Just returned home from 11 nights here , would book again as staff are really friendly and helpful. The only downside is no on site shop ( well there is a tiny shop but not for groceries etc). Hotel spotless, we are in here on a few evenings, very good choice of food and very reasonable price. Loved the pool area

I don't know how this hotel got 4 stars ! It is in a lovely location although a long way from restaurants, supermarket and our room overlooked the sea.The exterior of the rooms look lovely with all the different colours. The swimming pool is nice. Our room was nice and clean and the maid did a lovely job everyday (there was however, water left in the kettle when we arrived). Reception staff and barman were helpful and friendly. The bed was uncomfortable being just a mattress on top of a concrete base with wooden slats in the middle. The room had worn out broken bedside table with a really old radio under it. They provide shower gel/shampoo in ugly, unappealing wall dispensers. There is no clothes line on balcony to hang wet swimwear. They provide a kettle and cups but no tea, coffee, sugar. The nearest shop is a 40 minute round trip to walk so we asked the pool barman if we could have a little milk and he said no, We offered to pay for it and he said 'he would lose his job if he did this! Breakfast was terrible. Very little choice. You have to go round and round looking for plates etc. The choice of fresh fruit was apples, oranges and watermelon. There was a banana one morning. And don't be tempted to take anything out of the restaurant. I wanted to take an orange outside to eat in the sun and was actually shouted at and told I could'nt do that! One morning they had run out of orange juice at 9.00 . The shuttle bus is good as it is quite a walk into Skala but that stops at 7pm . Whereas all the other hotels keep their shuttle buses running in the evening. There was no entertainment at all while we were there. You also have to pay a room tax now. For a 4 star (which this definitely isn't),it is 3 euro per room per night. The gift shop is just a small area in reception that sells inflatables and a few souvenirs. We got a taxi back to airport which took 50 minutes and cost 55euros. Much better than the coach transfer which took over 2.5 hours to get there. Kefalonia is beautiful. It is unspoilt and natural. We have been many times. Skala is lovely. There are some really nice restaurants in Skala and our favourite was The Old Times which is a 15 minute walk from hotel. Was just so disappointed in this hotel. When you compare other 4 star hotels in the area this one really is no more than a 2 star.

We booked this hotel 4 weeks before departure, quite a transfer on the coach with the drop offs around 1.30 mins. So I’d recommend a car if your comfortable driving on kefalonias roads. We were greeted well at the reception and taken to our room via a golf cart along with our luggage. The porter was pleasant. The hotel/apartments are very brightly coloured on the outside with flowers and large fragrant bushes dotted all over the place. The room was what you’d expect. Double bed, dressing table, wardrobes, fridge, coffee and tea facilities although miniature coffees and sugars are to be purchased. Linen changed daily, towels changed when placed in the bath tub. In fact we noticed the cleaning staff everyday generally cleaning all walkways and steps around the grounds aswell as rooms. The door to the balcony had to be triple checked for locking as for whatever reason that lock was temperamental. However I always got it to lock and failing that there are outdoor shutters that local easily enough. Breakfast was ok I suppose- not great. But then again I’ve only ever experienced a brilliant breakfast in going abroad and that was in Majorca. There’s always something to eat wether it’s toast, with jam etc, cereal, fruit, pastries, eggs. I just made the best of what I could. There’s also salad for breakfast if you like it. The evening dinners were in my opinion fabulous, Lots of chicken dishes and lamb, Lamb kleftiko was brilliant. You could tell the chef put in a lot of effort and pride into the cooking and presentation. She’d always be there explaining what was in each dish as the food was always traditional Greek. I thought we might struggle with that but we always ate every night and ate well at that. The only slight negative would be that the food is not oven hot in the food stations. But still we enjoyed it. Kids in my opinion would struggle as unless they’ve eaten Greek recipes at home or will try different foods then you’ll have to eat out in the tavernas around Skala. The pool bar in the hotel was ok but not a massive selection of drinks or dishes. Also any lunch or drink purchases are added to your room number and you pay on checkout. We hired a car from greekstones in Skala and the hotel has its own parking grounds and whilst we were on honeymoon we made the most of not having our kids for the week and visited the capital Argostoli, antisammos beach which is a must along with 2 cave visits. Next to the car park is a stair way over a little wooden bridge and you arrive at a small cove with a white pebbles beach and crystal clear Ionian Sea water. We ventured down there with a can of beer each from the supermarket and bottled water and just relaxed. We’d definitely go back to Skala but the hotel is about a 35 min walk from the main tavernas and bars and shops. The hotel will ring you a taxi €5 or there is also a free shuttle bus but you have to let reception know in advance. I’d stay there again.

Well where to start! The rooms were very clean, most gorgeous sea view we were in room 201, incredibly friendly and most helpful staff i have ever experienced abroad. Nothing was any trouble, went above and behind to help us and the free shuttle bus to and from skala was a money and time saver. The pool is spacious and has the sun all day but the joy of shelter from it too if needed. The pool table, mini golf, park and table tennis was all ran well and included in the stay. Great place for families, couples and friends. We were a group of 4 ladies on a girls weekend. Already looking into coming back in the summer. Well done Stavros and your team.

It could have been ok unless a terrible incident with a WORM IN THE PLATE among food happened. The reaction of the chef was defensive, almost as if we were making things up and being drama queens. The chef is, regardless of her experinece, an arrogant woman unable to admit an mistake and the way she handled this incident was unacceptable! She was giving ridiculous excuses while a moment later they were all frantically searching for othwr worms!! We received ZERO COMPENSATION from the management (just a brief appology from the chef and a bottle of wine - are you serious!) and the hotel manager did not even come to us even though he was sitting at the table behind us. So let me use this opportunity to say that we are not idiots, this was extremely unprofessional from the hotel management and chief F&B and you can bet that we will not recommend this hotel to friends, colleagues and agencies that we come in touch with. We discourage everybody. Never again! It is a huge shame when the waiting staff and all other folks arw doing their best but the bosses cannot handle such an incident!
