Ekesparre Boutique Hotel is Saaremaa's oldest hotel, built in 1908. It is located in the resort town of Kuressaare on the island of Saaremaa, right next to the town's main attraction, an impressive castle. A sandy beach is just a few minute walk away. The Art-Noveau style rooms feature patterned carpets and wallpapers. Each comes with a TV with satellite channels, as well as a minibar and a private bathroom. Guests at the hotel can enjoy a buffet breakfast made from local produce in the lobby or outside. There is a bar with a wide selection of drinks. Free entry to Georg Ots Spa is included in the room rate. Guests can also use the library or benefit from the ironing and laundry services at the hotel. The 24-hour front desk can assist in boat or car reservations, as well as ferry or airplane tickets. The hotel is located 300 metres from the sandy beach, and 400 metres from the yacht marina. Kuressaare Airport is just 2.5 km away and the central bus station is 1.2 km from Ekesparre Boutique Hotel.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
From the moment you walk into Ekesparre Boutique Hotel you know you’ve found something special. Situated in the heart of Kuressaare this boutique hotel combines luxury with culture.
We were greeted by a lovely receptionist (sadly I didn't catch her name, but I have attached an image of her which was displayed on their wall - hope this helps so she can see this review!). She was impeccably dressed, oozed class and had a warm personality. She gave us a tour of the hotel, whilst passionately sharing with us the history of the site. Her presence instantly put us in a calm, present state, I’ve never experienced such excellent people skills / customer service. She was pure class and an excellent representative for this beautiful hotel.
We decided to book four nights (instead of one), as we felt so relaxed and inspired by the energy of this place.
Our room was incredible, beautiful views overlooking the castle - so magical!
The breakfast on site is such a lovely experience too, with stunning plates and saucers, great food options and of course bubbly champagne offered too - how fun! :)
I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it is the best option to book a place on this island.
Thank you for creating such a lovely experience for us at Kursessaare! We'll be back next Summer!

I've wrote about this place at least 2 times before, because everytime we are in Kuressaare, we are staying here. Perfect location, just stone throw away from beautiful Castle and few minutes walk from Old Town's Main Road. Free parking outside, friendly and professional service, cozy and stylish interior and our room with balcony and view to the Castle was comfy. Complimentaru breakfast was amazing, they bring home made smoothies and fruit bowls to the table, then they made omelettes etc. just how you want it and don't forget that sparkling wine :) We had a great package, that included also tickets to Spa, Dinner, complimentary wines, tickets to the Castle etc. so overall once again, we were more than satisfied!

We spend two wedding days in this beautiful hotel and it’s postcard like surroundings. Loved just everything. Like a time travel to a fantacy. Great location beside the castle which could been seen thru our bed room window. The weather was exellant and having great breakfast on the terrace. The place was very clean and very well maintained. Would love to visit again. Thank you Egesparre and the staff!

Rimantic looking and idyllic boutique hotel right next to the Kuressare old bishop’s castle. Convinient parking lot for residence. Ideal location for example people attending the July music festivals. The standing water next to it seems to attract mosquitos though

Ekesparre is a beautiful 17th century house, built on the orders of a Swedish artillery officer. The gentleman’s house is situated near the entrance to a castle from the Middle Ages. It is far from being a five star hotel. The location of Ekesparre is great near the center of the village of Kuressaare on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa.
The rooms are spacious, but not special. Staff and management of the self proclaimed five star hotel are mostly unprofessional. The poor breakfast is of bad quality and not in accordance with its rating as a five star hotel. Information is not provided and even simple questions about the village or the island can usually not be answered. There is no restaurant on the premises. The Spa facilities supposedly offered by the hotel are a kilometer away at another hotel. Due to its bad overall standards the price/ quality of this hotel is very low, particularly as the room rates are outrageous.
The many shortcomings are not surprising given the fact, that most of the staff has no background or training in the hospitality industry. The staff works only for five months a year at the hotel. From October till May the hotel is closed. No wonder that Ekesparre, which presents itself to the outside world as a five star boutique hotel is locally being advertised as a residence. A nice residence at most, but certainly not more.

We would like to notice that our hotel was built on about 1928. We don´t know where our guest had information that we have 5 stars, this information is not true. Our hotel is a very small 10-rooms boutique hotel and we don´t have official star rating. As many old houses we don´t have SPA and as our house is located in very restricted area we can´t built it in the future also. As a complimentary gift for our dear guests we give SPA-vouchers for free to visit Georg Ots SPA. Mostly our guests are very happy about that. We have restaurant which is not located in our hotel building but 100m from us. Our house is too small to open restaurant there. Information about our services and locations is given to our customers through confirmation, during check in and it is available on our homepage. We are very sorry if some our guests have misunderstanding about our services. We haven´t promised more that we offer. We are very glad that mostly our guests understand our efforts and it is shown as very high rating in Tripadvisor and Booking.com. We are very grateful for all dear friendly guests and to serve all you is our great joy. Welcome!

We loved this place. We only had two nights but wish we had longer. The hotel is beautiful and is in the best location in the castle grounds by the moat. Our room which had a little balcony overlooked the castle. The room including bed and bathroom was huge.
Staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. Particularly during the stunning breakfast which included a glass of champagne and a fruit smoothie and fruit salad as well as freshly cooked options and a buffet with freshly baked goods and local produce. All served in the grand lounge overlooking the castle.
On arrival we were unexpectedly given vouchers for a welcome drink in the bar next door. And also daily vouchers for the George Ots Spa.
Kurresarre is also such a lovely place. We can't wait to go back and stay here again. It really was a perfect and amazing experience.

We were slightly disappointed, hence the 3-stars rating. On the plus side, the hotel is nice, service was good and friendly and they did not pose any trouble checking out earlier to move to another hotel. Room decor was a bit weird (furniture, more than 19th century look from the 1960s), but that is a matter of taste. Unfortunately the main problem we had was the sleeping quality. Mattresses in all rooms are not good quality and they compromise sleep quality. They do not belong to a hotel like that. I woke up with a terrible back pain (something that only happens when the mattress is very bad). Ventilation inside the room is also noisy and cannot be switched off. The hotel lacks on amenities (unlike other bigger hotels in Kuressaare) and they do not even have a restaurant. Breakfast quality was below average in both selection and quality of the foods. A hotel with potential, but under my humble opinion they currently do not know how to exploit it.
