Detailed Reviews
Lori and Gavin are excellent hosts. They know the area well and were able to help us with advice when planning our day and secure dinner reservations when our french failed us.
After a long drive, we were shown to our beautifully decorated room with a very comfortable bed and clean modern bathroom tucked behind traditional shutters. We were welcomed in the court yard garden with a glass of wine on our arrival. Classic continental breakfast with special touches like the selection of homemade jams.
We would highly recommend stopping in le Lude and specifically at 5 Grande Rue if in the area.

What a beautiful house! Beautifully decorated, comfortable and good sized bedroom and excellent bed. Lots of lovely little touches like fresh milk for morning coffee and tea, fresh water in the room and a warm welcome with a glass of wine! The breakfast was outstanding with homemade yoghurt, jams and banana bread, a big pot of fresh coffee plus melt in the mouth croissants. A delightful place to stay.

We stayed at 5 Grande Rue for almost a week in January 2020. Unlike many B&Bs where we've stayed before, the bedrooms in this one were quite roomy, plenty of room to spread out. The bed was comfortable, the bed linens were wonderulf (loved the duvet!) and the bathroom was well-equipped and roomy. The house itself was lovely. The owner prepared breakfast herself, homemade pear tart, banana bread, etc. We also had dinner there one night and it was lovely. The owner made us feel very welcome and had plenty of information about the surrounding countryside. I would recommend it to anyone.

We have just spent a fabulous few days here with friends. The house and rooms are beautiful with lots of wonderful Christmas decorations to make it feel wonderfully festive. A very warm welcome from Lori & Gavin, a fantastically comfortable bed, and great breakfast - I’d definitely recommend stopping here if you are in the area.

What a lovely place to stay! Lori greeted us warmly and showed us to our very spacious, beautifully appointed room. This traditional French house has been sympathetically restored and furnished and is a very relaxing place to stay.
Our bed was very comfortable (so important!) and there was a large walk-in shower. Lori had been kind enough to upgrade us to this room following a problem with my foot, and it was much appreciated.
The common areas in and outside the house are characterful with lots of brightly coloured cushions and interesting objects. There's a small heated pool with cosy seating areas around it, and I think a guest lounge too for cooler days.
There's a handy tea and coffee station shared by the guest rooms with teapots and trays, so you can enjoy your cuppa in the privacy of your room.
Private parking is provided, and the charming village of Le Lude is a few steps away with a choice of eateries, shops, etc
Breakfast is wonderful and includes, unusually for France, a choice of cooked eggs. Home-made breads and jams and fresh fruit make this a hearty start to the day.
We'll certainly return when we can!

Absolutely magnificent. Enough cannot be said about our wonderful stay in 5 Grande Rue. Where to start… the hosts are possibly the friendliest, most accommodating people you will ever meet. Lori & Gavin not only offered their advice on fantastic places to visit and dine at but were at our every beck and call. Breakfast was included in our 5 day stay, which was amazing and beautifully presented at a large communal table in the dining room. The pool was heated and open at our request, as I like to swim a little earlier and later than most! Their warm and approachable atmosphere made us feel right at home. The decor in room 1 is quaint and quirky, giving it real character and the bed is so comfortable it was difficult to get out of every morning! The entire house is spotless and well taken care of, the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable with a dressing table, large mirrors, large wardrobes, hairdryer, fan, WiFi and even the option of Netflix on the Television for those cosy nights in. We have already scheduled our next stay here for the following year. I cannot recommend Lori & Gavin highly enough, they made our short stay here in Le Lude even more magical with their friendly faces and warm hearts.

A wonderful place to spend a night on our return journey to London. Gavin and Lori are very warm and welcoming and relaxed. The house is beautiful and characterful. The beds are incredibly comfortable; the denseness that only comes from expensive gorgeous mattresses well that’s what they’re like. Lovely fresh bed linen. It’s all very clean, very spacious and comforting. Just what we needed. We had rooms 2 and 3 which were adjoining. Our children’s twin beds were also incredibly comfortable with crisp bed linen. The breakfast room was a slice of French life - colourful decor at a large beautifully laid table. Delicious. Gavin and Lori clearly work very hard to make this seem effortless. Bravo!

5 Grande Rue is a most beautifully restored and preserved townhouse stocked with period furnishings and military memorabilia belonging to the owners. The newly installed pool is the perfect temperature and the best place to relax after a day behind the wheel. Despite the age of the building, the rooms are luxurious and the bathrooms spacious, modern, and the plumbing works! Gavin and Lori are the most incredible hosts. They served us aperos at the pool (charged at cost), made a restaurant reservation for us and were always available with a smile to provide any assistance required. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked again on the return leg, when we were lucky enough to eat in and enjoyed a fabulous three course meal of gazpacho, slow-cooked pork and apple crumble. Huge breakfasts are provided, a volonte, including Lori's home-cooked banana bread. We shall definitely be back, thank you Gavin and Lori.

After a drive from Caen we were warmly welcomed by Lori and shown to our beautiful, spacious and clean adjoining rooms and knew as soon as we had walked in wished we were staying for longer.
Our children were straight in the pool and Gavin and Lori were the perfect hosts offering a cold beverage to enjoy after a day of travelling.
The breakfast was plentiful and the touches of home made jams and bread were delicious. The surrounding area looked lovely and a place we would like to come back to and explore more. Thankyou for such a lovely stay that we all enjoyed.

We stayed here visiting the 24h race at le Mans, the hosts were very nice and accomodated our unusual times very well. The pool is also very nice where we enjoyed our rest day. It is located in the town center so a car isn't needed to get there.
We will be looking to come back next year for sure.

Hello
Yes we are family friendly and have a room big enough to accept an extra bed and a travel cot.
We don't have seperate area fror the cot, but many families choose to put it in the large ensuite bathroom.
Kind regards
Simon Wachter
hi Barbara. I am a former guest, not the owner. My recollection is they don't have a ground floor bedroom. However, if you contact Simon directly, he will answer your question.
It is a lovely place to stay so I hope they can meet your needs.
Good luck
