Simply put, this hotel is not worth it’s Relais & Chateaux status and is definitely not a 5 star establishment. Let me give you some specific examples. When checking in we got very quickly walked to our room without telling us anything about the property, breakfast, the facilities, etc. We had to find out ourselves where breakfast was y wondering around and what time it ended, availability of newspapers, etc. We booked a suite, room number 202. It is advertised as having a separate seating area and often a sofa bed. All I can say, don’t waste your money on a suite here if you absolutely have to stay here. Our seating area was literally a corridor / entrance to the room next to a bathroom entrance with no sofa (just two awkwardly placed armchairs and a small table), no windows, no TV. I have included a photo. Next was the temperature in the room and this has been mentioned in other reviews. In the middle of the night it would become unbearably hot and still and temperature controls in the room do absolutely nothing to change it. Best you can do is keep opening and closing the balcony door to naturally regulate the temperature. The hotel markets itself as a luxury 19th century villa. Granted, it’s common areas are nice, but rooms are dated to the point of showing some serious wear and breakages with strong flavour of no updates since 1980s. In our room carpet was ripped, doors chipped, shower rusty with bits literally falling off. I have included photos. Breakfast is 28 euros per person (for basic buffet offering) and extra 12 to 15 euros if you want properly cooked eggs rather than runny slosh which they say is scrambled eggs available as part of the main breakfast offering. WiFi was literally off in our part of the hotel. I asked the staff on the first day about it politely explaining that it works in the restaurant & common areas but not in our room. Was told that there are no problems in the hotel with internet and I should try again. Next day same problem, this time my husband was a little more forceful. Surprise, surprise, wifi signal appeared 5 minutes after our second complaint but still no acknowledgement that they simply refuse to switch on all routers at the furthest end of the property hoping that you will never ask. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this property for a five star luxury escape that it markets itself to be. Plenty of other much better offerings at that price point with better quality of accomodation, better food and definitely much more superior service.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for spending the time to share your experience. I was upset to read that on this occasion we did not live up to our reputation and high standard. It is of course our standard to explain all facilities of the hotel to our guests when they arrive. I am sorry that on this occasion we did not do this. I have spoken to the team at the reception to better understand the reasons why. Our Junior suites do indeed have a seperate living area. All of our rooms are completely different in terms of decor and design, some fearure a sofa whilst others feature armchairs, however in all the junior suites have the relaxation area seperate from the bedroom I am sorry that the room assigned was not to your taste. With regards to the temperature of the room, the system is automaticaly set to 22oC which auto-regolates itself to maintain a constant temperature. It would have been our pleasure to lower this for you from the computer system, I am sorry it caused discomfort to you. With regards to the rooms, the hotel is undgoes a constant maintance program throught the year, Thank you for sharing the images, we have immediately taken action to resolve the issues highlighted I am sorry the breakfast buffet was not to your liking; it is normally a popular choice offering a vast continetal selection. We offer scrambled eggs at the buffet for our guests who have limited time to enjoy their breakfast. I would like to personally apologize that you were not taken seriously when you highlighted the problem with the internet. Wifi is complimenary for all our guests across the hotel at all hours of the day. Wifi is fundemental for all travelers in moden times and I apologize it was not working upon your arrival I would like to have the possibility to discuss in detail the issues raised and apologize personaly. I invite you to contact me directly in the hotel or reach out by email James Parry j.parry@albereta.it +390307760550 Best regards, James

L’Albereta is one of those places that usually just exists in your mind. Elegant, graceful, perfectly appointed, well trained staff that feels it’s their God given calling to please you. The hotel is a villa that has been wonderfully modernized while still keeping the patina of its heritage. Food is exceptional, spa is otherworldly, grounds are impeccable, and again, staff is what you dream of. Take me back — anytime.

Beautiful country hotel, sophisticated, slightly formal and quiet. I can't imagine children running around this place, although in the summer it might be different as it has enormous outside entertaining and dining areas. Elegant reception rooms, bar etc., also the dining room though this is very formal. It has windows into the kitchen which is fun. Rooms are smart but very comfortable. Helpful and friendly staff though the whole place feels quite stiff.

Dear guest, it is a pleasure for us to receive your review, thank you for taking the time for writing it. L’Albereta is about 1 hour from Milan, perfect to be next to the town but in a relaxing place, the ideal starting point for tailor-made itineraries to discover a different side of Italy, far away from traditional routes. It is a pleasure to learn that you really enjoyed our resort. We look forward to welcoming you again, maybe in Spring, so you will be able to enjoy the many activities that Franciacorta and Lake Iseo offer. Best wishes, The Management
