We stayed for three nights at the Sir Joan hotel at a moment where the hotel was very quiet due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. However, even with only a few guests in the hotel, the staff was excellent in helping us get the most out of our stay!

After a welcome with a complimentary drink we received a free upgrade (as we had booked directly via Sir Joan’s website) to a beautiful room with a huge terrace overlooking the pool area. During the stay, we had dinner in several very nice restaurants thanks to the Concierge WhatsApp service which the hotel provides. They made some great suggestions for restaurants and beaches which we would not have found ourselves!

There is a trendy vibe in the hotel thanks to the IZAKAYA restaurant which is very busy every night, with a DJ playing until late - also a very nice location to have a drink after returning from an evening out.

All in all, highly recommended!

Stayed from 27 July - 3 Aug 2021.

What a hotel, what a team, what a location.

I was traveling to visit ibiza on my own.

I was made to feel extremely welcome from the moment I first walked in until the moment I sadly had to leave to the airport. The reception team, the restaurant and bar team, and all were absolutely fabulous and I am grateful to them for excellent service. Location of the hotel is great as well a 15 min walk to the town and a 5 min walk to the marina.

Reservations all made by the hotel team for beaches and restaurants with excellent recommendations. As soon as you leave to go to the beach you are given a towel and bottled water by the team at the hotel, even the Covid test is arranged by the hotel to be done in the comfort of your own room. Anything you need can be communicated directly to them via their WhatsApp number and response is usually within seconds.

Izakaya is a great restaurant with a superb vibe, atmosphere and great music/food/restaurant and bar service. Try their toro tuna tartare it's the best I've ever had.

I cannot recommend this place enough and a big thanks again to all the team for your hard work and excellent service.

We stayed for 6 nights in early October, after the high season but with the city still quite busy. Sir Joan has an excellent location, as one can have the benefits of a center location (a 10 minutes walk to the old city walls), avoiding the issues of excess of noise and traffic. The staff was friendly and effective, breakfasts were very good. The room was big and comfortable, even if the decoration may not please everybody (for us it was not an issue). Perfection doesn't exist, so we found little things that could be better, especially for older guests (e.g. lack of a hand bar in the shower to prevent falls or the very heavy door to the toilet), but they don't change our overall very positive opinion.

We booked this long weekend Ibiza at the last minute, as it was recently added to the UK green list, which meant that prices were astronomical. We had hopes that even at the inflated prices, Sir Joan would be worth the cost. I think it was a lovely hotel that probably would have been worth its normal price point, but unfortunately I don't feel like it lived up to what we ended up paying entirely.

First, I would like to say that everyone we dealt with was absolutely lovely. Kind, polite, and accommodating people from the front desk, to the valet staff, to the restaurant.

We paid for an upgrade to a deluxe room with the hope that we would get a better view (I feel like it even mentioned "more of a view" in the description). Unfortunately we were given a room that faced the traffic roundabout, an Ikea, and a PACHA billboard. We couldn't see water or boats or the town center if we tried. There was a balcony, but it wasn't pleasant to use. The rest of the room was nice enough, but probably not worth the upgrade. The configuration made the closet difficult to use, and the heavy bathroom door shut automatically, trapping damp air in the bathroom. We had to find ways of keeping the door propped open.

One day we came back from the beach desperate for a shower and a nap under the aircon, but the power was out in our room. It was fixed within 20 minutes or so at the fuse box, however, which we were grateful for.

The location seemed ok. It was our first time in Ibiza, and it felt a bit removed from the charm of the town center, but we could walk there in 15 minutes or so.

We had an ok breakfast, but you might find better options venturing away from the hotel. The covid accommodations to the typical buffet didn't quite measure up. I wish we had the opportunity to try the restaurants for dinner, but we didn't.

Finally, I'll say the most frustrating experience was around getting taxis. I know this isn't the hotel's problem, but there's a massive taxi shortage on the island, and the hotel has no special ability to get them. You might wait 2 minutes or 45 minutes. I don't blame the hotel for this! However, we did find that the front desk was regularly understaffed. We were running late for our flight out, and there was only one person working checkout, and spending an inordinate amount of time handling another customer's dispute over the value of a voucher. We nearly ended up writing our room number down and running out the door. It felt like at checkout time on a Sunday, you'd be sure to have more people helping guests, but no one seemed like they were in any hurry.

While this review seems critical, I felt I needed to justify giving it an average score, while others have found it to be pretty great. To reiterate, had we paid the normal cost, I think we would have been quite happy, but the little things that didn't go well felt all that much more annoying at the premium price we paid.

All staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The venue generally and our room were very clean and in very good ofer. Really liked that natural toiletries were provided and the bed linen was super smooth.

Breakfast was fabulous with a diverse range of choices, beautifully presented and flavoursome! Breakfast room hours are until 1pm and you can eat inside or by the pool.

We loved dinner at their restaurant - excellent value for money for the size, quality, presentation and incredible flavours. Loved everything about our stay here. Thanks to Kaisu and her team for a fantastic stay!

We booked here after a different hotel cancelled our booking on the day of our check in. After much stress at the previous place, we were delighted to arrive at Sir Joan. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the hotel interiors are beautiful.

More positives - the location is great and just a short walk from Ibiza old town. The room was beautiful with amazing features and storage.

Unfortunately due to COVID the restaurant was closed for dinner though, still operating for breakfast. We were alerted of this on arrival. Given the premium service of the hotel I was surprised no form of compensation was offered as this wasn't flagged at the time of booking or when I had called ahead to check how COVID has impacted proceedings.

I'm sure I would be a 5 stars with a fully functioning restaurant.

From the moment you step into this hotel everything is amazing, even the smell of it is amazing.

The reception staff greet you with the warmest smiles and can’t do enough for you throughout your stay.
The rooms are spacious and luxurious with fabulous fixtures and fittings and the comfy beds ensure a great nights sleep.
Breakfast by the pool is wonderful - there is a great choice of cold meats and cheeses, fresh breads, fresh fruit and juices, and your choice from a menu - I would recommend you to try an omelette…
It’s a real treat staying here, from start to finish and the manager needs highly commending for putting together such an amazing team. We’ve travelled a lot but never had service as good as this.

Thank you to all the team and a special shout out to David behind the bar and his signature cocktail - Tokyo Rose (see picture). Everyone should try at least one!
10 out 10 for every element of this holiday!!

Oh Sir Joan, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Oh, so many to count!

The absolute best thing about Sir Joan is the amazing, kind, friendly helpful staff!! We didn’t meet one person who wasn’t absolutely fantastic! We had the most interactions with the front desk concierge staff, Ariadna, Kaisu, Marcos, as well as Maxi & Kiki in the restaurant. Just 100% great people! They were all so helpful in recommendations and very responsive in responding to WhatsApp messages, what a great way to communicate with the hotel!

The hotel itself is gorgeous. Absolutely stunning property. We loved having a delicious cocktail at the bar and looking out at the stunning pool area. I loved that it all flowed together. Very chic. The breakfast was delicious as well. We came back after a late dinner one night and the dj was spinning house music in the living room area and the whole place had such a fun, chill yet party-mode vibe. So we stayed around and had a few more drinks and enjoyed ourselves. One of my favorite nights in Ibiza! From our balcony we had a cool view (straight down) of the yellow bikes and cool motorcycle out front. We didn’t use the bikes, but maybe next time, now that we know our way around a bit.

And now, the negatives, only a few, but worth mentioning.
Location: not great. There’s really nothing right around, except the Marina. Walking to town is about a 10-15 min walk. Not too bad until you’re tired, hot and/or hungry.
Second: the room size is really tiny (Sir Boutique), which was quite a disappointment for the price. The closet door had to be shut, in order to get to the sink area. Yes we had a balcony, which was nice, but no table or chairs out there to enjoy it. There was a bean-bag thing, but anyone older than early 20’s probably wouldn’t find it comfortable. Also, each morning when I turned on the coffee maker, it would shut off our power. So I had to call maintenance & they’d immediately come reset the breaker. I appreciate the speed in which they’d get it reset, but it was still an inconvenience when the room would heat up so quickly without the A/C.

But all in all, we enjoyed our stay at Sir Joan and already miss the wonderful staff!

What a wonderful stay at Sir Joan Hotel Ibiza - nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel both like VIPs and friends at the same time. Wonderful staff, beautiful rooms and exceptional breakfast.

The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the Centre of Ibiza Old Town or ‘Evissa’ and the hotel concierge are incredibly knowledgeable about the local area.

On arrival there was a problem with our room (the Air Conditioning unit was leaking water through the ceiling - just a new season teething problem I believe) and the staff immediately rectified the problem and moved us to another room, I was very impressed with how this was handled.

Everything was just wonderful at Sir Joan and this will now be our base for every trip we take to Ibiza.

The support and the help in the hotel is really disrespectful. We joined the Ibiza Regatta and didn’t wear nice dresses when we arrived, just the sailing Outfit The Concierge didn’t let us in until he saw we already payed the money. Also in the last day, they wanted to kick us out in a very unfriendly way until they checked we have one more day. Maybe check your reservation before you call the people out of there rooms. And don’t switch you mood from unfriendly to friendly just when you see the money.
And one more thing if you make us a present and give us a bottle of Cava, because you needed 2 hours for the check in, you can’t take the unopened bottle out of the room again, just because we didn’t drink it in the fist hour.
All in all the hotel has nice small rooms but the personal is not ok, and you can’t handle with you guest that way.
Kind Regards
Felix Beck

Do you have to pay for a sun lounger by the pool if you are a guest staying at the hotel?
Answer from Mrs G

No but the ones surrounding the pool are very popular and people do not tend to vacate them throughout the day. In fact they go to sleep on them. There are beds around the side which are less popular and as a consequence are more readily available. Also please do not expect a pool you can actually swim in.
