Koala Hotel captivates guests with its inviting atmosphere, including a light and airy reception and newly refurbished rooms with balconies. While the rooms are praised for their cleanliness, travelers note they can feel a bit snug. Budget-conscious guests appreciate the hotel's value, yet some express concerns about extra charges for amenities such as air conditioning. Remember this is a two star hotel, so it's not corporate brand new, things are a little tired, but everything important is bang on and the staff are absolutely lovely.
So rooms - quite small, but with TV (no UK chanels) take a firestick, fridge, hair dryer, aircon and ensuite, they have everything you need, no kettle tho.
Beds are comfy, everything is clean and tidy, and kept so by daily housekeeping.
I only have one minor complaint, the shower curtain is very unusual - it hooks on swinging arms to encompass the two open sides and you get extreme cling, which means a lot of water on the floor if you're not careful. The public areas of the hotel including the pool and sunbeds, bar and lounge, outside terrace are all very nice and modern and clean. The breakfast buffet is basic continental, everything was nice and fresh and kept topped up, but if you like a substantial breakfast you might wanna eat out.
Let's get to the staff, this is a family run hotel and all the staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful, always happy to book us a taxi and help with anything.
Finally location - I was very happy to be near the marina rather than the very busy and lively harbour, it's a 15min walk or so to the harbour and Kos town, or a 7 euro taxi ride, it's a nice walk along the seafront with restaurants and supermarkets to keep you supplied.

One of the best value for money hotels I have ever stayed! Pay a 2 star Hotel for a 5 star experience. The hotel is family owned and they went out of their way to show us a good time. They were so friendly and accommodating to everything we asked. I have been to 4 star and 5 star hotels and never felt so looked after. There is daily cleaning service, the hotel is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed. They make the rooms daily and they are fresh towels in different fun shapes on the bed every single day. The breakfast has great variety and the home made cake of Chrisanthi is simply delicious! Everyday there is something different on the breakfast menu and the quality is great for a 2 star hotel. The pool is medium size and ideal for a relaxing time. The pool menu and snacks are delicious. Dimitris makes an awesome burger so fresh and delicious it competes the best restaurants of Kos town. The Choriatiki salad is big with fresh local vegetables and so filling. All the other snacks in the menu are yummy too! If you don’t want to eat out you can have great food and drinks at the hotel at a low price and make your summer life so much easier. The bed was comfy and the veranda is cool for a relaxing time. The location of the hotel is the ideal as you are close to the sea and the exciting Kos town. We had such a great time we will come back next year for sure. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay at this fantastic hotel and experience the true meaning of Greek hospitality! Thank you Dimitris, Helen, Chrisanthi, Stamatis and Dinos for the unforgettable times:)

We stayed here 7 nights and the place is lovely and the people that have this place are so nice, the location is fantastic so near to the main part of town but not too close so was quiet, it is so easy to find your way around from this location. There is a bus from the end of the road that takes you to Therma beach plus an easy to find meeting point if you have booked excursions such as Nisyros or Zia plus two small supermarkets. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and where met with a very easy and friendly check in, the hotel is clean and is fab for anyone working with a budget, I do not usually use extra communal areas such as pools or the roof top area as we generally enjoy exploring but we did here as this is a small hotel the areas where not to busy so you could relax after a tiring day in the sun. We were so happy that the hotel managed to arrange a late check out for us, I felt the list of extras (such as late check outs etc) you could possibly have in the room information was fabulous, with a later check out we where able to make the most of our last day and rest prior to our late flight, the front terrace is a wonderful spot for lounging, I would not hesitate to stay here again, other guests from varying countries all seemed as happy and relaxed as ourselves. I am so glad I stayed here on my first visit to Greece, thank you so much to the Koala team you are fabulous.

Budget holidays with a perfect location
It is a 2* hotel so the rooms and breakfast in terms of products' quality are just 2*, only scrambled eggs inedible, the rest just ok, instant coffee from a machine, water with sweet concentrated juice, cheese, ham like deli, veg and some cakes, musli . So it is cheap overall and you cannot complain but don' t expect too much. The location is great, within minutes to the town centre and harbour, the staff very friendly and helpful. There's a small pool with 10 beds, a small bar that serves snacks and drinks, car/atv/ bike rental place nearby, a supermarket 50m away.

I could write a book about this place but I won’t and instead I’ll just sum it up for you.

It’s a mid sized family owned and run hotel, the owners and the staff are fantastic and very friendly and go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay.

The breakfast is Mediterranean buffet and very tasty and adequate. It’s also lovely sitting out the front of the hotel early morning but watch out for Meow Meow the temperamental neighbourhood cat that will be visiting and do not attempt to touch this cat without offering food to it first.

Rooms have aircon but you need to pay a daily rate for it, usually, and you will need aircon as it stays warm at night and if you try sleep with windows open the mosquitoes will get you.

Our room was adequate in size for two adults with a nice balcony to relax on in the evenings. The bathroom was a bit too small and dated but one of the owners informed me it was being upgraded soon. Did us alright though for the price.

The hotel is well situated and about 2 minutes walk to the beachfront promenade where you can hop onto a electric scooter and nip into old town or there is also a rentals company nearby for the usual scooters and bikes or even quad bikes.

Loveliest hotel we’ve stayed at all our times in Kos.

Wow! I don't even know where to start. This hotel is a small family run hotel about 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel rooms might be a bit on the small side but with so much to see and do on the island you're only in there to sleep so it wasn't a problem. The rooms are equipped with A.C and a small fridge but no kettle, a hairdryer, hand soap and shower gel are a nice addition to the bathroom. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and towels are changed every other day. Breakfast is served between 7.30am - 9.30am and consists of a hot buffet, cold meats and cheeses, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee and juice. there is a indoor eating area and also a wrap around outside terraced area. There is a beautiful lobby area to sit and relax with a large bookcase if you should choose to read. The bar area is situated to the back of the lobby over looking the pool and sun terrace. The bar serves hot drinks, cold drinks, alcoholic drinks, bar snacks and even ice cream. But for me it was the amazing staff Demitris the manager, Chrisantha his sister (front of house) and last but not least Dinos who worked evenings and did just about everything always with a smile on his face. But what an amazing friendly, warm hearted gentleman he is. We sat with him most evenings having a night cap and chatting, laughing and joking. He even recommended somewhere for us to eat and went so far as to book the table for us and tell the staff to look after us...and they did. He also advised/helped us to navigate (with ease) public transport to and from Asklepion I had such a fantastic time not only at the hotel but also in Kos I cant wait to go back. I fell in love with the island but more importantly the staff at this hotel they are just so lovely and very accommodating that anything you need or ask is never too much. They made me feel like one of the family and it was so lovely to meet moma on the last day and chat with her. This has to be the best hotel I have ever stayed at and one I would really recommend. I would just like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for making my first trip to Kos just so enjoyable and memorable.
Well done to you all and I hope to see you all again soon room 210 7.6.24

Really lovely hosts that would go out of their way to accommodate your needs as they really try their best to please every single one of their customers. The breakfast offers a good variety of fresh fruit, deli meats, bread, yoghurt and cereals. At breakfast, you may be tempted to pet a moody cat who might turn on you at any moment if you rub her the wrong way. Very cute cat, but watch out for her claws.

The only complaint I have is not for the hotel owners but is about other guests. The behaviour of other guests can be ranged from simply rude to obnoxious. Certain guests don't seem to understand how loud their speaking voices and laughter can be especially in the middle of the night. Seriously, the floor is covered with ceramic floors which means we can hear your obnoxious voice very well while it reverberated through the door and walls. So have some curtesy and consideration for others because not everyone wants to hear a sound from you while they try to catch some zzz...

Just back from a lovely 10 day stay at the Koala hotel
We had room 104 which was on the first floor, with a balcony view of the frontage road. The road is a quite road away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of Kos - it’s only a 15 min walk to the harbour which is walkable along the seafront passing lots of shops / restaurants or a 7 euro taxi ride away

The hotel is family run, and ALL the staff are brilliant, so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is varied and caters for all, plus it’s lovely to have the option of sitting inside or outside

The pool is small but lovely, and you even have the added bonus of a roof top terrace - the quickest and best way to get / top up a tan!

There are a couple of supermarkets, out of the hotel and turn right

** ALSO if you turn right out of the hotel and walk down literally 50 yards on the same side of the hotel is the most gorgeous / friendly cat ever!, I think he’s homeless ☹️ and is often sheltering under cars - we fed this cat for our whole stay often buying cat biscuits, or a bit of ham or turkey slices from the breakfast menu. Cat picture attached ** can’t beat a holiday Cat whilst away

A great hotel, and will definitely be going back again next year

Nice clean friendly hotel. Staff very nice and helpful. Greek style buffet breakfast with rolls, meats, cheese, fruit, cereal and cakes. Room was very nice (superior twin) although the balcony was very small, others were slightly bigger, air conditioning is extra and we paid for a late check out. Good 20 mins to 30 mins walk to beach. Main harbour front with shops and restaurants is half an hour but we hired bikes from the end of the road for a week for 5 euros a day and the cycle paths are great along the front,

Reviews are true for this hotel it's a little gem and hiring a bike makes the main hub of town only a few minutes away.

Hi, we had room 403, which was quite small, but out the front of the hotel, so you get the sun in the evening, which is nice, when your have a glass of wine before you go out. The room was ok, it’s a two star hotel, our room could have done with some tlc, but it was clean and enough for us, only use it for a shower and to sleep. I would return to the hotel, if I was looking for a cheap getaway. The staff are amazing and Dino the guy at night is so lovely. Enjoy your holiday in Kos.
