet us at the new build building that afternoon. When we met elisabeth she explained in detail the problems they have had due to covid and the delays that had caused materials and equipment to arrive late and push back the opening , you could tell that she was concerned for all her guests and was very sorry if this had upset our holiday (it had not) We were shown to the ground floor forward faceing swim up rooms and asked would we like these ins tead of the rooms we had booked (not swim up) all four of us were over the moom this was like 2 holidays in one , we were moved in at 5pm the rooms were gorgeous. Back to Elisabeth and some coments made by another guest review , this lady is not you run of the mill general manger that you never see , each day she alawys said hello and asked about our stay , she would not walk past a table without straightening the chairs or adjusting a pillow , she would ask about the rooms and if everything was as expected , towards the end of our stay we had a bit of a party between us and in the proceedings we lost a wedding ring in the sand near to the pool bar , everybody joined in the search but to no luck. The next day elisabeth came to see us and told us she had arranged for a local chap who had a metal detector to come to the hotel around 4.30 , after a long and anxious day the guy turned up with elisabeth and began the search after 15 minutes and to loud applause from the crowd whe had gathered the ring was found ( i am sure elisabeth had enough to do with the hotel , without this problem) The next day before we left i thanked her for all her help , all the staff we met on leaving said goodbye and wished us well , cannot rember all there names but special thanks to 'Gino' , Akeem, and of course 'Isiah' A truly brilliant holilday and we hope to return in april for my 60th Thank You 02

We thoroughly enjoyed almost all aspects of our stay. With the possible exception of loud music and people being allowed to smoke. The trip we went on was splendid. The highlights were the Botanical Gardens and the view from the old lighthouse. We especially enjoyed the sunset cruise on our last night. Thanks to all concerned.

We chose O2 after finding it online and seeing it had availability. We didn’t know much about it as it was undergoing a big reno and hadn’t reopened but the location was great. We traveled with 4 kids (18, 17, 4, 3). We were so impressed with the quality of the hotel and the staff. Joy-Ann and Carolann from Guest Services really stood us and gave us the best guest service experience we’ve ever had. The food was pretty good and the rooms were really nice and spacious. Everything felt upgraded. They had an amazing buffet spread for New Years Eve. It would have been nice if there were more water sport amenities for the older kids but Barry’s Surf School is right next door. The gym facilities are good and the staff was very accommodating. We highly recommend a stay at O2.

I will start by saying this is a lovely hotel with some fantastic staff and a great location - but having recently renovated, rebranded and now marketing itself as a boutique 5* resort it still has some way to go to elevate itself from its 4* past. Firstly at present the hotel should be called O2 beach club and ‘no spa’ - the new facility is not finished and is unlikely to be so for weeks. The temporary massage bed in a converted guest bedroom is far from the ambience and facility sold to us on booking. The booking service for this temporary facility is also confusing and far from reliable - our party rescheduled our afternoon for massages, only to be cancelled on the day due to a ‘misunderstanding’. The current food and beverage offer is also reduced as the new restaurant - Oro is not open and also looks to be weeks away from completion.. again not what was sold when booking and below the 5* standard and 5* price paid. In general the main shortfalls are on service and details: - the hotel regularly ran out of beach towels! We waited 25 minutes one morning before we could leave - wasting guest time & experiences. The same happens with room towels, often taken during morning clean and not returned until 3pm+ - Some of our group had no glasses in the room even when given a free mini bar (attention to detail lacking)… - Drinks - there was nearly always a long wait in the restaurant for drinks (15/20 mins or more even for coffee), if poolside or on the beach - it was the exception to be asked if you wanted a drink (not as advertised) and you regularly had to wander off to the bar and ask. - No ‘whats on’ or hotel guide - we never received any information about whats on at the hotel or the organisation/options for lunch or dinner - we only found on our last day a small Christmas guide book at reception and an information tv (at the old reception building)… there was nothing in the room or offered at check-in. Theres also no ‘island attraction information’ at the concierge or in the room - staff always say ‘just ask’ but its nice to browse and see whats on offer before hand? - Restaurants lack a clear leader/host - there is never anyone clearly in charge and several times during the stay this created some confusion and little disappointments e.g waiting 15 min at new years eve to be seated at a table we had booked…with several empty ones around the restaurant. Service is polite and friendly but could be much smoother and customer focused with a front of house manager directing staff properly. - The split between the new reception and old reception (now a concierge) creates chaos for the guests - taxis/ visitors come to the wrong place and comms between reception and concierge is often challenging. Some simple signage or relocation of the concierge to the main reception would alleviate the issues. - New rooms are also not fully up to standard . The little things make the difference between 4 & 5* … the new suites are very nice but felt rushed and small details are missing like lights around the dressing table mirror, rugs, sufficient clothes hangers (6 per room?). Theres also no consistence between the rooms as to what is the ‘standard’.
