Booked this place after reading reviews and there were quite a few negatives. But I always book Greek places where the only bad reviews are from people who clearly aren’t used to the Greek self catering style and this place didn’t disappoint.

On arrival at silly o’clock Paul the boss checked us in and set out his rules which took about 15 minutes. It’s his place he’s had a few bad experiences and clearly wanted to set his stall out. It’s not what you want after you’ve been travelling for hours but we agreed to be model residents and he happily served us we us beers and bottled water even though it was daft o’clock we had a bit of a laugh and went off to our room.

The room was large well equipped and the beds were really comfy! Nice big balcony plenty of chairs.
Pool is huge, plenty of beds some days busier than others but always lots of spare beds if needed. At least 50% of guests were repeaters and all were really friendly nice vibe about the place.

During the day there’s a decent sized food menu and Diane and Maisie are absolutely fabulous they work really hard to make you happy! Food is cracking. In the evening Paul takes over and he’s really a great guy full of stories about his time living in the states and good to have a giggle with not difficult to see why so many return year after year.

Some of the reviews are comical I mean really! You can only eat around the pool what you have purchased from the bar - absolutely standard for any place! You get a couple of loo rolls then top up at the shop yourself. It is literally 100 feet away 🙄 and 90cents. The bar categorically does not stink of stale fat. The apartments are cleaned once a week and I mean CLEANED, Linda leaves not a spec of dust! it is more than sufficient. The lighting on way down when arriving at night is limited but it’s a few steps in dim light you’re not tracking the Sahara for a couple of miles without a camel to carry your stuff.

Overall this is very good self catering accomodation run by the loveliest group of people you could hope to meet. If we stayed again we’d ask to be further away from the bar as the music is on all day and I missed listening to the cicadas on the balcony. This would have been the only change I would have made and to be honest I think most people would prefer the music 😂

IWouldWouldWoul. The site of the colesium Apts is ideal, price for 3 nights was good, but when we arrived Diane told us the rules etc and we had to fill in a track and trace form! Got given our 1 key and told NOT to leave key in room as only the housekeeper has spare key and she probably won't be happy! There is a magnetic key fob u put in holder when walk into room for electric. We asked about air con, owner, a loud American told my OH it is 15€ a night, when OH questioned why so much he came out with a load of excuses!!
The room was very spacious, large twin beds, sheets were see thru prob been washed that many times. XL wardrobe plenty of coat hangers, and a large dresser. Sofa bed in there too. Large terrace with table and 2 chairs. Bathroom was good size.
Swimming pool is a good size but deep, kids pool next to it, and Jacuzzi next to it, never saw it working so can't comment. Plenty of beds around pool, we'd get to pool and a lot of the beds had towels on!! Plus plenty of signs for you to read of what you can and can't do in pool area. Says there's a pool bar?? Behind the signs is the bar and kitchen,..
We went for cooked breakfast once, it was vile! The beans where abs disgusting! Woman on next table had Nutella and pancakes, loads of Nutella but 6 TINY pancakes, wouldnt of filled my 3 year old!
Later on in the afternoon we bought 2 drinks, I had a vodka cocktail and OH had Bacardi and coke, 1st time I've seen them use a measure for spirits... And charged 16€.
Would we stay there again, maybe just for the pool!

Our third annual visit to Pefkos, first time at Coliseum with mixed thoughts…
It’s definitely a 2* which isn’t a problem if you don’t overpay which we didn’t.
By booking separately for three adults, four nights b&b, we paid £330 accommodation, £400 flights, £130 transfer = £860 … the right price. Current Jet2 package price for September £1500, far too much to pay and not good value!
When checking in were were told we probably wouldn’t see a cleaner during our stay, and they were right, a first for us, so we had no bed making, no change of towels and we had to empty our own bins and buy our loo rolls …
Room was basic but clean on arrival, no proper lock on balcony door and shower heads (x2) were blocked with limescale and barely worked, but we managed!
** Make sure you’re not overcharged for aircon (€15) as we were … owner sorted it out on the last day **
Cooked breakfast adequate but sausage had a strange aftertaste (each day) and only two small margarine sachets for four slices of 🍞
Lovely large pool with plenty of beds but quite frustrating that owner actively encourages non-residents to use pool (profit from drink sales) with signs at both entry points to accommodation so some days busy, others quiet.
Only problem with this is you never know who’s laid next to you or watching you particularly if you have kids.
Clearly this is always an issue but at least ‘only’ residents have to show passports etc. when booking and staying at hotel accommodation so some peace of mind 🫤
Location of accommodation was perfect for us close to the subdued nightlife of Pefkos!
Be sure to email prior to arrival if you’re going to be late as reception is not 24/7, they will let you know what room number you’re in and your key will be waiting for you in the door of your room!
To summarise we will return here if the price is right .. 🌞 💰 🍻

Arrived at the coliseum at 2.10am to be greeted by the rude owner in a scruffy pool area smelling of stale fat, whereby, subjected to a 20 min lecture on the do,s and don’t,s which included a covid disclaimer to be signed before handed the keys. Was also informed the room would only been cleaned once a week and if the bathroom bin became full up which has dirty toilet paper in due to not being able to flush, we could wait for cleaning day or empty ourselves in any of the bins around the resort! We also discovered only 1 towel allocated each and when requested extra, was told it was self catering and not a hotel, we replied we have been doing self catering in Greece for 20 years and this was the first time we had only been allocated 1 towel, which was only changed once, half way through our week. This comment fell on death ears in which case I decided to walk away and leave the rude little man to himself. Anybody unfortunate enough to go to these apartments, will need to take toilet rolls, towels and a torch as access to the apartments are very dark due to lightbulbs not being replaced. Word of warning, the pool is too deep for children and the baby pool is more like a dirty bath, the jacuzzi doesn’t work between 1~6 as advertised, apparently 1~3 however we didn’t hang around to find out and The steps in the pool are unsafe and not attached to the wall. The air con is 1 of the dearest on the island which was also leaking. We spent our holiday and our money a couple of doors down at Vangelis pool bar where we were made very welcome with amazing food and hospitality. If you win a holiday to the coliseum in a raffle, I suggest you give it to someone else! AVOID!!!!!!!

Where do I start we arrived at the coliseum at about 2am after a long flight with our 9 year old daughter the place was in darkness we had nobody there to greet us to tell us where we were going we walk around the hotel for a good 45 mins before walking to the pub just on the main road out side the hotel we were told the key would be in our door we did speak to our rep at the airport (thankgod) she did give us a door number and that was all. We entered our room it was a room for 3 me my husband and my daughter the bedding was dirty the blankets had better days and definitely hadnt seen the washing machine for a good while and we had 1 set of towels. The pool was great only thing I can say is the last step isn't painted in different colour like the rest so stumped our toe and fell into the pool serval times. Couple of days into the hotel I asked at the pool bar for another toilet roll which I would replace when I go to the shop to which I got told its not a hotel its up to us to get more supplies. So i did and also got more water and drinks for the next couple of days. We walked down the the pool with our drinks to which we were told by a very rude manager that was wasnt aloud to use our own drinks round the pool we HAD to buy from the pool bar for tax reasons (yeah ok ) There was 14 of us on the holiday and they all came to our pool as it was a meeting point bringing trade to the hotel. While the fire in Greece was happening (which where extremely close to our hotel) the manager of the hotel (paul) left us all in bed when we were supposed to be evacuated. The hotels all around us were put on buses and taken away to safety this isn't exceptable at all not only did this cause us stress on our holiday but the panick that it causes for my 9 year old was uncalled for. We paid 200 euro for air conditioning that didn't work the first 2 nights we slept on the balcony and got bites ALOT, when it did work it did nothing for us due to the bed was around the corner away from the air con we actually had to move the bed into the kitchen so we could sleep. Half way through the holiday we asked about the towels and asked if we could have clean one to be told by a very rude older lady behind the pool bar that towels get changed twice thats it its not a hotel!! The smell in the room was horrible we found the source was a bubbling hole in the bathroom it looked like other people's waste was in our bathroom we couldn't be bare footed on the bathroom floor due to this. If anyone is looking at at staying at this hotel not only will u be confronted by a very rude man which which has issues he will also put you and your family at risk if there is any more fires, we rusfused to pay the late fee ans give this man any more of our money and booked into the hotel chysanthum next door what a lovely man and family couldn't do more for us when we visit Greece again we will be staying in the chysanthum!!! Would rather give our money to a lovely family than a rude man that talks to his staff like there somethink on his shoe!!!!

We had high hopes as we had stayed her previously, although before Covid, so we were pleased to see that some money had been spent generally improving the site. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom adequate & we had all we needed in the kitchen area which for us is just a kettle & fridge. It all went south when we were told that we would see housekeeping 3 or 4 times during or two week stay. Given the mid 30 degree heat & over 50% humidity this was nowhere near enough for bedding. I appreciate towels only come into contact with clean bodies so I have no issue with them lasting a bit longer but what wasn't done, & quite frankly I found it disgusting, was emptying the bins including the awful bathroom bin. We actually saw housekeeping TWICE! She worked like a demon so I have only praise for her but complete horror that the owner can think that it's acceptable to leave us 6 days collecting paper in the bathroom. It would appear that profit is king. We will vote with our feet & will NEVER stay there again.

Just returned from a week here, myself my wife and our 17 year old son. We arrived at around 2:30 in the morning, and were initially a little lost. For info the apartments are down the slope next to Karma Bar and restaurant. It was dark, but we found the bar area where Paul was there to greet us. Yes, we did get a 15 min do/don’t lecture. A little unnecessary I think, if we were a gang of lads/girls just arrived in Falaraki then I get it. Paul did come across as a little abrupt, but it was 2:30 in the morning I guess. We did get opportunity to speak to Paul over the following week a few times, and to be honest he is a genuinely nice guy, always happy to have a chat and a laugh. The pool was clean, and had a nice atmosphere in the day, and not too busy. There were people that brought their own food and drink to the pool, and were asked to refrain from doing so. Absolutely agree, if you are using the facilities, then the least you can do is spend some money with the bar, they are not a charity. We had a two bed apartment with a fantastic wrap around balcony, will an amazing view. Yes, a little tired, with the usual Greek shower/toilet issues. It was clean, and bug free. You get initial toilet roll, but then have to replenish yourself, .90c from the shop, not the end of the world. Our towels were changed and the apartment cleaned half way through the week. We have been doing Greek self catering for 30 years, and this is about the usual standard. If you don’t like Greek accommodation, then maybe Spain is for you. Huge fridge freezer, air con was good. Late check out until 18:00 was available at 30 Euros. All in all given why we paid, no complaints. Yes, we would return.

This was our 2nd stay so already knew it was basic so I’ll begin with the positives.
Location is bang on, very central. The pool is lovely, plenty of beds. We stayed in a studio, very spacious, lots of wardrobe space and loads of coat hangers! Nice balcony but being on the ground floor we were bothered by the cats.
Now the negative.
Uncomfortable beds, and the cleaner only came once to change the towels and bedding. The food at the pool bar isn’t great and the drinks prices aren’t cheap. After paying during check in for the air con, room tax and safe, on day 5 the air con was switched off. When we went to sort it the owner was very stroppy with us, saying we hadn’t paid! We assured him we had, quoting exactly how much we paid. The next morning we went to have a word with Diane who checked us in and she also insisted we hadn’t payed, saying she hadn’t written it in the book so we can’t have, i even went over the conversation we had when she said we probably wouldn’t need it, but she wouldn’t have it, saying she couldn’t imagine why she wouldn’t put it in the book? We were maid to feel like liars but we stood our ground. In future I suggest they start giving out receipts like most places do! It certainly soured our holiday

We stayed for three weeks and found the accommodation was as described with a superb pool and great location. The hotel is built on a generous plot with gardens, parking and a large pool with an adjacent kids pool. Our room and balcony was a good size and clean. The owner Paul, and his team were extremely friendly and helpful assisting in every request for help/information. We have no hesitation in recommending the Coliseum.

As always return to the coliseum. Dianne and Paul the most fantastic people you could ever meet. Food is delicious and nothing is ever a problem for them. The pool has definitely got to be the best in Pefkos. Set back from the road of Pefkos so you can chill out in peace or walk 2 minutes to the main road where you find restaurants and bars. A million percent reccomended. I’m a frequent review of hotels and this by far is the best in Pefkos. Rhodes Greece

If you mean swearing around the pool using the F word in front of my 6 and 7 and 9 year old grandchildren just because they had a bag of crisps that we did not buy from him nice and helpful I would say Not what a rude and arrogant American man he was, I was disgusted and the only reason he didn't end up in the pool was that he would have chucked us out of his apartments
