This is a beautiful resort hotel. After staying at a few other "castle" hotels we were surprised that Ashford really is a castle. An enormous amount of investment has clearly gone into every aspect of the facility and notwithstanding the historic structure, the interior is competitive with a newly constructed luxury hotel. Service is excellent if a bit theatrical. I... More

Second visit to the grounds of the Castle. Was very impressed back in March when the gardens were extensive, well kept with many " nooks and crannies" but this time (August) the flowers and shrubs were in full bloom. If lucky its possible to glimpse the birds of pray. Mrs. T's coffee shop / boutique is a delight and Cullens... More

This Castle was one of the highlights of our 9 day trip to Ireland. The lengths that the staff go to ensure that you are highly satisfied are second to none. Breann welcomed us into the reception room and gave us a very nice tour to get us acclimated. The Castle has so many unique and wonderful details it is... More

I felt as being guest in this TV-series 'Downton Abbey': a castle in a huge and beautiful park next to a lake, a super friendly staff, an oldfashioned anbience, a spacious room with view to the park and lake (ok, we booked a Suite) - almost everybody of the staff calls you by name - you really feel being a... Truly a majestic Irish Castle. The Castle takes your breath away the minute you drive through the gates. The grounds were stunning. The staff was professional, friendly and very helpful. The food was outstanding. Be sure to ask when the Irish Wolfhounds will visit the lobby. Although a little pricey, definitely worth the money.

Stopped for lunch on the way from Donegal to Clare. Very nice casual atmosphere, nice menu with a great choice of simple, fresh appetizers and entrees. The grounds around the castle and golf course are beautiful. We did not take the ten euro tour of the castle as I didn't want to pay to watch the rich and famous frolic.

Ashford Castle is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at after forty years of travel. The location on a dreamscape of a lake, the history dating from 1228, the warm, hospitable staff make us want to return. The richly paneled walls and ceilings and the glass chandeliers are breathtaking. The rooms have every amenity one could wish for including... More

Takes you back in time while not sparing luxury or technology. I've never seen a more complimentary combination of keep the old world feel while at the same time including all of the amenities of technology that is currently available. The grounds, facilities, staff and the food are absolutely amazing. There are so many fun and interesting things to do... More

A one of a kind experience and hard to capture accurately just how magnificent it is.We approached the property from the water which allowed for incredible viewing of the property. The structure, the grounds, the rooms, the dining--all first rate and exquisitely appointed. There is so much to soak in here, not the least of which is the morning visit... More

The only fault I can find with Ashford Castle is that everything afterward feels like a crushing disappointment. After three days I had almost become accustomed to being greeted at the door by liveried gentlemen in brass buttons and top-hats, fussed over by maids in honest-to-goodness Downton Abbey-style uniforms (with the frilly aprons and little pleated caps! When one came... More
