Trevor and Linda were so kind, they picked me up from the train station and also gave me a ride to my train when I was leaving. Lovely location and my hosts were very helpful with maps and ideas for day trips. Hope to have an opportunity to visit the region again! Stunning place!
A beautiful view on mountains; well equipped kitchen; quite locality; friendly owners who picked us up at the railway station; about 25 minutes of walking to city center; WiFi works without any problems
Great location in quiet area away from downtown center. Living area/small kitchen separate from bedroom and bathroom. Beautiful pastoral/mountain views from our apartment. Easy 15 min. walk into town via pedestrian walkway along the river. Owners Trevor & Linda were so kind and helpful! A great spot!
My husband and I spent 4 nights here in early June 2019 on the top floor. We had a lovely balcony with a beautiful view of the countryside. The apartment is updated and comfortable. We had a bedroom, bathroom and a living area/kitchen area with table. The hosts were lovely and gave us loads of information about Bad Ischl and surrounding towns. We enjoyed walking to town and loved Bad Ischl, but we found this a great location to head off to other towns from. Seeing we had been traveling for 2 weeks when we arrived, we had lots of dirty laundry. The hosts allowed us to use their laundry facility downstairs so when we left we left with clean clothes. We wish we had more time here.
We recently had an 8-night trip from Munich to Prague via Austria, of which 3 nights were spent at Haus Strutzenberger. From the moment I saw it on Expedia I was enchanted, I couldn't believe it when the TripAdvisor reviews turned out to be so favourable... And I couldn't believe it when I was standing in apartment 1 gazing out at the beautiful view before us. So you can guess this is a positive review! The house: is beautiful, traditional on the outside, spectacularly clean and cosy on the inside, has amazing views, comfy beds, a kitchen that has a fridge (with small freezer compartment), cooker (with built-in microwave), dishwasher, toaster, kettle... Also located in the cupboard was a bottle of cooking oil and a roll of aluminium foil which saved us going out and buying some! The hosts: Linda & Trevor are what really make it to be honest. They are omnipresent without actually being there (if that makes sense) - it was always a joy to see them and chat with them, and they were always there when we needed them, but it wasn't like they were always right outside our door or anything. They are truly passionate about the house, the area, and just about everything! They can help you with just about anything, and know a lot about the local history. Linda picked us up at the train station and then, when we were checked in on Saturday afternoon, she told us if we wanted to go to the supermarket we needed to hurry as the supermarkets aren't open on Sundays (I already knew that, it's the norm in Austria) but as Monday was a holiday they wouldn't be open then either - and then Linda very kindly drove us to the supermarket, pretty much all the way back the way we'd just come, and even lent us a huge bag to carry our shopping in. We would have been stuck without her help! When it came to checking out, Trevor drove us to the train station, even though we were leaving earlier than the check-out time. Honestly, we were shown such kindness. All in all, there is only one bad thing I have to say and that is that we ever had to leave! We had the most peaceful and relaxing time sitting on the balcony, drinking our wine from the supermarket, watching it grow dark. It was easily our favourite place to stay on our trip or, in fact, of any trip over the past few years. We loved it so much that now we want to go back to see it in the snow. …
Really nice, clean and cosy apartment including nice relaxing big terrace with a beautiful mountain view. Bad Ischl is a great spot in the area, close to so many hiking, biking, shopping, eating out,.. possibilities. We felt welcome and like at home, thanks a lot Linda and Trevor! :)
Everyone involved in the ski industry around Bad Ischl want to be your friend. They can't do enough to please you, from the lift operators to the ski pass cashiers to the waitresses to the ski rentals.... you name it, they ALL want to be your friend Trevor and Linda of Haus Strutzenberger are also good friends in Austria and their home of homes is very inviting with all mod cons. First class accommodation with first class eateries and things to explore all nearby. I've been many times and the skiing has never disappointed. I have also been in the summer and the experience was just as inviting. The views are stunning to say the least and this photo is what I wake up to every year when I go back. GO! You will not regret it. And of course my last and most hearty thanks go to Damon! You'll find out who he is only if you take my advice and GO!…
A return to one of my favourite places after a bout of ill health. It was so good to be there once more and me and my wife were made so welcome yet again by Linda and Trevor. The accommodation is first rate and there have been improvements and modernisation since our visit last year. It's like being home.
Another long weekend skiing for us in Dachstein West, staying with Trevor and Linda. They are attentive and knowledgeable hosts who make sure your stay is truly memorable, whether its which is the best resturant to try, which pizza to order in or which mountain hut to take lunch in, they have it covered. The rooms are warm and comfortable, very well equipped and very well maintained. Top marks guys - see you again!
Albeit a short 2 days stay, it was wonderful nonetheless. To be honest, when we booked, we didn't quite know what to expect as there weren't any of the major hospitality chains we knew in Bad Ischl. We needed to use Bad Ischl as a base into Hallstatt. So we took a leap of faith based on reviews. It totally didn't disappoint. We emailed the owners, Linda and Trevor, to advise of our arrival time of 3pm from Salzburg. They were kind enough to offer us a pick up from the station but we were a little adventurous and wanted to try to get to the property on our own. We got a taxi instead and when we got to there, Linda was already at the door to welcome us. The check-in process was quick and simple. Linda left us with 2 Salzkammergut cards, some vouchers for Gluhwein at the Lion's Club and a map. She also quickly oriented us and told us which was the quickest way into town by foot (was a scenic 15 minute walk). The apartment was a 1 bedroom apartment, with a lounge/rest area and a balcony overlooking the hills, and a dining area and an adjoining kitchen. It was very homey and cozy. You don't get the clinical feeling of staying in a hotel at all and that made it more pleasurable. The following day, we needed Linda's advice as we weren't prepared for the snow (it poured down overnight and we woke to a snow-blanketed Bad Ischl) Linda suggested we pick up a pair of strap-on snow cleats and even gave us the shop to get them from. On the day we checked out, Trevor wanted to drop us off at the station but we gratefully declined since we had 4 hours to kill before we got on the train to Graz. We decided to take in the views one last time along the Bad Ischl Esplanade which runs along the Traun because we didn't know when we'd be back again - hopefully soon! We highly recommend this property for its hosts, it homey feel, it's nice scenic walk into the city, and its quiet surroundings at nights. An added bonus is when it snows, you get a beautiful view of the snow-blanketed views of the mountains and fields right in front of the property.…
