This hotel is in an idyllic position right on a super beach with sunbeds available at 12€ per day . The hotel rooms are large and clean with lovely views over the beach and there it ends. The hotel is family run with the owner sitting in the restaurant shouting orders at the staff. We were half board the evening meal menu is all Greek food (nothing wrong with that we are in Greece) however on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday there is only one main meal if that doesn’t suit it’s salad or chips . Alternatively you can pay and select from restaurant menu. Breakfast can only be described as minimal continental with toast cold hard boiled eggs , sliced meat tea and coffee no rolls or plain bread. There is a small swimming pool which has mould around outside edges visible from the stairs to the beach. Reading previous reviews over 2-3 years all above criticisms have been mentioned before and nothing has been done. This hotel has vast potential and with present management replaced with a professional hotel management team would make a superb holiday destination for all nationalities.

This hotel is in a peaceful location on what must be the best sandy beach in Kefalonia. It is the only hotel on the wide beach although there is another hotel behind it but you are not aware of it. The rooms are spacious , airy and all have balconies or terraces facing the sea with direct access to the beach by walking over the lawns which have loungers and shady spots. Aircon is fitted to all rooms. It is a few minutes to Skala by car or taxi where you can find bars, shops etc. Too far to walk easily but we did it a few times. The manager, Georgia is a pleasure to deal with and very efficient. We have been a couple of times and would come again.
We think it has the potential to be one of the very best hotels due to its unique location, but there are some negatives which could be fixed: * Breakfast offering is very poor indeed. Guests were bringing in their own jars of coffee, cereals, fruit, juices etc. Watered down OJ is not nice. * We only had a couple of evening meals, there are much better tavernas in Skala. * The bathrooms need refurbishing - they are showing their age and the cheap plastic fittings could be replaced. We hope the owner sells the property and enjoys his retirement and allows an outfit with some resources and ideas to take it over and turn it into a really amazing, luxurious hotel.

A perfect place to rest, a really quiet corner in September (open from May 1 to October 10). Lots of English, some German, Austrian and Czech. During our week no Swiss, no French. The rooms are spacious, some are older than others. Cleaning is done every day by a friendly lady. Fridge, plates and services available (don't forget to take a kitchen linen). One of the only hotels directly on a sandy beach. A place that also protects turtles. Elsewhere it is often pebbles or you have to cross a road. Very basic breakfast, but you can buy products at the Super Point of Sale which belongs to the Pension. A little music could brighten up the restaurant. The dishes are simple, but good, definitely lack vegetables on their menu. Large parking available. Don't forget his bath towel. Sunbeds available on the lawn. By the sea, Inn rental costs EUR 12.00 for 1 umbrella and 2 deckchairs.

Hotel Marina Bay *** Skala - pay attention to rooms 106 and 107. According to clients who have been here several times, these rooms belonged to the staff, now the owners rent them to clients. The rooms do not have a balcony or a terrace, although the travel agency and the hotel advertise them with each room. The entrances are directly from the garden with a shelter only. Room 106 has a non-ventilated bathroom - it only ventilates the room and the hallway inside the building, black mold in the entire bathroom (even on the ceiling), there is no screen, water splashes everywhere. The garbage smells so bad that we had the front door open even at night, otherwise it was impossible to breathe in the room. The ventilation opening to the corridor is only covered by a grill, the smells from the kitchen and the cigarette smoke of the staff, who smoke everywhere, waft through it. White mold on the wall in the sleeping area. Furniture old, musty, dirty. When it rains, it leaks into the room from the pipes draining the water from the upstairs balconies. Food - breakfast all week one type of cheese and salami, Greek yogurt, muesli, toast, bun, egg, tomato, cucumber, fruit not once. For dinner, a choice from the menu every other day (CK advises daily). The staff, including the owner, sit, smoke, and you wait 40-50 minutes for your food. Beautiful place, well-kept garden with lots of sunbeds, sandy beach right below the hotel. It's a shame that the owners messed it up with these two rooms.

Firstly, I am only writing a review concerning the restaurant at Marina Bay Hotel (I was unable to find a separate listing for it). We spent a nice couple of hours using the sunbeds belonging to the hotel on Mounda beach (12 euros for a pair) and decided to go to the hotel restaurant for lunch afterwards. The seating area is quite pleasant, overlooking the pool and the beach. My daughter and I found a table and waited to be served. In spite of it not being particularly busy (the restaurant was just over half full), even though serving staff saw us we were ignored for maybe 15-20 minutes, to the point where we were ready to up and leave (there were other tables also waiting for service and grumbling) We were served at last and I ordered a greek salad, which was really nice, my daughter ordered a pork gyros, which was.... unusual - the meat itself was ok, but oddly, placed on a bed of cold sliced ham and mayonnaise. Possibly the oddest experience in 10+ visits to Kefalonia, Just not the level of friendliness and service that we are used to on this wonderful island.

We love this hotel and have been coming since 2006 . Rooms are large , clean and now that a shower screen has been installed even nicer . Rooms are cleaned daily and sheets and towels changed every couple of days . We love the family and always look forward to seeing them . The manager Georgia is always extremely accommodating to us and our family that now also come with their children . The restaurant in the past has not really been to our liking but this year with a new chef it is so much better . A lovely hidden gem .

Amazing little piece of heaven. Serene, picturesque and very relaxing. Every room is spacious and has an amazingly unbelievable view of the sea, sandy beach and the beautiful, natural, unspoilt gardens and surroundings.
Excellent location with fantastic staff who go above and beyond and are very welcoming. Rooms cleaned regularly with everything catered for on site. We couldn't have picked a better place if we'd tried.
A hire car is recommended as its outside of town and in a rural location.

Room was basic but clean and spacious. Shower needs attention, hand held and leaky. Lovely balcony with comfortable seating and table, great views overlooking the garden and beach. Very quiet location, peaceful and unspoilt. The biggest let down was the half-board, not very good. Breakfast was dreadful, the same everyday, cereals oats and cheap cornflakes. Greek yogurt. Toast, overcooked pieces of omelette, boiled eggs, cucumber & tomatoes, a plastic cheese & ham. Some haphazard pieces of plain sponge. This was it! Dinner wasn’t a lot better, our first night we had a very restricted menu, but at least a little choice, after that every night we were told what we could have eg. Stifado. Then they came back to say it was all gone! They could give us some gyro? It came with a few chips and a bit of pitta, not a bit of salad in sight. Asked for Greek salad and told it wasn’t available with dinner! This was at 7.45pm! We went to Skala the next few nights, only to try the restaurant again but this time only offered chicken and potatoes, which looked dreadful. There was no bar only the dining area and it closed for drinks at 10pm. As there are no local bars or tavernas nearby you had to pay for a taxi to go into Skala if you wanted to have a drink after dinner. Such a shame, if they improved the breakfast and dinner service, with somewhere to have a drink in the evening, and some music (tv permanently on in Greek with sound off) this would be a gem of a place!

The location of the hotel is fantastic. But that's all the positives. The food is a disaster. Breakfast at Greek standards 30 years ago. Toast, coffee that felt like it had been boiled three times, the cheapest sugar, orange juice, the cheapest sausage and cheese. Carelessly prepared. We had half board, which turned out to be a big mistake. Unimaginative menu that had nothing to do with Greek food. Frozen food, chips, pasta with unimaginative sauce. Rooms were OK, but the cleaning was very superficial. Traces of the previous occupant clearly visible. The hotel owner should not rest on the laurels of the hotel's great location.

We belonged to a Group of 13 and unfortunately did not enjoy one of the suites that most others had. Our room was in the Main building, very basic and not even a curtain around the shower! Nice balcony with seaview but no sun shade. Asked for assistance for the balcony at least 3 times but eventually gave up. Positive about breakfast was the daily availabilty of Hard boiled eggs, stodgy Joghurt and cereals. A young Lady controlled two toasters and secured ample supply. Otherwise no other forms of bread or rolls. Rating on scale of 1-10 is 3.
