We stayed there for two nights. The room was clean and comfy. Homestay is located 4 mins from main street, which enables you to rest from crowds and noises. However, there is definitaly a need of renovation. The toilet flush was not working well - need of using trash bin. Sink was moving like crazy. These are small things which...

We ended up staying for a week! Absolutely loved the Gilie islands.... but isn't the cheapest place to be. We were very lucky to find great homestay, great value for money {it was so cheap especially compared to anywhere else we looked). The rooms are a good size and clean. The beds are comfy. The bathroom is basic but we...

After just arriving at Gili T, me and a friend were aiming to stay at a bungalow where two travel friends were staying. Before finding this particular place,we needed a cheap temporary place to stay and freshen up. Burned up and exhausted from walking around the streets, we came across the "Black Sand"-hostel where we eventually stayed. It was unexpectedly...

In an island where prices are french or german designed we found this little oasis at more than reasonable prices. Its owner/manager is called Black, he is honest and flexible. If you stay more than 2 days you may get a good price in a AC Room. Internet works fine too. Dont expect a 4-5 star hotel but i must...

Accomodation for backpacker. 300 m to beachfront (beach shoes recommended (stones, dead corals). + friendly and helpful staff, good english skills + fair...

Black and his staff are the most beautiful and nicest people I´ve met during my travel through southeast Asia. Beside the best banana pancakes in the world, the nice garden and the pretty rooms is Black the best guest father in the world. He keeps care of you and you can play guitar with all his friends in the evening,...

I stayed in a hostel for a few days when I first came to Gili T to meet people, then biked around a little to find the right place to make my home for the following week. I'm so glad I found Black Sand. It's just on the better edge of town, away from the noise of the bars, cockerels...

Good: Cheap (200k a night) , friendly, good breakfast, clean, the owner is cool; we came back one night and he and his friends/employees were all having a sing song around candle light (since the power had been cut off - this is normail ish on the island) we were invited and he then invited us out for drinks with...

I really enjoyed my stay here. Clean room and really really friendly staff. Showers were cold, but you'll only find hot ones in resorts at the other side of the island. The atmosphere of here is unmatched anywhere. Would definitely recommend to stay at Black Sands. They only have 4 rooms though..
