It was very nice and with all the amenities. Nice pools, beautiful beach and lake view. The restaurant was a bit expensive but the food was worth it, it was delicious. Remo at the reception was very friendly. The cherry on the top was the Cervezas Pacífico on the super market and the mexican style chorizo.

Pitch 144, right on the front with a view to savour. Not cheap in May - £60 per day (CHF 79) and rises to CHF 111 in August...but worth it if the weather is kind. Services top rate. Pitches compact and you can feel crowded if your neighbour has a 12 tonne Morelo. Convenient for cycle track (flat and to Ascona) and there’s a supermarket/ Coop centre about a mile away. Golf is around CHF 120 at Ascona. Visitors with handicaps welcome. Will return.

We found this site on line, called them from Austria, To check if they had space for caravan for the coming week. Advised by reception, No problems plenty of space with hook up & water. " just turn up" I Asked to book it & was told could not as not Company policy. "Just turn up". We arrived on site less than 24 hours later. What a disappointment. The place was full to the top. Reception gave us a choice. Take one pitch for 3 nights and then move to another pitch for 4 nights. So Off we went with site map in hand to take a look. The pitches are far too small. Only around 1.5 meters between units. The access was terrible. ( if you have a mid to large caravan without a mover, forget it). Taken the 1st pitch would mean running EHC over the entrance road & water was no go for hook up. We noticed other people with a site map in hand walking around looking at the same pitch numbers we were. They were told same story. " plenty of space just turn up" Needless to say we did not stay, nor did others we seen. It may have 5 star rating by ticking all the " we have " boxes and the photos may look terrific. But what the point if it's so full and every one is shoe horned in that you can relax. It is a holiday after all. We have stayed on absolute top rated 5* sites in Switzerland, Austria & more. While I do agree the site is nice. It's just not worth the money. What really let it down for us was the fact all they care about is packing you in to make more money. We and others had traveled a long way to get there. Very false.

We really enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights on our way to Italy. We had pitch 161 on the beach and the view was amazing. First night we had pizza in the campsite restaurant which was tasty and BBQ'd the other nights. Toilet bloc nice and clean, two playparcs and 2 pools as well as the lake. There is a coop supermarket 10 mins walk away and the little shop on site had essentials. The reception printed off tourist cards that gave us free bus travel and 30% off the cable car up the mountain in Locarno - the view from up there was amazing too! We liked it so much we're staying on the way home. Pitch 157 (I think this is the best pitch!). Only downside is it is expensive compared to uk sites - but to be honest for the view and the pool it is worth it!

Despite the warm welcoming, we immediately were disappointed by the close quarters of the campground. All of the lots were practically on top of each other and there was absolutely no privacy. Due to the fact that everybody was so close to one another, it was near impossible for my group to sleep due to other campers who were awake until the early hours of the morning. Although we appreciated the amenities and the cleanliness, it was not worth the $100+ we spent for three people. Since August is peak vacation time, we would not recommend going there due to the large crowds of families. Staff was friendly, but over all it was a poor experience.

Took the teenagers to this campground to kayak, paddle board and swim for the day. This camp ground is incredible and I wish we camped there. The price to kayak or paddle board is 15 Franks a person per hour. We had a great time and would camp there in the future if we were closer.

This is a lovely, clean and cozy camping! The location is really really beautifull and you can find all you need: a clean pool we enjoyed very much even if the weather was not so hot, a beach with sand, wich we dind't expect and was beautiful to have, a very nice restaurant and a friendly staff. We had some problems with our pitch, but the reception staff was really nice and they showed a very good problem solving capacity, so we can't complain: we were treated very well. They really care for their guests and that's really important when you are a traveler! The landscape was amazing: not the best camping on a lake we visited, but one of them! We really enjoyed spending time on the beach or walking in the green and also the campsite was very quite: perfect to have some relax and some good sleep during the night. The guard staff made us feel very safe: they were kind and they showed up a lot to check if everything was alright. Shower and toilet facilities were clean (swiss-clean :D ) and we found them really comfy; they were a little bit far away from our pitch, but that's not really a 'fault' of the camping, nor we would complain about that. It's not a cheap camping, but you receive for what you pay and this is really honest; we would come back if we'll have the occasion to.

I arrived after the reception had officially closed, but the person behind the desk still helped me out and sorted out a spot for my VWt5 California Beach. The campsite is well organised that the facilities were clean. Although (again) I was too late for dinner at the restaurant the pleasant staff still fixed me up with a nice pizza. There is a notice board for late arrivals with available places. You can simple pitch your tent and register next day. I payed 69 CHF for a night (shower/electricity included) Take a EURO plug (blue three pins) see here for more information (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_60309#Blue_P.2BN.2BE.2C_6h) One night stay is not a problem, unlike some of the neighbouring campsite were (with a van) you have to stay a minimum of two nights.

Miralago Campsite - Tenero-Contra, Lake Maggiore Switzerland We stayed at this campsite for 5 days in August 2013; our first camping visit to Switzerland as part of a 3 week West Europe tour. We arrived without booking and received a very warm welcome. Staff speak fluent English, French, German and Italian (not sure about Dutch). The site has a number of permanent caravans, is popular with motorhomes and has pitches large enough for car + family tent. Pitch prices depend on location (essentially distance from the beach). We paid for the top price pitch (about £70 per night), which gave us plenty of space for a VW Campervan + family tent and electric hookup right on the beach. Cheaper pitches go down to about half that price. A possible down-side for some is that you do not get the luxuriant grass pitches you sometime get in UK. Our pitch was a pattern of concrete shapes with compact sand in between, so that camper vans were on hard standing but tent pegs could still be hammered in firmly. It does mean that if you only have a thin mattress in your tent and no camp-bed, it will be a bit hard. We have 3in Thermarest Luxury mattresses and so slept on the ground in the tent as well as at home. There is a lovely, and very clean, swimming pool, with baby pool and a lifeguard, and a small children's play area. The whole place felt very safe and we had no qualms about our 4 and 6 year old daughters going off on their scooters. The beach is soft sand with a view looking south down Lake Maggiore, with Caribbean-style thatched sunshades to sit beneath. The view, beach and lake are certainly as good as our honeymoon in an all-in beach-front villa in St Lucia. Truly that good. About 50 yards offshore, inside a buoyed-off swimming area there is a permanent floating raft about 20 yards square to swim to and sunbathe. Getting to the raft was also a good challenge for some of the younger swimmers. The pool lifeguard also patrols in a canoe if the raft becomes particularly popular. The whole campsite is Swiss-clean with staff raking the beach early (but silently) each morning, the loos and showers cleaned frequently during the day, with loo paper, hand towels, soap always available. The shop has fresh bread, French croissants, German rolls, and Italian ciabatti etc each morning, with no need to order, and a small but well-chosen stock of food and drink. They accept both Swiss francs and Euro's giving change in either if available. The staff could not be more helpful. There is a small bar, and larger restaurant on site which does a selection of Italian/Swiss food, particularly pizza, and one or two local delicacies such as fish from the lake. It is reasonably priced rather than cheap. I do not think the site puts on any kind of entertainment, leaving that to other sites in the area. Within 10 minutes cycle ride inland there is a small shopping complex with a good supermarket and one or two other shops, all of which is closed all day Sunday, as appears to be the rule in Switzerland. The site is also only about 15 minutes drive from the Italian border, with no border formalities we saw, so you almost get two countries for the price of one. In 40 years of UK and continental camping, this site is by some margin the best I have visited. We certainly did have a marvellous time, with a view to die for. Next year’s tour will certainly include the site again if at all possible.
