We had 1 night stay over the weekend and were first greeted by the owners teenage daughter?? I never met a manager or anyone else. This young girl was lovely, she quickly showed us our room and where the toilet was then she was gone! I think there was one other group of people staying there that night and I... More

There's a fire station next door, so at 3 am we were woken up from a fire alarm going off... Wifi is very limited (doesn't work in bedroom at all). This place could use a good and thorough cleaning, there were spiders everywhere.

Our 1 night stay was almost 1 night too much. The pictures taken are historic and admittedly it was January when it's out of season, but the place was only inhabited by the residents and the 3 of us. Even though we were upgraded and the manager was more than helpful, the entire place needs a major overall and upgrade.... More

Mokena Hotel has a grand, old school, charm, it's like stepping back in time to a New Zealand you can sometimes think has disappeared. It was a lovely place with lovely staff who went out of their way to help. If your keen on a journey into the past then this is the place for you. I'll definitely return.

We had an enjoyable stay and found the accomodation was good value. We stayed in the Queen room which had a large spa bath and a shower. The hosts were very accomodating when our travel plans were altered the following morning.

We arrived here on a wet cold night. We had planned a session at the hot pools and then decided to stay on as the weather was so bad. The new owner of Mokena was friendly, kind and helpful. The restaurant is shut now and rennovations are planned. We found the place fine for the price. Nice touch offering you... More

We booked this hotel for a 1 night stay for the 1st Jan 2014. The friendly welcome we received upon arrival was lovely. Nothing too much trouble and they offered us the Aroha room, a larger room than we had booked for the same price. The rooms are nicely furnished, themed and kept in the heritage manner of the hotel's... More

We stayed at the Mokena on 2 Oct 2013. The receiption we received was great. The ladies were lovely. The reception and common areas needs some work, but the bedrooms were lovely, the bed most comfortable. The shower rooms were fantastic. Love the different levels and atmosphore of the hotel and the whole town. Fabulous deck for drinks and laughter.

We stayed here for two nights 19 and 20th July. We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The managers were amazing nothing was to much trouble for them. Breakfast was waiting for us when we got up, great selection of choice even having nutella for our two girls which was a nice touch. Extremely profession and helpful. Our girls wanted to... More

“There in Te Aroha are only two pubs you can eat during public holiday. These two hotels are serving dinners in shifts. During low seas onme day is open for meals Palacwe Hotel where we were, ond opn the other day is the other. Food excellent. Town? Is a very small , sleepy toen with prhaps some future.Thias was established as a SPA way before Rotorua and it does not stinks. Mineral waters simply fantastic (walking distance). You have to book in advanc these private, huge, wooden tubs for you naked enjoyment. Buzzer will notify you about you time so there is no pressure to watch the watch.”
