After a day's travel from Tuxtla along roads with hundreds, yes hundreds of speed humps, land slides, pot holes, gravel tracks and through a torrential night-time thunderstorm, we went straight to bed. We were awoken next morning by howler monkeys and the tropical dawn chorus. The stars of the show here are the free-flying macaws and myriad hummingbirds in the... More

Since my last review we received our credit card statement and were charged 2 extra days 2 charges each night we were there, over $3300 Pesos. We have contacted Las Guacamayas and they keep telling us they are looking into it we have spent over 3 hours on the phone with them and our Mexican Bank who our credit card... More

After a long drive we arrived at Las Guacamayas in the late afternoon. Right away we could enjoy nature at its finest. We upgraded to a private king size room along the river which was well worth the extra price, the setting was beautiful we were going to spend one night but after the first night we decided to spend... What's not to like. Grounds are impeccable; exotic flowers in their natural state as well as beautiful flower arrangements located in public areas around the property. Picturesque to say the least. We were fortunate to stay in a cabana overlooking the river. Accommodation is beautiful. In the early morning and late evening, howler and spider monkeys in the canopy of... More

I won't even try to describe the incredible experience that Las Guacamayas is. I'm just going to say that if you're into ecotourism, it is a must in your bucket list. Located at the border of the Lacandon Jungle, it gives you an incredible insight of the wonderful biodiversity of this ecosystem. Enjoy hiking through the jungle, rowing in the... More

I loved this place - it is hard to get here, to be sure, due to the rainy season the road has many potholes and takes a long time, but it's well worth it. So well designed, quite charming bungalows on stilts and delightful pathways with canopies of vines, and right on the wide Lacuntun River. There is a colony... More

We drove 4 hours from Comitan to this remote lodge. It is a communally operated business and is very well run. The grounds are spotless and they even have a pet agouti that runs around smelling everyone's bags and greeting you in the morning. The location is perfect for nature lovers. We had spider monkeys and howler monkeys all around... More

This place is in the middle of a huge natural reserve and that is about the best thing I can say about it. As far as exploring the jungle and being surrounded by nature, there are so many places much more worth the trip. First, this place is located on a road that has not been maintained in forever, with... More

We had a good one-night stay at Las Guacamayas. The hotel infrastructure is amazing. Bungalow was clean and pretty comfy. Food was good at the restaurant. We took the jungle trekk and the boat trip which were both great excursions with a good qualified guide: Tomas. On the other hand, hotel reception and restaurant staff was neither helpful nor nice.
