Ekesparre Boutique Hotel is Saaremaa's oldest hotel, built in 1908. It is located in the resort town of Kuressaare on the island of Saaremaa, right next to the town's main attraction, an impressive castle. A sandy beach is just a few minute walk away. The Art-Noveau style rooms feature patterned carpets and wallpapers. Each comes with a TV with satellite channels, as well as a minibar and a private bathroom. Guests at the hotel can enjoy a buffet breakfast made from local produce in the lobby or outside. There is a bar with a wide selection of drinks. Free entry to Georg Ots Spa is included in the room rate. Guests can also use the library or benefit from the ironing and laundry services at the hotel. The 24-hour front desk can assist in boat or car reservations, as well as ferry or airplane tickets. The hotel is located 300 metres from the sandy beach, and 400 metres from the yacht marina. Kuressaare Airport is just 2.5 km away and the central bus station is 1.2 km from Ekesparre Boutique Hotel.

From the moment you walk into Ekesparre Boutique Hotel you know you’ve found something special. Situated in the heart of Kuressaare this boutique hotel combines luxury with culture. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist (sadly I didn't catch her name, but I have attached an image of her which was displayed on their wall - hope this helps so she can see this review!). She was impeccably dressed, oozed class and had a warm personality. She gave us a tour of the hotel, whilst passionately sharing with us the history of the site. Her presence instantly put us in a calm, present state, I’ve never experienced such excellent people skills / customer service. She was pure class and an excellent representative for this beautiful hotel. We decided to book four nights (instead of one), as we felt so relaxed and inspired by the energy of this place. Our room was incredible, beautiful views overlooking the castle - so magical! The breakfast on site is such a lovely experience too, with stunning plates and saucers, great food options and of course bubbly champagne offered too - how fun! :) I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it is the best option to book a place on this island. Thank you for creating such a lovely experience for us at Kursessaare! We'll be back next Summer! Britt & Martin

I've wrote about this place at least 2 times before, because everytime we are in Kuressaare, we are staying here. Perfect location, just stone throw away from beautiful Castle and few minutes walk from Old Town's Main Road. Free parking outside, friendly and professional service, cozy and stylish interior and our room with balcony and view to the Castle was comfy. Complimentaru breakfast was amazing, they bring home made smoothies and fruit bowls to the table, then they made omelettes etc. just how you want it and don't forget that sparkling wine :) We had a great package, that included also tickets to Spa, Dinner, complimentary wines, tickets to the Castle etc. so overall once again, we were more than satisfied!

Things we liked: The hotel is very close to the city center, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes around. We were allowed to bring our dog and were provided a room on the ground floor. There is a pretty and small summer garden at the back. Hotel offers free parking. Very nice upper floor library. Disappointing things: 1. The hotel is surrounded by water trenches, so in summer/autumn expect many insects in the room. The rooms are stuffy and obviously don't have A/C, so once you open a window - your drinks and food are covered with fruit flies. Why there are no pre-installed insect repellents in the sockets in the rooms?? 2. Yes, our dog was allowed, however it cost us 25 euros/night for a small dog. 3. The staff was welcoming, but not helpful and sometimes unprofessional. We asked if breakfast can be ordered to out room. Answer - "Not sure, I think it costs". We asked if they could help us out with the flies. Answer - "I think we had a insect killer spray somewhere, maybe on the 3rd floor...". That's it, no solutions provided. After that we decided not to ask for help anymore. 4. Housekeeping was a surprise. We came to a room with dirty bathroom, dead flies on the windowsills, cobwebs on fan blades and dust. The day they cleaned the room they didn't change the bed sheets, didn't remove the dead flies from windowsills, and the floor was most likely not vacuumed. The fresh towels were just tossed on a stool in the bathroom. Nothing "luxurious" if you ask me. 5. The furniture is quite dated and smells funny. Also the bed/mattress was not comfy. We woke up with back pain every morning. 6. The hotel does not have a restaurant. 7. Breakfast was good, but certainly not "best in town". Sometimes the juices served are off, and don't expect that champagne to be offered every day :) Why? No idea. Probably the waitresses just forget sometimes. As for warm breakfast choices - omelet with ham and cheese or fried eggs and bacon. Every day. No other options. I really dislike writing negative reviews. But in this case I cannot keep silent as I find all the positive reviews misleading. Maybe if the prices were lower, I guess some negative aspects could've been ignored. But with such high room rates, I find it unacceptable to have poor service and housekeeping.

Excellent location and service make it perfect both short and long holidays. Most of the rooms have balconies overlooking an ancient castle. Breakfast is rich and healthy. Children are welcome. You'll get many extras, e.g. private parking, free access to a local spa, etc

Location next to the castle. Parking place, very helpful personnel, really good breakfast. Bed could be better and ventilation more quiet. Definitely worth of price I had to pay. If I come to Kuressaare again I will stay the same place.

We loved this place. We only had two nights but wish we had longer. The hotel is beautiful and is in the best location in the castle grounds by the moat. Our room which had a little balcony overlooked the castle. The room including bed and bathroom was huge. Staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. Particularly during the stunning breakfast which included a glass of champagne and a fruit smoothie and fruit salad as well as freshly cooked options and a buffet with freshly baked goods and local produce. All served in the grand lounge overlooking the castle. On arrival we were unexpectedly given vouchers for a welcome drink in the bar next door. And also daily vouchers for the George Ots Spa. Kurresarre is also such a lovely place. We can't wait to go back and stay here again. It really was a perfect and amazing experience.

My husband and I stayed there earlier this summer, and found the hotel very accommodating. Great location. On the other side of the moat from the citadel! In a park like setting. Very picturesque. And breakfasts were fabulous in a beautiful, comfy sitting room. Staff, and hotel management, were very helpful. Recommend it highly.

We booked a one night stay in Ekesparre for our wedding anniversary. We got married in Kuressaare Castle 3 years ago and this place is very special for us. We thought to stay the night in this particular hotel due to its location being so close to the hotel and we wanted to treat ourselves to something really unique and nice. The hotel is very nice with unique art deco. We were welcomed with Happy Anniversary Greetings and vouchers for GOSPA Spa and complimentary drinks in Ku Kuu restaurant which is right near the castle and the hotel. Both were very nice experiences, At the check-in we mentioned that we are Vegan as the breakfast was included. They made sure we had plant milk for us in the morning for coffee and porridge and also vegan Alpro yogurt to have with fresh fruit and muesli. Overall we enjoyed our stay there very much. Thank you!
