Myself and my friend got the chance to go to Ashford Castle for a two night stay. We were so excited but then there was an announcement lockdown level 5 was coming in from midnight on Wednesday and we were to be there our second night. We prayed it would be fine and it was as everything ws to close by 12.00 the following day. We arrived and well what can I say breathtaking, hospitality exceptional, welcoming, friendliness, really everything couldn't fault it. We were welcomed with the door man coming to our car and taking our bags straight away and so so friendly. Met reception staff and again just precision to detail. Got to our room what an amazing place. Just absolutely beautiful, all staff did there job so so well and couldn't be more attentive. What I will say is all staff were wearing masks because of Covid guidelines but you could see their smiles through their eyes which I think is a great asset to anyone and they all have to be commended. Thank you again all staff. You are all amazing and your all there because you all have the right personality. Loved your bikes, more comfortable than mine. Met the beautiful dogs and had photos taken. Scenery all around a must see. Would recommend anyone to make sure to stay there. Will definitely be going back. XXXX

We stayed at Ashford Castle just before the second 'lockdown' was introduced nationally. Given the various Coronavirus rules in place we thought our stay would be hindered with many protocols and inconveniences but that could not be further from the truth. From the moment we arrived at the front gate we were greeted with a warm Irish welcome. The drive down the winding road to the Castle is special in itself. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition - so first impressions were already beyond impressed. We were welcomed by a very friendly team at Reception who explained the procedures in a friendly way - as if they had been doing so for years. We were made feel at ease and were guided very well through the 'new normal'. Catherine came to speak with us with great ease, as if we were regulars which was a really lovely feeling. It was my partners birthday treat and the team were so helpful in arranging treats and surprises along the way. We enjoyed afternoon tea overlooking Lough Corrib and we had plenty of time relaxing in the gorgeous spa conservatory pool. We enjoyed a Friday night movie with popcorn and sweets in the cinema, which was within a few steps of our gorgeous room. Walks around the grounds were particularly special given the changing of seasons. We were treated like kings throughout and I am so proud to recommend this fantastic Irish hotel for anyone looking for a genuine Irish treat.

A stunning place to visit. Some interesting exclusive offers available. Expensive but well worthwhile for a special occasion. Decor is the last word with fabulous fabric wall covering and magnificent paintings throughout the interior. The staff are pleasant as you would expect. We chose the gourmet getaway which included a fine dining experience in the fabulous George V dining room. Fabulous food and wine presented by a host of experienced staff in comfortable surroundings. Our bedroom was beautiful, quiet and had a lovely view of Lough Corrib. The grounds are magnificent with beautiful walkways, steeped in history. We look forward to returning.

Ashford is, as the title suggests, an experience. The grounds in particular are unparalleled, to that end a trip in the depth of winter if you can’t enjoy them may not be as impressive. We are at Cullens at the lodge wanting a more casual evening and it was lovely. Breakfast was fabulous. It’s hard not to compare things in pre and current Covid restrictions- everything felt very safe. It’s lovely to wander through the balcony area above the Guinness room and read old letters etc. The room was a little disappointing but I can’t tell how much is Covid related - I would expect basics like a coffee machine and mini bar for the calibre of hotel - the room was the only slight disappointment. I look forward to returning in non Covid times as I suspect some of the experience is compromised (and rightly so). My only really minor note for the hotel is the reception to check in being right at the front door is cold, that was in sept so I imagine it’s v cold in winter - the check in experience is a bit tainted by being cold while doing so. Thanks for a great stay

We had a two night stay including the gourmet dinner. Every aspect of which was excellent. Highlights for me were the round of golf, the meal at Cullen's Cottage where our Waitress (sorry I forget her name) was just brilliant as was the Seafood Pasta, the cruise on Lough Corrib and the overall friendliness and genuine personality displayed by all the staff we met. The venue itself is breathtaking - we were blessed with lovely weather (see pics) which made for some lovely walks around the lake and woods. And finally the interior of the Castle - wow!
