Auberge Du Vin is a maximum 3.5 star hotel. It should be re-branded as a standard Marriott or Marriot Courtyard. It’s nothing like other Auberge’s elsewhere in the world. Everything about this hotel (service, food, luxury, design, amenities, location, bed/pillows, comfort is 3 star). WiFi is nonexistent in the room and mediocre in the hotel lobby at best. Phone service is very spotty. The location is way off the beaten path compared to other hotels in the region. You can expect to drive a minimum of 30 minutes and in many cases one hour (and a portion of this drive is on a long dirt road) to go to wineries and restaurants. We came here specifically because it was the only hotel in the region next to a golf course (the hotel website says there’s golf on property). Upon arrival, we were told the golf course had been closed for two years! I’m not sure why they haven’t updated their website? This was a huge disappointment and simply false advertising by the hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly, and we appreciate their great service (especially the breakfast staff and the front desk). If you’re looking for an affordable hotel in the beautiful Mendoza region, this hotel is a good option for you. If you’re looking for five star luxury you are certainly better off at one of the other hotels in the area.

Dear Jeremy: Thank you so much for all your comments. Regarding the golf course, in all the pages say that it is under maintainance , bu we have already communicated with the website to verify and update that information. Thank you very much for highlighting the attention of our staff, we really appreciate it. We hope you have a wonderful day!

We had high expectations of Auberge du Vin when we booked due to the pictures on web. However, our stay there (for 2 nights only, thanks God!!!) was horrible. The Hotel facilities is quite old... needs an urgent remodeling all over the place. Our bedroom was very old, the fireplace didn't work well, we had to open the doors to let the smoke go away... it immediately called the attention of the front desk receptionists as the smoke got there... so you can imagine how much smoe we had.... in addition, for one and half days I couldn't have a hot shower... there was an issue with the heating system. So, it was a stay to forget... it is a shame because the landscape where the hotel is located is nice, but there is an urgent need of investments there if they really want to be a nice hotel... last but not least, the receptionists are not really friendly... we had these issues and they didnt really care much about it... it looks like they are not worried about your experience at all... thanks God we had planned to move to another place (much nicer, by the way) for the remaining 3 nights. So, I do not recommend this place at all...

This property is very very secluded - down a long dirt road in the middle of a vineyard. The property wasn't maintained to the standards that we are used to with Marriott, but we had a great room with a view on the large vineyard. The breakfast was sufficient. Staff was friendly.

We felt the management abandoned the hotel. I've stayed there for 5 nights expecting a place to retreat from the city and relax during Christmas time, but we were disappointed with the outcome. The hotel is indeed a place to relax, but they will not deliver what you paid for it. You are paying a premium for a Marriot brand called "Tribute Portfolio Hotel", but you get an average countryside hotel (we paid USD 200/night for a room with mountain view, but there is a building very close to your room and in the middle of the view). What I mean is that you won't feel you are in a boutique hotel because the service provided is terrible and the place is deteriorating. The sofa and chair cushions are torn because they are old and were never replaced. You find them everywhere: in your private terrace, on the public terrace and around the pool area. Also, you will see cracks in the walls in most of the places. The public terrace, which should be a place to enjoy the vineyard view, is also abandoned. We even had to ask them to put the curtains in the daybed to make it looks better, but they did only once. The concierge helped us during the trip, but they offered a cheap and low-standards transfer and made a huge mistake during the most important day for us when we visited Clos de Los Siete. We ended up not being able to do the entire agenda scheduled with them because we arrived late and in the wrong place. The food is delicious, but the service not. You will need to constantly follow up on your requests and ask for the most basic stuff such as napkins. Our impression was that they are understaffed and, therefore, can't service all the guests properly. To make things worse, the hotel offered a 3-course Christmas dinner with wine pairing. However, it felt they had to save wine and were offering one glass per course with as much as 100ml. Please remember this hotel is near wineries and you will be making wine tastings everyday, you will receive a service in the wineries that will be way better than the one offered by the hotel. It is such a shame because we had a huge expectation around it created by pictures and the price paid, but we left hugely disappointed. We stayed in an Airbnb later in the city and we all felt better there than in the hotel. We definitely are not looking forward to staying in a hotel from the Marriot brand ever again.

Response from AubergeTRB, Front Office Manager at Auberge du Vin, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Tupungato

Dear Renato, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Auberge du Vin, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Tupungato and providing your honest feedback. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the appropriate hotel team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place to improve our service. As a matter of fact, we are renovating big part of our hotel to make it more comfortable to our guests. I'd like to make a small clarification regarding the issue with the driver. We are deeply sorry that you missed the tour but as it was explained at the hotel, the driver got the wrong directions from the guard at the winery not from the receptionist. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and we hope to serve you again whenever your travels bring you back to Tupungato. Best regards. Florencia Longo Front Desk Manager

The hotel is in a nice area and the people are pleasant as everyone around the area. What concerns « gym » , it should not exist, as the machines are worn out, the bicycles have the seats torn, pedals are missing the straps and no batteries in the electronic panel. Not professional machines. Not to mention the location, inside the covered pool area, humid and stincky due to the bathrooms. The upper terrace should be a nice place to relax, but due to the filthy conditions it is not attractive. Pillows are torn and beds are dirty and old, humid marks all over. A pitty for such a nice place .

Several of the other reviews are spot on — this hotel has a lot of highlights, but is in need of updating. The pros: location (seems to be one of the best options in the Uco Valley so you don’t have to drive down from Mendoza) surrounded by several vineyards that you can walk through, food at the restaurant was excellent, free breakfast, fantastic hospitality and service from the staff, large well maintained rooms. The main con is that the exterior grounds of the hotel need updating. The pool furniture is tired and there is paint peeling in certain places. It didn’t materially impact our stay, but some capital investment would take this place from good to great. This photo is taken directly outside of our hotel room.

I booked this hotel online through Bonvoy as it is part of the Marriott hotel family. Booking was simple and our stay was for 4 nights while we toured the Uco Valley area. We booked a twin deluxe room. Location: The hotel is remote - literally in the middle of a vineyard and down a long windy dirt road (many of the secondary roads in the area are not paved) however there are flags to mark the route. The nearest town is only a 15 minute drive and there are plenty of restaurants etc. The hotel does have its own restaurant on site. We had complimentary breakfast (included with the room) at the hotel restaurant. The hotel also packed us a breakfast to go on our departure day as we had to leave very early. The breakfasts were buffet and were ample. I believe one could order egg dishes a la carte. The room was very spacious. The room was divided by a long dresser and a sofa which backed onto the dresser. This created a sitting and sleeping area. There was also a desk and a couple of hanging closets and drawers. The lighting in the room was plentiful and there were ceiling to floor windows all along one wall which faced onto a small patio and the vineyard. We were on the ground floor. The bathroom was also large with a walk in shower. The amenities - there was an outdoor/indoor pool which I did not see anyone using - it was still cool. There was a small gym and a laundry room which we took advantage of to do a couple loads of laundry - for free! There is a large roof top patio which was just a few flights up from our room. We were up early on morning and took advantage of the great view from the patio to watch the sun come up and shine over the Andes. Amazing!! The service was very good at this hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. One of the staff worked with us prior to our arrival to set up all of our various wine tours and tastings! Communication was excellent and we appreciated her assistance greatly! Bottom line - Yes I would stay here again when in the Uco Valley area. I noticed there were some rooms which bordered the parking lot - not ideal locations - so best rooms are on the upper floors or like we had.... ground floor but at the back or north side of the hotel.

We spent two nights at the Auberge Du Vin in late November while exploring wine in the Uco Valley. The hotel is 4 kilometers down a dirt/rock road. The remoteness provides a tranquil stay but without a car, limits your dining experiences. Our room overlooked the wine vines with a small table outside on the sloped grass. Rooms are large with a nice sitting area. Not sure about the kitchen facilities as it does not come across as a place people cook their own meals. Nice bathroom with a wonderful shower. Not all rooms have a vineyard view Food in the dining room was good and the breakfast buffet was nicely done with cooked to order options available. Small heated pool and fitness room located in the courtyard of the hotel. Staff was very helpful especially the front desk staff. Happy to assist with questions, call to confirm reservations and provide information on the area. The property does need some attention to details. Outside our room there was water damage to the wall. The cushions and drapes on the upper deck are in serious need of being replaced. Curtains in our room would repeatedly get stuck trying to open/close. Our wine tour was set up by Cynthia at Visit Uco Valley. She did a great job of setting up three wineries including lunch at the third, Monteviejo. Driver spoke limited English but was from the area and new the wineries. During the day Cynthia repeated contacted us to ensure everything was ok. Also, her cost was far more reasonable than drivers from Mendoza. Overall a relaxing time in the Uco Valley at a comfortable hotel.

It should be terrific, but it's not. For everything that works, there's something that doesn't; it depends on your priorities. The isolation is both a plus and a minus; the peace and quiet of the location is wonderful, but the trek in and out is too long and dusty. With nothing else nearby, the drive to dinner or other vineyards, takes a very long time and after two or three days it becomes very tedious. The girls who run this place are top drawer. They serve as concierge and oversee everything. But it doesn't feel like there's a manager present and oftentimes the hotel can't live up to its own high standard. The restaurant is a mixed bag with uninteresting wine availability (how is this possible in the middle of Mendoza???) and pedestrian food and lackluster service. Particularly galling was and incident in the dining room: our first three choices from the very small list wine list were available, The bottle the waiter suggested was awful. After one tasting, we asked to send it back for another selection. When the bill arrived, both bottles were on the tab, even though we sent one back. I pointed this out and asked why the first bottle was charged. I indicated that if I was paying for it I would take it back the first bottle to my room. The waiter had to retrieve it from the bar. where he told me they were going to sell it by the glass! In other words, charging for the same awful bottle, twice. Outrageous. And that's where the girls up front can't save the day. A manager should have been involved, immediately. For all these missteps to happen in the middle of wine country is particularly galling. And don't think you can order a cocktail in place of the wine, because it's almost the same price as your room rate! These are not small imperfections. It's a place I wanted to love, but couldn't. If they had a manger overseeing this property, everyone would be better served. Until then, buyer beware.
