Had an amazing family holiday in Callao Salvaje and really enjoyed our stay at Albatros.
Hotel is brand new and looks amazing. The staff are really friendly and work hard to keep the place impeccably clean. The rooms themselves are basic but have absolutely everything you need for a self catered stay. Loads of restaurants in surrounding area if you don't fancy sorting food out for yourself.
Pool area is lovely and always clean. Never struggled to get a sunbed.
Number of reasons for 4 stars and not 5 -
-Building work was being carried out whilst we were there. We did recieve an email from TUI about this AFTER making our booking, and after looking at what "amendments" to our booking we were entitled to, we concluded it just wasn't worth the hassle of changing anything. We had a good price with the booking and alternative accommodation for the same price (as this is all you're actually entitled to unless you pay the difference!) was abysmal, so we just kept it as is. Whilst the building work by no means ruined our holiday, it was taking place for approximately 3 days of our week stay. One of those days was pretty much all day with a power drill/ jack hammer and it made sitting by the pool pretty irritating. Another day hammering started at 8 am, not what you want on holidays. Did ask reception if it was planned every day and she said it would only be that day, that was on the first day so it did continue another 2 after that. The email from TUI warning us of the work did also say measures would be taken (if possible) to mitigate any impact of the works i.e rooms away from the work. However, we were directly above where it was happening, which really didn't help anything. I appreciate work does sometimes need to happen but ultimately it happened during our stay and makes it impossible to give a 5 star review because of this.
Other factors that also impact scoring:-
-Rooms only have ceiling fans, not air conditioning. Room did get pretty warm at times, and we went in September, we couldn't cope in peak summer.
-We had a sea view room which on the website looked like it was only the rooms overlooking the pool, however there were other rooms around the side that whilst still had a sea view, were also partially obstructed by another hotel in front of us. We were also directly above a shop, which meant noise from awnings being put out early and late, general foot traffic and a super annoying bell noise everytime someone entered the shop.
These are the reasons for no 5 star review. If you went after the building work was completed and didn't gave a problem with no A/C it would be an easy 5 star review.
We had an amazing holiday and will definitely consider returning ourselves, but will just make sure it isn't during peak summer temperatures. Book and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We've been coming to Callao Salvaje for 13 years. This is the first time we stayed in Albatros Apartments by Malibu.
We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this place has become. It is renovated very good.
The rooms are spacious, very clean and have all you need.
There is USB-C next to the beds, ceiling fans with remote control, LED-lightning, free WiFi, Smart-TV.... What more could you wish for ?
We stayed on the 2nd floor, there is an elevator so no problem.
The pool and pool area are cleaned daily and very beautiful.
They even have a clothes store and supermarket in the complex.
The town is perfect. Just enough places to eat, cocktail bars, supermarket and quiet streets, slow traffic and just enough parking possibilities. :)
We'll sure be back !

Just returned home after a weeks stay with our grandchildren. Have to say what an amazing place to stay. On arrival we were greeted by Martin, who helped us with our cases which was lovely. Our room was not quite ready, however we were offered beach towels so the children could get changed and go in the pool and also borrowed some sun cream!! so happy children 😊 the apartment had a sea view and was absolutely spotless, also a bottle of wine and water was left for us which I think was a really nice gesture. Pool is a lovely size, just right for both adults and children. The team there clearly work very hard to keep the area outside and inside clean on a daily basis and are very friendly, always acknowledge with a smile and say hello. The only area we felt could be better would be to have air conditioning in the room as it was quite hot in the room, although we did have fans in both kitchen area and bedroom. Cutlery and utensils were more than adequate for what you need. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return, so thankyou to Martin and his team and we hope to see you again☀️☀️😊

Over the last couple of years when we saw this place being developed we didn't think for a minute that it would be as good as it is.The building is well contructed and beatifully finished. using high quality materials.They have redeveloped an older building and as a consquence rooms are really spacious,unlike recent new builds.Solid contruction means that internal noise issues are pretty well non existent. Large ,glass fronted balcony areas create even more light,and open feel to the rooms and the aspects mean cool mornings and baking afternoons,perfect.View depending on where you are,are pretty amazing,sunsets beautiful. Apartments are simply furnished,with good quality furnishings and are well equipped. ALL the staff here are kind and polite,and very welcoming,the credit for this is I am sure down to the Manager Martin, who seems to be absolutely everywhere and his standards rule. The place is immaculate,cleaners in evidence pretty much all the time and from the initial enquiry through to reception and then departure the whole experience was slick in a friendly way,faultless and proffesional,but most importantly we felt valued at all times.This is a tough act to follow......

Just returned from a week in a fabulous one bedroom apartment with balcony and sea view. The location is in the middle of this lovely quiet little town with many and varied restaurants within easy walking distance. A supermarket over the road. The apartment was modern, excellently equipped and spotlessly clean and kept that way by efficient cleaning staff. Martin on reception was most pleasant and helpful. This property has been fully and tastefully refurbished and will be reclasssed at a much higher and well deserved rating. You will not be disappointed.

We traveled as a family of 4 and arrived at this beautiful apartment, in the most beautiful location. The views are stunning! You couldn't get any closer to the sea. On arrival in our room was a bottle of wine and water, which was very much appreciated. The apartments are to a high standard, everything was provided. Full kitchen and utensils, spacious shower, powerful air-con, good strong sofa bed, rooms are accessed by keypad. The manager and staff are amazing! They go above and beyond, anything you need to know just ask. The housekeeping and pool cleaners are polite and work very hard to keep this place immaculate. There is a rooftop sunbathing area and a pool area with plenty sunlougners, chairs and parasols and a good sized pool. When people leave, they leave their inflatables for others to use. Everyone was really friendly, all different ages and we all got along round the pool. They have shops on site that you get a discount card for. The shop staff are so friendly and it is a well stocked shop. There are lots of places to eat locally, I would personally recommend the Casa Maria, the Chinese in the square area, and Eclipse Cafe. We booked directly with the Manager to come back next year for 2 weeks and we know so many others did the same. The whole package is here, welcoming, friendly, great views, spacious, clean apartments and lovely staff. Prices are bound to go up, so I would say book now! Cannot wait to go back next year, thank you so much guys for an amazing holiday :)

The albatros is conveniently located in the middle of Callao Salvaje, with ample conveniences in very close walking proximity (restaurants / bars / supermarkets). Our greeting was warm from Martin who provided great communication beforehand for our late check in. Room was very spacious with excellent self catering facilities and amazing sea view balcony with comfortable furniture. The pool area had ample sun beds with no irritating lounger-reserving behaviour which was appreciated! There was space all day every day. The place throughout is immaculate, staff are constantly cleaning which gives a continued high quality impression. Their supermarket downstairs gives 15% discount for guests with a huge selection of very reasonable ice cold drinks and ice creams :) Fantastic stay and not surprised to see all the reviews saying the same, we’ll be back next year. Just back from a couples long weekend break. Arrived late at night and was met by one of the owners (family run I believe). He kindly took us to our room where there was a complimentary bottle of wine and water. The apartment is fantastic, newly renovated, really spacious and the little extra for a sea view was worth it. The balcony is huge with table and chairs. It got the sun late afternoon, I'd personally have loved a lounger on it. Loads of hanging space for clothes and TV has Netflix options etc. TUI website says there is an iron but we couldn't find one. The whole complex is gorgeous and immaculate. The pool is great, you get a decent swim due to the shape. Really quiet and relaxing which we personally found perfect. There is a bit of work still going on but there was little noise. There is going to be a roof bar and sunbathing area, a restaurant and a clothes shop. There is a supermarket underneath which you get a discount at. As its only just reopened it wasn't busy so the owners allowed us to keep our room on till 6pm free of charge which was really appreciated, although once it's busy this obviously may not be an option for them. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely stay again, really close to all shops, restaurants and bars and the beach. And you can walk along the coast in playa paradise. Buses run into Los Christianos if you want to go further but we were surprised with how much was available in callao salvaje (we usually stay in las americas). I would defo recommend this as a place to stay.

On day 4 of holiday, this place is a little gem! Beautiful apartments all clean, fresh and look brand new, has everything for self catering. It’s very peaceful just what we like. Plenty restaurants bars etc only 1-2 min walk to them all. Could not fault absolutely delighted, would highly recommend sea view room well worth the extra money.
