For our first time in Barbados we were looking for a reasonably priced hotel, with kitchenette facilities and not far from a beach. We weren’t let down by Golden Sands. While you’ll immediately notice that the decor is dated and do with a facelift, we noticed that everything worked and the room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant produced delicious food that had us back for more.

Excellent service. Food was delicious. Staff pleasant and professional. Room well fitted with amenities needed. Refrigerator and stove in case you wanted to do your own stuff. Near supermarket. Excellent.

I came here for one night, I emailed the receptionist and ask them to confirm receipt of the email and got no response. I went down the front desk and the receptionist greeted me like I was bothering her. I told her about the email I sent and before I could finish, the phone rang. All she did was put up her finger and answer the phone. After I told her, again, what I came there for she told me, yes she got it (again, like I was bothering her). I told her that I asked for confirmation of receipt of the email and she looked at me I was really getting on her nerves. I am a paying customer! You ought to treat everyone with respect. On another note, some of the tiles in the room were loose, the water in the sinks in both the kitchenette and bathroom were taking long to drain; the sink in the bathroom was leaking and the toilet was not flushing properly. Lastly, the window in the bathroom was not closed properly (I also tried to close it but it wouldnt budge) so bugs came in at night and I had to keep the bathroom door closed. There is one more issue regarding the restaurant but I will leave that out. I would not come here again even if I won a free stay. It is definitely NOT worth the money.

We choose the Golden Sands Hotel to spend our quarantine which lasted five days. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony with the view of the pool and beautiful garden where we spotted monkeys and cute birds. Having the vast space, tv, kitchen and balcony ensured we could enjoy our time even if we were "stuck inside". The restaurant delivers food to your room which was really tasty, we also managed to dine in the restaurant when "freed" on Christmas day and, not only the food was delicious, but it was a lovely atmosphere with many local families celebrating here. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, house keeping provided all we needed daily and the caretaker was so nice to speak too from the balcony! Most importantly Mechelle the manager took very good care of us, buying some essentials we needed from supermarket and pharmacy, and helping us chase test results which were delayed. Once we got the test results we could also use the pool which was great and there's a beautiful beach right opposite. Oistins fish fry is walking distance as well as the beautiful Miami beach. You can also reach other areas of the island taking the local busses that stop right opposite the hotel.

Most Barbadians associate Golden sands for its lively Rum and Souse and Karaoke on Saturdays. As for me I usually would order pudding and souse and go collect it. However given a birthday gift as a staycation although it would not have been top of mind, I was very happy at the choice. We had the ocean view on second floor, the studio room was very spacious, tastefully decorated and very clean. The staff I interacted with were helpful and a pleasure to communicate with. It was a great bajan experience with real soul food at very good prices!! I highly recommend those coming to Barbados for "We Gathering" in october (christ chuch month) should consider booking this hotel , . Totally ideal for family planned events

My husband and i stayed for 10 nights and absolutely loved it. Very peaceful and quiet. Rooms are huge. Clean towels every day and bedding changed loads of times. The staff are absolutely brilliant, very polite and helpful, especially Mellissa, Andrew and Brenda. The beach is across the road and the local fish market/fry are 10 minute walk. We fished from the jetty at the fish market and had a great time catching fish. We had the pool to ourselves most days which was perfect for us.

Excellent hotel. Clean spacious room everything I could possibly need for my stay on self catering holiday. Small family run hotel over looking beach. Lovely and quiet had the pool to myself for last couple of days. Pleasure that it is not over run with tourists. Mainly locals stay here. Will definitely be returning.

We stayed for 4 nights in March. Studio room was very spacious and clean. View of the sea from the balcony. Bathroom needed an update, but it was fine for the time we were there. No one in the pool, it was like we had our own private pool. The beach is directly across the road so no problem with access. The restaurant in the back served good food for a reasonable price. Saturday is the day the locals partake in karaoke at the restaurant. There were some very talented singers and it was a very entertaining evening.

We enjoyed three nights in golden sands. Staff were very friendly and helpful letting us check in early and out late for no extra charge and lending us beach towels the last day. The room was very clean and serviced daily. I asked for a room on top floor away from road as other reviews suggested this and glad I did-we had great room, number 306 and had fab view of sea. No lift though so if steps are a struggle don’t go to top floor. The room itself was huge. And they put extra bed in for my daughter which was great. The hotel is in desperate need of updating but it’s clean, quiet and has a bus stop and beach right outside. The road was a little noisy on the balcony but not once you shut door at night you could not hear a thing. The fountain by the pool needed a clear out. The pool was great and my daughter loved it! Happy hour was good too 🤪 would def stay here again for good price. 👍

Wonderful hotel with immaculate rooms. Very clean and has the best staff - all genuinely pleasant. Manager Mechelle is exceptional. Food is delicious and the local cuisine of pudding and souse on Saturdays is to die for. It's walking distance from Oistins where there's the best fish dinners on Friday nights along with local entertainment.
