We overall had a good stay, but feel as though there is definitely room for improvement at this hotel. As loyal Marriott Bonvoy members, we do not feel as though this hotel completely merits inclusion in the prestigious Bonvoy family of brands as it stands. The hotel itself is beautiful with large rooms in a scenic location, however it is very hard to get to from Mendoza. If we had it to do all over again, we would likely rent a car, because we ended up paying a lot of money for various transfers due to the property’s remote location. There was also some confusion with booking vineyards and cars. Upon landing in Mendoza after a delayed flight around 8:30 pm, our reserved car was nowhere to be found. Despite sending the hotel our flight information, we were informed that the driver brought others to the hotel. They did offer to send another car (which would have taken 2 hours to pick us up), and sent us a charcuterie board as an apology. We ended up taking a taxi, but felt as though it was the first of many miscommunications with the front desk. As we began our first full day at the property, we were told one of the tour reservations they had arranged for us four months in advance had been cancelled after they rushed us through breakfast in order for us to make the tour. When we went to lunch, we were brought to a vineyard we didn’t reserve (which ended up being great, but it wasn’t what we had booked) and told that there was another misunderstanding around our original reservation. This happened twice, which was upsetting because we were looking forward to specific vineyards. It felt as though the legwork we did to research and request vineyard reservations months in advance was completely disregarded for our trip. Finally the wi-fi everywhere on this property (including the lobby) is awful, which makes for a great place to unwind, but difficult to confirm reservations and travel plans. All that being said, the restaurant and bar are absolutely amazing. Everything at the hotel was clean and the staff were professional and attentive. It’s a great place to relax and unwind, but needs a little improvement to be a five star property.

This property is very very secluded - down a long dirt road in the middle of a vineyard. The property wasn't maintained to the standards that we are used to with Marriott, but we had a great room with a view on the large vineyard. The breakfast was sufficient. Staff was friendly.

This hotel is set near Tupangato in a desert area and surrounded by mountains and vineyards. It is one of the more spectacular tribute hotel locations in the collection. The restaurant has lovely outdoor or indoor areas. The pool is conveniently located in the same area. The rooms are largish with a mini kitchen and refrigerator. The staff is very helpful for what you need. We stayed here twice and were very pleased.

We felt the management abandoned the hotel. I've stayed there for 5 nights expecting a place to retreat from the city and relax during Christmas time, but we were disappointed with the outcome. The hotel is indeed a place to relax, but they will not deliver what you paid for it. You are paying a premium for a Marriot brand called "Tribute Portfolio Hotel", but you get an average countryside hotel (we paid USD 200/night for a room with mountain view, but there is a building very close to your room and in the middle of the view). What I mean is that you won't feel you are in a boutique hotel because the service provided is terrible and the place is deteriorating. The sofa and chair cushions are torn because they are old and were never replaced. You find them everywhere: in your private terrace, on the public terrace and around the pool area. Also, you will see cracks in the walls in most of the places. The public terrace, which should be a place to enjoy the vineyard view, is also abandoned. We even had to ask them to put the curtains in the daybed to make it looks better, but they did only once.

The concierge helped us during the trip, but they offered a cheap and low-standards transfer and made a huge mistake during the most important day for us when we visited Clos de Los Siete. We ended up not being able to do the entire agenda scheduled with them because we arrived late and in the wrong place.

The food is delicious, but the service not. You will need to constantly follow up on your requests and ask for the most basic stuff such as napkins. Our impression was that they are understaffed and, therefore, can't service all the guests properly. To make things worse, the hotel offered a 3-course Christmas dinner with wine pairing. However, it felt they had to save wine and were offering one glass per course with as much as 100ml. Please remember this hotel is near wineries and you will be making wine tastings everyday, you will receive a service in the wineries that will be way better than the one offered by the hotel.

It is such a shame because we had a huge expectation around it created by pictures and the price paid, but we left hugely disappointed. We stayed in an Airbnb later in the city and we all felt better there than in the hotel. We definitely are not looking forward to staying in a hotel from the Marriot brand ever again.

Response from AubergeTRB, Front Office Manager at Auberge du Vin, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Tupungato
Responded Jan 31, 2020
Dear Renato, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Auberge du Vin, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Tupungato and providing your honest feedback. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the appropriate hotel team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place to improve our service. As a matter of fact, we are renovating big part of our hotel to make it more comfortable to our guests. I'd like to make a small clarification regarding the issue with the driver. We are deeply sorry that you missed the tour but as it was explained at the hotel, the driver got the wrong directions from the guard at the winery not from the receptionist. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and we hope to serve you again whenever your travels bring you back to Tupungato. Best regards. Florencia Longo Front Desk Manager

The hotel is in a nice area and the people are pleasant as everyone around the area.
What concerns « gym » , it should not exist, as the machines are worn out, the bicycles have the seats torn, pedals are missing the straps and no batteries in the electronic panel. Not professional machines. Not to mention the location, inside the covered pool area, humid and stincky due to the bathrooms.
The upper terrace should be a nice place to relax, but due to the filthy conditions it is not attractive. Pillows are torn and beds are dirty and old, humid marks all over.
A pitty for such a nice place .

Auberge Du Vin is a maximum 3.5 star hotel. It should be re-branded as a standard Marriott or Marriot Courtyard. It’s nothing like other Auberge’s elsewhere in the world. Everything about this hotel (service, food, luxury, design, amenities, location, bed/pillows, comfort is 3 star). WiFi is nonexistent in the room and mediocre in the hotel lobby at best. Phone service is very spotty. The location is way off the beaten path compared to other hotels in the region. You can expect to drive a minimum of 30 minutes and in many cases one hour (and a portion of this drive is on a long dirt road) to go to wineries and restaurants. We came here specifically because it was the only hotel in the region next to a golf course (the hotel website says there’s golf on property). Upon arrival, we were told the golf course had been closed for two years! I’m not sure why they haven’t updated their website? This was a huge disappointment and simply false advertising by the hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly, and we appreciate their great service (especially the breakfast staff and the front desk). If you’re looking for an affordable hotel in the beautiful Mendoza region, this hotel is a good option for you. If you’re looking for five star luxury you are certainly better off at one of the other hotels in the area.

We stopped off for a night at Auberge du Vin on our way from Mendoza to a hotel in the mountains, and were shocked by the discrepancies between the property’s website and the actual hotel. I’m not sure I’ve ever stayed somewhere so deeply depressing before while paying so much. The design of the hotel is truly terrible - despite stunning views of the countryside the (dirty-looking) pool and restaurant are inside a “courtyard” so you can’t see anything. The impression is of a property that ran out of money before completing the construction and then hasn’t been maintained since. The staff clearly are doing their best and very pleasant but you should avoid this hotel at all costs. All the other guests seemed as bewildered and dispirited as us to have found ourselves in this total dump. Luckily for us we only wasted one night here.

The room that they asigned us hasn’t wardrobe. There isn’t a yacuzzi neither a sauna. The quality of the household was standard. Do you think for a five stars hotel must have this basics accommodations!! The view and peacefulness are the best!

My husband and I were guests at this hotel for a few days. It’s about 1-1.5 hrs away from Mendoza city center/airport depending on traffic. The hotel is beautiful and modern, the scenery and grounds are amazing, the food and drinks are superb. The staff is incredibly helpful as well.

Four things I want to mention...

1) One waitress, Diana, at the in-house restaurant was especially great. She was able to get us some off-the-menu trout ravioli for dinner one night which was so good!

2) The pool area is beautiful but there are only about 5 lounge chairs. The other seating is couch style. Not sure how busy the hotel gets in peak season but it seems as though you could easily wind up with no place to hang out! Hopefully they have some additional chairs in storage somewhere.

3) Room 202 (I think) second floor facing the back of the property has the most incredible views if you can get it! Rooms on floor 1 face the vines which also seemed neat.

4) The hotel arranged a driver, Jorge (or George he’s cool with either) who was absolutely fantastic. He lived in the US for some time and is really connected/knowledgeable with the wineries in the area. I’m attaching his contact info to this review in case anyone would like it!
