Detailed Reviews
I cannot say enough about our recent stay here. The staff were so friendly and made us feel like we were home. Accommodations were perfect for what we needed and very reasonable. Rooms were clean and comfortable. But above everything else was how we were treated - even during the pandemic! Just can't say enough about Wendy and her staff! Great location as they are within walking distance of most everything - including a short walk up to the main road where you can catch a van or bus into the city. We loved our stay here!

Great local barbados hotel opposite the beach. Lots of bars and restaurants around to keep you entertained. Great place to stay that is close to all amenities. Breakfast was good and the room was clean and met all expectations. Good stay and will return in the future. Close to all restaurants and bars, and supermarket…

Do not stay here if you enjoy sleep! The pillow was made of cotton wool and very uncomfortable. The windows were not soundproof -be warned we were woken up at the crack of dawn by barking dogs, cockerels, DIY noises to name a few. Not ideal especially when on holiday. We ended up cutting our stay short as we were exhausted. Positives-reasonably priced, good location for beach and 'the gap', clean enough.

I recently spent a week at Monteray Apartments, St Lawrence Gap, Barbados. I was given a one bedroom suite as there were no studios available when I arrived. The rooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable. The rooms are in need of some updated furniture and better lighting in the living room area. The television in the room only had the 2 local stations - no cable. There was a safe in the room. The kitchen was well equipped, except that a coffee maker would have been a most welcome addition. The bathroom was clean and functional - would have liked a bathtub. The staff were all very friendly, happy and helpful. The public areas and pool always clean, and the property well maintained. There is a small restaurant in the hotel and the food is reasonable and wonderful. This was my 35th trip to Barbados since 1972. I would recommend this property. It is not the Hilton but I do not want the Hilton in the Carribbean.

Stayed here at this hotel the beginning of November for 8 days, it was my first time there and the reviews weren't bad either. The lady at the front desk whose name was Shantae was very nice and helpful she had everything prepared for my arrival and greeted me by name! ( I thought that was very cool - I think my accent gave me away!) It was very slow at the hotel at the time so it felt like I was the only one there, but I loved that! I had a room on the second floor and it was big and spacious with a balcony that overlooked the pool, which was very nice and clean to swim in. The bedroom area and bathroom were separate from the front part which allowed for some privacy! There was always hot water and the A/C was nice and cool!! (its only in the bedroom though). There is a TV, fridge, microwave, stove, coffeemaker and tons of dishes and cutlery so if you are going to be there a whiles its good to go to the store and get some groceries and cooked which I did a few nights! There is a small restaurant in the lobby area, the lone worker there was very nice and sociable; I had lunch there once, but the food was not all that good to me. There was daily maid service also.
The hotel is right in St. Lawrence Gap/Dover area with the beach across the street, a food store and lots of restaurants and night life. There is a 24 hour bar across the street called Scotty's that can play music late into the night that you can hear from your room. Its not far from town or the bus stop. I love the place!, good location, great service from the staff, comfortable amenities. I would definitely be staying here going forward whenever I am in Barbados.

Monteray describes itself as "modern". It was true in the 60', but, even if it was not upgraded since, it is very well kept and staff is very friendly. Very comfortable appartment (especially the beds), with kitchen amenities, wonderfully located in St-Lawrence Gap, but still tranquil. You really are in the heart of fun, but still hear no noise when you wish for calm! Dover Beach is the nicest of the island, and we went around many of them! Staying there, you don't even need to rent a car; they event take you to Bridgetown and back for free!
We enjoyed tremendously our stay and would certainly think about going back there is we retourn to Barbados (there are so many places to see around the world!).

It used to be excellent, but changed owners and the quality and reliabilityof reservatons went down hill. The only good things left are the two cleaning ladies Barbara and Esther. My wife and I stayed there 6 times and on last visit we had to call tourism board into the situation get things right, and ended up staying at their other unit the Merribelle.

The Hotel is within the St Lawrence Gap area and situated a short three minute stroll to the beach.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a shower/toilet, a separate sink and mirror area and plenty of hanging/clothes storage space.
The kitchenette is really good with a fridge/freezer; microwave and plenty of utensils and crockery to eat with.
The pool suits both swimmers and non-swimmers, I really enjoyed my swims each day.
It might be an older hotel, but having stayed at plenty of hotels in Barbados I really enjoyed my stay at Monteray Apartment Hotel.
I would certainly highly recommend this hotel to all my family, friends and travel buddies.

Did not book this hotel initially, however we were moved to the Monteray after Pirate's Inn had overbooked. This was obviously not the start we wanted to our holiday as this particular hotel was not in the area we'd initially booked to stay in and was only a 2* rather than a 3*. Obviously none of this was the fault of the Monteray, but such circumstances caused our expectations to be low.
We arrived late and were checked in by the security guard, after a bit of confusion as to whether our friends had a reservation or not, we were shown to our rooms. Apartments are large, with adequate kitchen facilities (could do with a bit of an upgrade to kettle/toaster) and clean shower facilities. Cleanliness is where we found the Monteray to be particularly impressive, bedding/towels are changed every day and all maids we encountered were friendly and always happy to help.
As there are only ~20 apartments, the pool area feels as if you are staying in a villa at times with most (if not all) sunbeds available and very little noise. The gardens are really well maintained which again adds to the clean/relaxed feel of the place.
The location is perfect for the Gap, all bars and restaurants are just a 10 minute walk away. As well as this, the beach is a 2 minute walk across the road, with numerous beaches to choose from depending on how far you want to go.There is also a small hut to book activities/boat trips just outside the main entrance. I'd also recommend getting a Bajan breakfast one morning from the Jamaican restaurant attached to the reception.
All in all, I would not hesitate to stay here again. The apartments were perfect for our needs, and the friendly staff were always happy to assist when it came to arranging taxis etc. Despite us initially being disappointed at being moved, we had a great holiday and were even glad in the end as we felt this hotel was closer to everything we wanted from our stay in Barbados.

Hello Chantal Elle,
Yes, the beds can be joined to make a king sized bed if requested.
Yes I believe so - they all have balconies
No we could only hear when they decided to move furniture. Or should I say drag it, instead of lifting.
