We've now visited Ill Gabbiano twice and are super happy. It's a small resort (max 50 units) which has beautiful landscaping. The apartments and bungalows are scattered along the park and are all in different colours, so pretty. Last year we stayed in one of their small 1 bedroom apartments. Small, really means small. These units are only suitable for 2 adults and a small child still sleeping in a baby cot. Otherwise it really gets too cramped. This year we stayed in one of the villas with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, so nice!!! We even had are own garden with BBQ. So relaxing. The resort has 2 pools, 1 with 2 slides which is more suitable for the kids. The other pool is more quiet. There is a small kids club team. In the mornings they do arts and crafts and at the end of the afternoon sports/games and mini disco. Sometimes there's also an evening activity. The team speaks Dutch, German and English. The restaurant has wonderful staff, the speak multiple languages. The menu is definitely not overpriced (actually quite cheap), most dishes are yummie and there is a special Kids Menu for only EUR 8 incl drink and dessert. Only drawback: there are mosquitos...then again, they are everywhere near Lake Garda :-(

The place is large and the gardens are very well maintained, which gives a pleasant holiday feeling. The personnel is very friendly and they speak Dutch, German and Italian. There are two swimming pools with glides that are regularly cleaned, and together with the animation team this makes it a great place for families with young kids. The restaurant is very friendly to families as well; they don't give you weird eyes if you want to have dinner around 1800 hrs and the food is good and well prepared. The menu is quite extended for a resort. There are only minor drawbacks, but worth mentioning. There is a small farm nearby, where the dog(s) are caged. Obviously, they are barking, especially in the (very) early mornings which is annoying. Also be aware that the electricity is separately charged, which is quite awkward for eastern European standards and the given prices for the accommodation. Similar to the wifi; if you want to have something decent, you pay per account (=apparatus) per day a few euros, which is not corresponding to the year 2018 if you ask me.

We stayed here during our May break and we booked an appartment. The estate also has several bungalows which looked very nice. This first dissapointment was at arrival, I am in Italy on holiday and they speak to me in Dutch at the reception...... Many dutch stayed here during this week, so it almost felt like we were not on holiday at all, but in a Dutch enclave in Italy. If that is your preference of going on holiday, then you have found paradise at Il Gabbiano, it is perfect We normally try to get away from it..... The estate is gorgeous, beauitiful trees, well maintained, good looking buildings. Location is on the west side of the lake, about 30 minutes from the A4 high way. We though it was very good as it is still quiet, and close enough to explore the area. The restaurant is dissapointing, we ate here once, and that was enough. The quality does not match up with the pricing and the general feel of the place. It looks wonderfull though. They managed to ruin a pizza, which tasted like card board, in Italy..... Pff..... Facilities are great, with wonderful pools indoor and outdoor, nice animation team. Although the hours of animation start are abit strange as it could kill your entire day. Our appartment was very very basic and very small. It was rented to us for 2 adults and a child, but in real life it is not suited for this. So be aware of this when you book a room. Our daughter had to sleep on the sleeping couch, which is fine, but it is occupieying the entire "living room". So not ideal to say the least and definitely not if you have planned to stay for a week. Bedroom very small, you hit the walls every time when you get out of bed. The building where we stayed in is split in 2 levels, so depending who your neighbours are you could be in for a treat. We had onces that were quite noisy up to late at night, and you could here them walking and talking thoughout the evening. Better sound insulation is highly recommendable. It is paradise if you want to be among the dutch in a dutch enclave, but its not our cup of tea. So mixed feelings, beaitful place, but we most likely will not return

The perfect place for families with young children. Children are a priority here, from safety to entertainment, facilities like 3 different playgrounds, three pools, and speed limit of traffic, animal farm, and perfect landscape. Apartments are packed with anything you would need for a family stay including washing machine and dish washer. And above all patience and friendliness of staff. Just perfect! Would love to return here.
