As we can't travel abroad I decided to stay at the Grand Hyatt for a break from "normal" life and to have the feeling that I was outside Macau and enjoy the good weather by the pool. Their pool is really big and nice to swim and there's a lot of chairs around it. I booked the grand suite and it is really spacious with space to eat and to just chill out. We enjoyed the Grand Club and were always welcomed by Ms. Tina and her staff. They were all very nice and welcoming and made us feel really at home. Breakfast buffet was nice for the Grand Club but not with a wide food selection as in a "normal" restaurant but one needs to understand that there are still limitations due to covid. This being said, it is still a very good breakfast with a good food selection, with egg station, Chinese noodle station, yogurt, fruit, chia pudding, muesli, congee, dim sum, cheese, breads and pastries. I've tried the Grand Club afternoon tea and the evening cocktail and it was all very good. I really like this hotel and I keep coming back!

Fantastic check-in and club lounge service. One of my main motivation is to use a 50m swimming pool as part of my vacation program, unfortunately, not even my second visit can use this facility, cause swimming pool even saying is heated, still very cool and nobody was be able to swim there.

I had a wonderful experience during my recent staycation at Grant Hyatt Macau. Thanks to Kent Peng at the front desk for anticipating all our needs throughout the stay and to Tina and her staff in the Grand Club for making me so welcome! The room was great and very clean--water pressure awesome and any requests were handled efficiently. We were able to get a super quiet room and that's just what I needed to rejuvenate!

Considering how much I use TripAdvisor to research my trips, it seems I have a bad habit of forgetting to leave my own reviews to help inform others (and the establishments that would use the feedback to improve themselves). So, I am going to make an effort to leave as many reviews as I can from now on. I stayed in the Grand Hyatt from 2021 Dec 28 - 2022 Jan 02, in room 2863, so for 5 nights in total. I chose the Hyatt because it seemed to have fairly good reviews as a hotel and good reviews for their buffet breakfast. The 2 most important things to me are the room and the breakfast buffet. Room - Pros (1) The room is spacious and has a nice area with an L shaped sofa where you can sit, use your computer, read etc. The views out of my window were of the airport and a partial view of the Wynn - which was fine - not unpleasant but neither was it particularly scenic. (2) The Bath/Shower room is large and in one enclosed space. The bath tub is very big and great for soaking, it's also right by the window so you can look at the view. (3) Noise insulation in the room was good in regard to noise from the corridor. Generally you would not hear anybody in the corridors, except perhaps a door closing or something. No noise from other/adjoining rooms, not on my floor at least. Cons: (1) My room was in need of some repair and refurbishment. In the attached photos you can see areas of the ceiling that need to be repaired and repainted. The carpet is worn out/stained and needs to be replaced. An area of the tile floor in the bathroom needs to be replaced as well. (2) The pillows were either too soft or too lumpy, so perhaps also need replacing. I asked for a different pillow, but it was the same as the other 4, so I did not ask again, as it would most likely be the same. (3) The mattress is on the firm side, so whilst not hard, it is not soft either. (4) The air conditioning does not make the room warm enough, which I think is the same case for the other areas of the hotel as well - a bit on the cold side. Had to use an additional blanket at night. (5) There are issues with light leakage with a gap between the room door and the frame, which was temporarily fixed with masking tape. Also the fire alarm light on the ceiling has a very bright white light that flashes every few seconds and doesn't help you get to sleep at night - this was also solved with masking tape. (The masking tape solution was implemented by hotel maintenance). (6) There was just one day when the upstairs guest was a bit noisy, other than that I didn't notice anything else. If you are sensitive to noise, there are also periodic shows next door to the hotel at certain intervals in the evening, when you will hear their music. At the weekends this can go on to the early hours, so you should bring ear plugs for the weekend, which are what I used. (7) The slippers provided are really thin and not comfortable. I was given a much more comfortable pair for the last 2 days, not because I asked for them, but they were just given to me. So, you should ask for other slippers if you are given the very thin ones. (8) The TV is a little too small for how far it is from the Bed and the sofa. Also the retractable arm does not extend properly out, it gets stuck at an angle. So, did not watch any TV. (Would have been good to have been able to connect the laptop to the TV, but if I had it would have been too far from the Sofa to use effectively). (9) I had room service one time, a club sandwich. This was disappointing. A traditional club sandwich should have 3 layers of toast, chicken breast, bacon, tomatoes and lettuce. This club sandwich had 2 layers of bread, no bacon and a small amount of meat that was perhaps not breast meat. Was pretty thin overall. The fries were also not crispy and bit soggy. Quite small, so for 228 MOD, that was very disappointing. Perhaps the other items on the menu are better, but I would avoid Room Service based on this. Breakfast Buffet One of my favourite things about staying in a hotel is the breakfast buffet, so I always try to choose a hotel that has good reviews in this regard. I think the previous reviews I read were for their restaurant on the 3rd floor, which was closed for breakfast, I think because there are less guests due to Covid 19. So this review is for their breakfast buffet served in their club lounge on the 37th floor. Due to the club lounge set up, the choice is limited as compared to what you might expect from a full breakfast buffet served in the main restaurant of a 5 star hotel. (My reference point for comparison is the Shangri-la as this is where I have stayed the most in my life due to my families habit and this is probably a competitor to the Hyatt at around the same price point). Whilst the selection was much smaller, generally the quality of what was provided was of good quality. The Western selection was an egg station and baked beans, bacon and sausages every day. There was also one day mushrooms the next small roast potatoes that would alternate on a daily basis. The roast potatoes looked crunchy, but were actually soft and not appetising. There was also a good selection of pastries, danishes, muffins, croissants, egg tarts. That's pretty much what I eat at a Western Buffet breakfast so that's good for me. (No strawberry jam though, which is what most people would probably eat with a croissant). There is also Yoghurt, some fruits, cereal, granola mix, cheese and cold meats. On the Asian side there is dim sum, a noodle station, Congee, Soya milk, YouTiao and alternate selection of fried noodles or fried rice. It seemed limited on the Asian side, but I don't eat a lot of that for Breakfast. Of course there is a coffee machine that does all types of coffee, which was good, and tea. Orange Juice or Water melon juice. My main issue with the lounge set up was that they use small side plates which is not appropriate for eating a conventional meal, because you can't fit a normal size portion on one plate. It makes eating a normal meal, messy, impractical and frustrating. I know that small plates are used in the lounge for the rest of the day, when they have small offerings for afternoon tea and for snacks in the evening, which is entirely appropriate because they are not proper meals. However, breakfast is a full meal, so they should provide a normal size plate. If you look at the pictures of the eggs and then the beans, sausage and bacon, which have to be put on 2 small side plates respectively - how do you propose that this is eaten in a sensible manner? The Shangri-la also have a buffet breakfast in their club lounge and they provide normal size plates for breakfast and small plates for the rest of the day. (Although if I have club access, I would normally choose to eat in the buffet downstairs for breakfast for the wider choice). I cannot understand why side plates are used in this context unless the goal is to limit the amount of food that can be taken. If that is the case, then it's not a good look for a 5 star hotel and it also leaves the guest with a pretty negative impression. I pointed this out to the staff on the first day and their response was that they don't have normal size plates. On the second day I pointed this out again and got the same response, which created a lot of frustration, so I took those 2 pictures. I think they saw me taking the pictures and later I was approached by one of the managers who said that they could give me a normal size plate. So for the last few days at least I got to eat breakfast in a fairly normal way, without having to eat eggs, bacon etc with 3 separate plates. I should say that the staff themselves individually were fine and fairly accommodating, but it should not be so hard to get access to a normal size plate. I think they became more accommodating after they realised that they were facing a possible complaint, which is not exactly the best way to lead customer service. So, I would hope they would provide normal size plates at Breakfast for everyone in the future. If you are happy with the lounge type setting for Breakfast that I have described, then you should have no issues. Some people may prefer the more intimate set up and not be too bothered with not having a wide selection of offerings or using small plates. General Observations The Gym looked fine. The pool was extremely long and has a great outdoor setting with a view of the incredible Morpheus hotel. If you are a swimmer then I think you will really enjoy that pool. Unfortunately I've injured my shoulder so can't swim at the moment. The general decor of the hotel is dark and metallic, it gives the impression that it is geared towards a more professional/business minded clientele. Apart from a cafe in the lobby, there didn't seem to be anywhere else to eat in the hotel. The 3rd floor restaurant was apparently booked up for their dinner buffet for the entire week I was there. Certainly no small casual settings to eat or drink. The City of Dreams does not have a very good food court, so there are no good options to eat nearby the hotel either. You would have to walk over to the Venetian which has a great food court. It's right opposite the MGM where there is a shuttle bus to the other MGM on the Macau side. Also where you can get a Nucleic Acid Test. I probably would not stay on the Cotai strip the next time. All the shops seem the same in every hotel complex so it does not really matter where you stay. (No matter what they say, the shops are generally ALL high end in Macau casinos e.g. Dior, Chanel, LV etc.). I would prefer somewhere with more access to the "normal" parts of Macau. If you had to stay in Cotai area, perhaps in the Galaxy complex, because you can easily walk over to the Old Taipa area, whilst also have some modern conveniences. Summary It seems from my review that I have far more negative memories of my stay at the Hyatt than positive ones, which clearly is not a good outcome. This is perhaps because it is a 5 star hotel, so one does have certain expectations, so if they are not met then they tend to stand out quite plainly. These are things that I generally have not encountered in other similar hotels. I should add that the staff are individually friendly and helpful, for example Sigit in the lobby, but a lot of the issues I've pointed out have nothing to do with the individuals themselves. I think for their price point and their offerings, either what is offered needs to be improved or the price needs to be lower.

Booked Grand Hyatt Macau for a business trip as well as a family staycation with my 1.5 yo niece. Had a very enjoyable stay and would love to go back. Book their rooms with Club Access, Club Lounge’s breakfast and afternoon tea as well as the team’s attentiveness and service are worth every penny.

Having a great time during my staycation during 19-20 dec 2021! Would like to pay Jack, from front desk, a huge compliment. He provided excellent service which made my family and I a very joyful staycation. Besides from offering us a great room, he arranged dinner and breakfast plans for us. Every time we met him in the lobby, he recognized us and greet us with his signature smile. Although we couldn’t try the beautiful swimming pool due to typhoon, We enjoyed the Christmas family photos and video games at the mall. I will definitely recommend my friends to visit Macau Grand Hyatt and I will consider coming again soon.

Beautiful Hotel. The interior was magnificent. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Would like to specially compliment Jack (Front Office). Jack welcomed my family and I with his big smile. Being attentive and observant, Jack provided excellent service and information for our stay, including reserving the best choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner. We had the best food and time! Jack surprised my kids with the Grand Hyatt Polar Bears. My 5-year old daughter carried the bear during the whole trip. She made a little Christmas Tree Card to thank Jack for his thoughtful gift. During the stay, whenever we saw Jack in the Front Office area, Jack was not just like our personal butler but also a friend. His knowledge and service was awesome. Thank you Jack and the Grand Hyatt team members. You all delivered WOW experience and made us enjoy the best for our holidays even we can’t travel. Thank You and Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

We were surprised to see that a baby play pan was set up in the room, along with baby amenities and cot! Everything was very nice and customer service was excellent. The staff brought my daughter crayons at the lobby lounge and during breakfast the staff also gave her a soft Toy souvenir! It was a very pleasant and warming stay we will definitely return and recommend to others!

Coming to Grand Hyatt Macau after my 14 days quarantined in Macau. Despite the hotel being one of the earliest establishments services rendered by the room, concierge, front office and Grand Club are excellent . Rooms are well maintained though the spa should be upgraded. I will definitely go back to the Grand Hyatt Macau again who is successful makes you feel at home.
