Stayed in the Villa Belvedere for two nights in May. It's a beautiful hotel right on the shore of Lake Como in the tiny village of Argegno (a much quieter spot than the likes of Bellagio or Varenna). Location is great for exploring the village, taking the cable car up to Pigra, renting a boat, or taking a ferry (passengers...

Our 2-day stay was amazing. Upon arrival, we were warmly received and guided through the hotel. The room was cosy-compact with a nice view on the lake. Very small bathroom, but very clean – which is more important. The dinner area has an amazing panoramic view on the lake... You'll want to stay in at least once, if not for...

My partner and I visited Lake Como for a 5 night stay to look at wedding venues. We booked an apartment close by to the Villa Belvedere. Needles to say we actually stayed here on our last night as we are hoping to have our wedding here. This was the first venue which we viewed and Jean-Cristoph set the bar....

My wife and I have stayed at the Belvedere, on a number of occasions the first being in August of 1996. Those who have visited before a change in ownership will recognize why I used of the term "Wee". We had not stayed there, however, since ownership changed. The new owners have made a number of changes, particularly to the...

We booked a room through booking.com and prepaid. We were aware that the terms of our booking did not guarantee refund or a change of dates. Unfortunately our plans had to change and we contacted the hotel directly to see if they could change our date. Management was very sympathetic and immediately assisted us in changing our date. When we...

We arrived late in the afternoon on a bitterly cold January day and received a lovely greeting. They offered us a family room on the road side at a discounted rate with free parking in their parking area off the road. It was quite basic, but just what we needed, with a double bed and two separate single beds for...

First impressions weren't exactly great, ok but the carpets on the stairs have seen better days and the room was functional and clean but not what we'd call luxurious. However the location was unbeatable, the staff enormously helpful and the food, erm, out of this world doesn't do it justice. We stayed New Years Eve and the following day/evening and...

We booked the double room with balcony and sea view, it was well worth it. It was set apart from the main building, very private, and although the weather was cold and raining, the view of the Lake from the room was just magnificent. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Jean.Christophe who helped us with bus timetables and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It is set among blue waters and colourful mountainsHotel Villa Belvedere stands there as if seeking to dominate the lake, like a prima donna on show in all her beauty at a point were a number of pleasing landscapes meet in a play of colours that change and develop over the course of the day. It is set among blue waters whose movement creates shifts in colour that transform the nature that surrounds them. In its own inimitable style plays host to its guests in what seems like its own microcosm of refined hospitality. The RoomsThe bedrooms are little oases of culture within which guests can breathe in the typical atmosphere associated with literary coffee culture. The 18 bedrooms are a perfect synthesis of those features that go to make up refined elegance. Some of them have been completely renewed while others retain the clear mark of history. These are the ideal nest for lovers of the lake, with those perched above the water enjoying views of a constantly changing landscape with the rising of the sun, the shifting colours and the arrival of night and its discreet sparkling lights. For those who love the mountains, some of the rooms provide fine views of the verdant peaks of Valle d’Intelvi. There are also sophisticated family rooms with triple rooms and rooms with four beds. The RestaurantThere is a whole lot that is new here and a menu that also brings back the fine wine and cuisine of the area. There are some truly superlative dishes created using essentially simple combinations. The menu has both fish and meat for dishes that are innovative without straying outside the traditions of Italian cooking and the excellence of Mediterranean culture. For those who love sunsets and evenings on the shores of the lake there is also a bar that offers both aperitifs and after dinner drinks, with a range of specialist spirits available. In the summer guests can take lunch or dine in the evenings outdoors on the terrace that overlooks the lake with its delightful views. ... more   less
