A lovely location in the central street of Skala. Don’t let that put you off though as it’s so quiet. Rooms spotlessly clean, we were lucky enough to have the biggest balcony, free air con and free safe and a lovely comfy bed. Would give it 5 stars apart from a few things. There isn’t much storage like drawers for clothes and shelves. The shower is tiny and I mean tiny. If you are a larger person you simply won’t get in the shower. Personally I think they should make these areas walk in wet rooms which would solve the problem if this is possible. Lastly whilst the breakfast was very nice you can only have one cup of coffee or tea which was a little irritating. An extra drink means you have to pay for it. Slightly odd as everywhere else in Skala I have stayed you can have as many as you like with breakfast. Overall a nice stay but for a few pointers.

I’ll give the pro’s of this hotel first, the staff make this place, the two girls on the reception desk always had time for a chat and were always keen to help, the hotel was clean and tidy and in a great location, we had booked through Tui, who when we booked it last year online, were advertising breakfast at the Old Village Restaurant which is next to the Costa Azzura and also that there were free sun beds on a private part of the beach, they were 2 reasons why we booked this hotel, but on arrival we were told breakfast would be down the road at the Costa Azzura pool bar and not at the Old Village , the promise of the hot breakfast and lovely pictures of fruit and pastries that were advertised didn’t materialise, there was a choice of a continental breakfast, we told the girl on reception about our disappointment and by the Thursday of our second week she had talked with pool bar staff and they had started to have a few hot items added to the menu, the “hotel” is more of an apartment, the room we had 105 overlooked the bakery next door and the street , the balcony fits a small table and 2 chairs, there was no wardrobe as such only a rail, there was a lack of storage such as drawers, had to keep a lot of our clothes in our suitcase, could have done with some cupboards , now the bathroom was an experience, it didn’t have side enclosure’s as such, there were 2 glass panels but they were about 2ft on 2 sides and it was a hand held shower, the first few days we kept flooding the bathroom! But we returned back one afternoon and a shower curtain with 2 suction caps had been stuck on to the glass, it helped a little, but it just meant the curtain kept sticking to your body! Also on another occasion a kettle was added along with the nespresso machine that we already had.We did not see a Tui rep for the 2 weeks we were there, we had conversations through the tui app, we informed them that we weren’t having the breakfast and free sun beds as they were advertising, and we were told did we take a screenshot of our booking? We hadn’t, but I know there were other people staying who thought they had booked the same as us. The last day we asked how long we could keep the room for and we were told that we could keep it till 1pm, which was a great help, the tui app had told us we would be on bus 22 and would be picked up at 4pm, then we had another message saying it would be 4.05pm and bus 17, we killed time until 3.30 and went back to the hotel and a tui rep appeared! Told us we had to walk down to the square near the seafront as they had changed the pick up point, so off we go in the boiling heat dragging 2 cases over the cobbled roads, down to the square, the bus turned up 10 minutes late, they had gone as stated by the tui app to the hotel to pick us up! There were other people on the coach who were all in the same hotel and had different pick up points ! Anyway to sum up we had a lovely time in Skala, don’t think boutique when you read the literature, it’s a clean small apartment block, no pool, but you can use the one where you have your breakfast, would I go back? I think I would, but I wouldn’t book through Tui, I’d go directly to the hotel.

The rooms were amazing and very spacious. Our room had an upstairs as well so it tops it off with some space between the adult and the children. The decor is cozy yet professional and the room we stayed in was very clean.
The hotel had a restaurant next door which we ate at in the morning every day of our trip. We were also treated nicely by Meme, who was very kind and caring to us always. The food was amazing as well and had huge portions which would fill you up throughout the whole day.
The service when we first walked in was excellent. All the members of staff sitting at the desk were polite and very helpful. They gave us ideas of things to do and also told us information and history about the area we were staying in.
The location of the hotel was perfect! It was sat in the town near restaurants and shops. It wasn’t particularly busy around the hotel were the town was which made it easily accessible
Overall, my experience at the hotel was awesome and super fun. Also is in walking distance from the beach and I have made many memories from staying here.Highly recommended!

We spent a week here at the end of July. Great central location with pool, beach, bakery, supermarket and bars/restaurants within 5 minute walk. What you want in the hot weather.
Breakfast is out the main gate, turn right at a restaurant called The Old Village. When we were here they served 8.30am - 11am. The hotel WiFi works here so that will give you an idea how close it is. You order your food off a menu rather than eat buffet style. We sampled pancakes, porridge with fruits, Full English but there were plenty of other options including more Greek influenced dishes. Coffee was good but found it odd paying €3 extra each day for a large bottle of water to share.
Air conditioning good, shower gel and shampoo replenished in room. There is a LARGE refrigerator and corkscrew/bottle opener in room. Do NOT bring towels. They supply lovely large beach towels. Agree with others that the shower/shower curtain situation is interesting in the bathroom but that wouldn't put me off returning.
Although a bus transfer was included with Tui, I did treat ourselves to a taxi on arrival as could see we were the last drop off. Very glad as the roads are windy and we had a flight delay. Bus transfer back to airport was perhaps an hour and nice to be last pick up. Check on the Tui app for more info.
We used the pool at the Big Village Hotel, which sold drinks but not pool snacks. We also used their shower on departure day as we had a late flight. Not very glam but did the job. We preferred the beach - recommend heading more down to the right of the beach to Milos. Two sunbeds, umbrella and two waters for €10. We had lunch there most days too.
There is also a Skala Facebook group I joined which was useful as this was our first time to Kefalonia. Recommend Captain Vangelis cruises (we went to Zante and also did the sunset cruise) and the Kefalonia Wine Tour. Private tour with a trip into the mountains to sample the lovely wines (8 of them!) and enjoy a traditional Greek snack. Abit pricey but worth it.
Hope this helps in planning your holidays.

This was our first holiday in Kefalonia and we loved this small friendly hotel. Our room although small was very comfortable and cleaned daily, the little extra touches of robes, slippers, Nespresso machine (coffee tabs provided/replenished daily) was appreciated. The hotel location is perfect with the main strip with restaurants and bars directly outside. What really makes this hotel are the two friendly receptionists, Rania and Lena who go out of there way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. Thank you ladies, we look forward to returning to beautiful Skala and the Costa Azzurra Hotel.

We have just spent a week at the Costa Azzura and it was a really great stay. The hotel itself was clean and tidy and the room was a good size. It has a very modern design-white and grey-and the room included a Nespresso machine. The staff, particularly Gregoria, who was so attentive, helpful and kind. She was happy to help in any way she could with any issue. For example; printing off documents, or supplying an alternative breakfast pack in the event of an early start. Speaking of breakfast, it is vey good, and part of the cost. You have it at the taverna next to the hotel entrance. Where there is a large choice: from honey and yogurt to cooked breakfasts. I would thoroughly recommend the Costa Azzura as a place to stay in Skala.

What a lovely small personal hotel this is with the most fabulous reception ladies Rania & Lena always helpful & smiley. This was our first visit to Skala & our choice of hotel could not have been better ideally positioned with everything you will need on the doorstop. Our room was cleaned everyday & coffee pods replaced by cheerful cleaning ladies. Breakfast is a short walk down the street & seved at the back of the Big Village hotel which is a continental breakfast but you can pay for a full English if you would rather, hope to return to Costa Azzurra one day

This hotel is in a brilliant location on the main pedestrianised street, and is a perfect base. Despite being fairly central, we had a quiet night's sleep every night. There was a lovely bakery nextdoor where we grabbed baguettes for lunch, the supermarket was very close and a huge choice for breakfast was in the taverna nextdoor. We had everything we wanted, air con, large fridge, kitchenet with sink, kettle, coffee maker, crockery, cutlery; comfy bed, balcony, hair dryer, dressing gown, slippers, beach towels, daily maid service.
However, the showers are so tiny you can barely move in them and some of the shower drains are partially blocked, probably with hair as the sinks and toilet were fine. Nothing was done about it. Ours was so awful that it stank and we couldn't shower properly. The lovely aspects of this hotel for me do not make up for not being able to shower properly and I wouldn't go back.

Gelato, the beach, shopping, delicious restaurant choices, stray kittens and iconic views - all as you step outside the entrance to this hotel. Costa Azzurra is the perfect location to take in all Skala has to offer, while providing a comfortable, clean and friendly place as your home base. The beds were very comfortable, the loft gave our kids extra space and the little patio was perfect for early morning nespresso and views.
The staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort, provide local info and even helped return items we accidentally left behind.
Would stay here again. Everything was immaculately clean and recently updated.

The hotel is tucked away on the ‘strip’ of Skala with a wide selection of bars and restaurants (and cats) at your doorstep. The hotel isn’t far away from a self contained flat, with breakfast served next door. Limited reception so you have a code to enter property. Room is pleasant and hotel is very clean. Room had a fridge, kettle and cups included. Shower is tiny as only real complaint. If you want access to everything, including Skala beach which is a generous 10 mins walk down a slope past shops and bars this is the one. We spent a few evenings on balcony and there are several supermarkets close by for water, alcohol, snacks etc as the hotel has no other facilities. It was perfect for us who didn’t want an all inclusive and wanted to sample local restaurants. Added some photos from the street outside
