We stayed just one night (far too short!) at this truly excellent B&B. Everything was absolutely perfect; Heather welcomed us on arrival with tea and cake, and our room with its en-suite shower room was spotless, well designed and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The jug of fresh milk for our morning tea was particularly appreciated - no... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hollowell for two nights at the beginning of June because we had a wedding nearby, and we had a really wonderful time. Heather and Barry went far above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome and help us out. The house and gardens are stunning, on arrival Heather bought us... More

Stayed 2 nights in this lovely cottage. Very comfortable, warm with everything we could wish for in the room and bathroom. Heather was so welcoming and made us tea and cake when we arrived, breakfast first class with local fresh produce and as much as we wanted. Nice area , lots to do, will return soon.

Stunning little bnb, we only stayed 1 night but would happily have stayed longer. Heather our host was so lovely and welcoming and full of suggestions for trips and meals etc. Sumptuous breakfast set us up for the day, including catering for vegetarian needs. We even got a pot if tea and freshly made cake on arrival! It was wet... More

We returned, once more, to this wonderful B & B, for a 3 day stay. The proprietor, Heather, makes you, instantly, feel at home. Our room(no.1) was exceptionally clean and that bed is so comfortable I have the best nights sleep for a long while. Breakfast sets you up for the day, all freshly prepared and cooked. This cottage deserves a... More

This is a fabulous place to stay. Heather is an exemplary host, very friendly and helpful. We had tea and cake in the garden on arrival and felt very welcome. The cottage is in a lovely setting and extremely clean and well- appointed. The breakfasts were excellent. If I didn't live so far away I'd be a regular visitor -... More

We have just returned home after 3 comfortable nights stay at Hollowell Cottage. We had such a warm welcome From Heather and Barry the owners right away we knew we had made a good choice for our stay in Somerset. The place itself is beautiful, and they have very good taste in decoration and furniture. The room was very comfortable,... More

Everything perfect, we had two excellent nights spent in beautiful countryside, in a lovely typically English cosy but spacious country cottage. Heather and Barry were the perfect hosts, and so helpful in all respects! And of course the breakfast! Whether you want cooked or just cereal & fruit juice, you choose! Or eat it all! I would definitely return if I... More

We chose to stay here because of the fantastic reviews that it had received. The cottage is lovely. It is situated on the edge of a small village at the side of a country lane. It has a beautiful garden where you can sit out. Once inside the house you feel that time and love have been spent on restoring... More

Being a sceptic of review sites, I don't normally bother with positive reviews if a place delivers what it promises to deliver. However, Hollowell's owners could use the attention, being not long established and we certainly did enjoy our stay. Everything very clean, good breakfasts, and extremely friendly management. Plus we had considerate neighbors: the other three guests were as... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hollowell Cottage B&B is our 300 year old detached cottage built of local ham stone under a thatched roof. It sits in its own gardens on the edge of the charming Somerset village of West Chinnock, just a few minutes walk to the Cat Head Inn, a must for all "foodies". The commercial centre of Yeovil is 15 mins drive away and has a good range of shops and department stores. The market town of Crewkerne is close by and has mainline rail links to London and beyond. Whether you are in the area on business or taking a few days break we think you will enjoy your time at Hollowell Cottage. We provide comfortable, spacious rooms with private or en-suite facilities together with colour TV, DVD and Wi-Fi with spectacular panoramic views from every window. Our breakfasts are made using locally sourced, free range and organic products wherever possible. Cooked fresh to order they are served in our breakfast room with views over the garden and surrounding countryside. We think we have created a very special place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hollowell is a place where you can relax and recharge your batteries in the comfort of your very own "room with a view." We are blessed with wonderful countryside to walk or cycle in and the country park at Ham Hill is only two miles away and provides fabulous walking or mountain biking. The Prince of Wales pub on Ham Hill itself or the Lord Nelson in Norton Sub Hamdon at the bottom of the hill, are ideally placed to offer you lunch. If you are touring or working in the area why not make Hollowell your base? We offer special rates for two nights stay or longer. We have great facilities for washing, drying and storing your biking and walking equipment. ... more   less
