We reserved this place via Booking.com, but when we arrived it turned that the description on Booking.com was very far from accurate (a capital crime in my book): many amenities were missing. Moreover, Saffron Nest is situated in a very different place than shown on Google Maps or on Booking.com maps (it is actually opposite the Habarana Inn, run by the same guys), and at least the villa that we booked turned out to be right at the main (i.e., extremely loud street). The rooms had a strong unpleasant smell. For all these reasons, we decided not to stay there but look for an alternative. It is a mystery how this place gets 9.5/10 on Booking.com...
La struttura non esiste ! Appena arrivati in Sri Lanka hanno staccato il telefono e non rispondono. È solo una fregatura . Siamo andati anche alla polizia locale per maggiori informazioni e anche loro non sapevano dove fosse .
They have two lovely cottages we booked both to stay two days during our recent visit with a group of relatives to Habrana/Minneriya. The Owners themselves look after the operation and ensures that you have a comfortable stay. The cottages are well equipped with all cutlery/crockery made available and tea/coffee making facilities too. Their latest addition is a tree house which is also something to tryout. "Karu" the friendly waiter looks into all your food needs and is very helpful. The negative remark of the place is that they should have paid more attention to housekeeping such as removing cobwebs and fixing some of the broken garden chairs. The other was non availability of generator backup power and if power fails during the night (and does happen in that part of the country and takes several hours for the power to be restored) it would be very uncomfortable without the AC and Fans.…
