Excellent location for travelling to the south of France from Calais. I even changed my return journey plans and overnighted here on my way back to the UK as well. I highly recommend room 2 , best nights sleep in a long while. 3 course dinner on out ward journey was excellent and breakfast equally so ( thanks for the cognac) Thank you Gavin and Lori for being the PERFICK hosts , looking forward to staying with you on my next trip. kind regards Lars
This a beautiful house in Le Lude, close by to the castle. It is centrally located with a lovely garden where you can relax with a drink, and there is parking (great!) in the courtyard. The house has gorgeous decoration throughout and our bed was truly comfortable. Breakfast was a feast - Lori's homemade yoghurt and Gavin's homemade jams and cakes, along with traditional French breakfast and a hint of British fayre. They are lovely hosts and I'd go back in a shot.
I stayed here as a stop over in July, and I enjoyed it so much I decided to stay for two nights on the way back. The house is absolutely gorgeous, and very French. Rooms are quite luxurious with excellent en suites. For me the big plus is that they a pet friendly and made my elderly Whippet very welcome, even though he liked to wander and get on their settee in their private quarters. Lori and Gavin couldn't have been more welcoming, glass of wine (or two) on arrival and an excellent breakfast. On my return journey I enjoyed an evening meal in the garden with other guests. Perfect. This will be my stop over in the future and when their plans for a pool come to fruition it will be a longer stop so that I can explore this lovely area. Thanks Gavin and Lori.
Lori and Gavin are excellent hosts. They know the area well and were able to help us with advice when planning our day and secure dinner reservations when our french failed us. After a long drive, we were shown to our beautifully decorated room with a very comfortable bed and clean modern bathroom tucked behind traditional shutters. We were welcomed in the court yard garden with a glass of wine on our arrival. Classic continental breakfast with special touches like the selection of homemade jams. We would highly recommend stopping in le Lude and specifically at 5 Grande Rue if in the area.
Two fantastic nights spent there. Lori and Gavin are great hosts. They really make you feel at home. Rooms are beautifully decorated and the place itself is a gem, very quiet and relaxing. Delicious breakfast with homemade jam! Highly recommended!
