Nestled near the beach and Kos center, Continental Palace offers a vibrant atmosphere and a prime location that's just a short walk or bus ride from local attractions, earning it praise from numerous guests. While the hotel is commended for its cleanliness and the spacious pool area, some reviewers express concerns over the outdated decor and the need for more modern amenities.
Opinions on the value offered are mixed, with issues such as noise in rooms, firm beds, and hidden costs sometimes overshadowing the reasonable pricing. Additionally, while many guests have encountered friendly staff, service experiences have varied.

Detailed Reviews
We have stayed in Psalidi a few times and we like that’s is a short walk from kos town but the hotels tend to be a bit quieter and more spacious than the offerings within kos town itself. This hotel is in a great location, right opposite the harbour and just a few minutes walk into the town.
We would usually choose to stay in a self-catering/room only hotel as we like to eat out at the different local restaurants. However, when we booked this hotel was cheaper than all the self-catering options so we booked it assuming that we would still eat out. We ate in the restaurant once at breakfast time and twice in the evening. It was fine, there wasn’t loads of choice but we aren’t fussy eaters and found something we liked. The
Dinning experience gave me serious school dinner vibes however. It was cheap mass produced food served in a busy, noisy dinning hall.
The room was nice enough. The en-suite was probably the nicest bathroom I’ve seen in Greece. The maids came every day although some days they just left the sheets folded up in a pile at the end of the bed so we had to make it ourselves. The bedding consisted of a sheet and a thicker blanket on top. Both of our blankets had blood stains on them and weren’t changed once in two weeks. A lot of other people have commented that the beds were really hard and uncomfortable; this was my experience too.
The pool was nice but probably not big enough for the amount of guests and there were definitely not enough sun loungers. There were a lot of selfish guests who would reserve sun loungers for the whole day but only use them for a very short period of time/ not at all. There was a sign asking people not to do this.
Overall, I wouldn’t rush to come back but wouldn’t avoid it if we got a similar cheap deal.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 1 week from the 26th Sept
Reception:
Reception staff very polite, your room does not use a card to swipe to open it is an old style magnetic key, this means air con etc cannot be used when not in the room to keep it cool. Also the key is heavy so you can leave in reception when you go out and collect later.
Rooms:
Rooms are adequate but basic, old style wood furniture, safe will cost you 20 euros a week and the beds and very uncomfortable, this isn't an understatement.
When the rooms are cleaned each day the cleaners leave the balcony doors open and inevitably mosquitos come into the room at this time. Frustrating as the day we arrived we had many mosquitoes in the room and this was disappointing.
The hotel also still has the old original piping so toilet paper cannot be flushed so must be placed in a bin nearby, a bidet is available though.
We also found silverfish in our bathroom too.
Pool:
Pool area has many sunbeds around the pool and also the grassy areas too.
The pool is freezing cold and has no heat at all, the sea was warmer.
The outside bar has a meal each day which is on offer, from burger to gyros to souvlaki
Food:
Food was very basic and overcooked, always had salad options which was nice and the food was ok for an occasional visit but if you come here you are best to eat out. plenty of nice places opposite the hotel or into the town.
Cleanliness:
The hotel was clean and the standard was maintained, the communal areas were also kept nice and clean, the groundsman was always tidying the plants etc to keep them nice.
Location:
The location is quite nice and quiet, it has a few small beaches nearby and the marina on its doorstep , it is about a 20 minute walk to Kos Town and this is a nice walk with paths the whole way, a bike rental shop is next door to the hotel and bikes are as cheap as 5 euros a day and there is a bicycle path the whole way to the town too.
Overall we are happy with our stay at the Continental palace based on the price we paid, it is definitely in need of a refurb. Cliental are generally a bit older and we overhead many conversations from people saying they had been staying here for many years so I guess they are catering for them.
Kos was beautiful but I cannot really recommend this hotel based on the comfort of the beds and the quality of food, we wouldn't stay here again as the bed comfort really impacted on our enjoyment of the holiday.

overall the holiday was fine. There is a few things that could do with changing as I’ve been elsewhere in places I prefer.
Good points are you don’t really have to fight for a sunbed like other hotels so that was a bonus. The staff in the hotel are all VERY friendly so that is amazing! It is in a prime position only half hour ish away from Kos town so in walking distance& there is a beach straight across from the resort. The food has option for tea time food but for breakfast there wasn’t much option other than sausage bacon and beans which is more or less what I ate everyday. Things that need changing are the rooms they are very outdated and one of the drawers wouldn’t shut as it was stuck. The beds are not comfy at all I struggled to properly sleep while here. The aircon we had in our room wasn’t great and occasionally spat things out. 3 days out of our holiday we had no hot water so had to have quick cold showers(which were painful). The hotel has no music around the pool or much entertainment on at all and for a family hotel this is a big let down. Having people in to do shows and aerobics or water games through the day would make this hotel more enjoyable as it was boring through the day and night so went into the town most nights. On our last night we didn’t fly home till early hours (1:45am) and our evening meal we had to pay €18 for even though we didn’t check out till late. Overall the hotel is ok and relaxing but needs a major upgrade with the rooms and entertainment as these are major for me. I wouldn’t return but I would like to thank the lovely staff that work there as they are all lovely and friendly.

A late review as we stayed in September 24. Reasonably good value for the price paid (via TUI). Friendly, helpful staff. Clean room with a fridge; quiet, efficient aircon unit was included in price (and essential with early September daytime temperatures 30s and evening 20s C); reasonable side sea view; beds very firm. Food generally good with reasonable choice; plenty of sunbeds by the pool and on lawns. Relaxed, quiet pool area; reasonable size pool with lifeguard. This hotel is more suitable for older couples than families with children (as meagre playground, no apparent children’s entertainment or daytime activities in September; charges for use of table tennis and pool table; no shallow end in the pool for small children although separate paddling pool).
Beach close to the hotel is a small stretch of sand with pebbles at water edge; sheltered and fine for swimming but no beach sunbeds (nearby bar/restaurant overlooking the sea offers sunbeds for their patrons).10 minute stroll on the level into charming Kos Town with its boat trips and day trip by ferry (30 mins) to Bodrum, Turkey (remember your passport!) with its Tuesday clothing market (if you’re interested, always ask Euro price first, then offer very low, haggle hard and be ready to walk away! No problem paying with UK Pounds or Euros if spending cash there). Bodrum Castle is adjacent to the ferry terminal and the market a 10 mins walk away.
A few hotel downsides. No hot water for half of the hotel including our room for 2 days awaiting system repair. One of the restaurant staff was curt (the others were always very friendly and helpful); gluten free meal options were very limited and accurate gluten free labelling would be advisable; inadequate aircon in the dining room - would be better if breakfast and dinner had the option of tables outside. The evening ‘meal’ for late flight arrivals was an abysmal snack. Evening entertainment was only 4 nights each week, (one was Karaoke, one a Greek music/dancing night, but two nights featured good singers including an exceptional guitarist). Furnishings in Bar lounge are tired/dated.
Overall an enjoyable hotel. Thank you Irene on Reception desk for all your assistance.

the hotel is situated in an ideal location - a 5 minute bus ride from kos town and across the road no further than 50mtrs from the hotel perimeter , is a shingle beach , from the waters edge onwards is a sandy base that gradually gets deeper and i would describe as a safe swimming area .
the hotel is large and is spotlessly clean throughout , there is a childrens paddling pool and an above averagely large swimming pool that is surrounded with sunbeds , plus around the pool area are some large grassy areas , sprinkled with trees that offer welcoming shade during the hot weather , once again with plenty of sunbeds available .
our room was spacious and comfortable , there was no charge for thefridge , tv and air con plus our maids did an excellent daily job of cleaning and tidying .
with regard to the food , we are all aware of the sudden global increased price of food etc. and with other hotels that we have stayed at this year, are struggling to keep within their budget and meals are not as good as last year.
however there was always an excellent of choice of food that was continually being refilled and judging by the piles of food that was being piled by the hotel guests on their plates , there was not much disappointment , in fact we thoroughly enjoyed every meal that we had in the hotel. once again all the staff were superb in the dining room , in particular the slim lady waitress with blond hair did not stop chasing around attending to everything and there was rarely a queue to get a table . although i did agree that drinks were a bit expensive.
finally the front desk was organised very efficiantly and can most definitely say that i have never met a more friendlier and helpful receptionist than irenie

Here at the hotel at the moment.
Arrived after 1am to find 2 bags of sandwiches, fruit and water for us and the children as we had been travelling all day. A lovely touch and great start to the holiday. Room is on the 3rd floor with an amazing view and lovely little balcony looking out over pool, harbour and towards Turkey. The room is a little dated but no different to plenty of Travelodge rooms we have stayed in, there are bunk beds for the children with guard rail and twin beds pushed together for us adults. Beds are creaky but not too annoying. We needed more pillows and asked for toppers as the mattresses are quite hard and it was accommodated instantly.
One of our children is vegan and we had emailed ahead, we have met a few times with the Chef and he has been brilliant at accommodating our son and ensuring he has plenty of options. I would say to people complaining that if they had actually addressed their issues whilst here, I really feel that nothing is too much trouble. Pool is open 10-6 (because of lifeguard)but you can get in earlier but by 6 everyone is getting ready for the evening meal. The pool itself is clean and there are not issues really with rubbish, only messy if lazy people wander off without tidying up after themselves. That said they could do with a couple more bins around the pool. There is a small restaurant at the pool where you can buy drinks, ice creams and lunch. Outside and 30 seconds to the right is a small shop where he must make a fortune from everyone buying water, snacks and beer!
Breakfast is tasty and plenty of options with a lovely lady cooking fresh eggs and omelette and all the meat, cheese, olives, bacon, sausages etc you could want. Drinks are included with breakfast but not with evening meal. In the evening you have buffet choice and a waiter takes your drinks order and bills your table. There is plenty of options, always chips and something for fussy youngsters and lots of salad and all sorts of tasty things to try. There is a bar with ample indoor and outdoor seating, tv, and pool, table tennis and air hockey all €1/2. There is not entertainment every night but personally that suits us absolutely fine.
The beach opposite is very small and craggy but lovely, a look on Google maps will soon show you what to expect.

The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.
Our twin room was plenty big enough with a small fridge and an en suite bathroom including a bath/shower. The balcony had a table and chairs but no line for drying swimming things.
The mattresses were very hard, however, to the extent that I found it difficult to get to sleep each night.
The air conditioning in the bedroom was very efficient and not too noisy, albeit none seemed to be in use in the hotel's public rooms, such as the dining room.
The buffet food is good, considering this is mass catering. We always found a table quickly. No drinks of any sort, including water, are supplied free in the evening.
The swimming pool is clean and inviting. Most people seem to use it to play ball games or stand around rather than swim. We always found sun beds either near the pool or on the lawns.
The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Kos Town and there is a small public beach across the main road immediately opposite the hotel that is good for swimming. There are a couple of small supermarkets/corner shops within a few minutes walk where you can buy bottled water and other limited supplies.

After reading all the reviews before travelling I was a little daunted by booking this hotel.
Please give this hotel a try. We were half board and the food was plentiful and delicious. The staff were efficient in clearing the tables as the dinning room was filled with guests.
The lobby/bar area are very nice and there are plenty of sun beds scattered around on the grass area and pool area. We didn’t eat at the snack bar so I can’t comment about that. The reception team were very helpful in advising us about the local bus service and the ferries to Turkey.
The walk into Kos town is not very taxing and an easy walk. Please be mindful of the pedal bikes here, they are everywhere!!
I would have given this hotel 5 stars but there is a number of issues. Firstly there is not enough toasters/hot drink machines in the dining area. The queue is very long.
The rooms are extremely dated, the beds are very hard and the rooms need painting and replacing of furniture. Housekeeping came in every day to tidy and change towels which was very good.
There is no kettle, so please bring your own if you want a drink in your room.
There is a tourist tax of 7 euros per night and a safe charge of 20 euros per week
Entertainment is 4 times per week.
Overall a good value holiday and the weather was gorgeous.

Great hotel for a reasonable price. Our twin room had a double bed and a single bed, fridge, hairdryer, balcony and a safe (for €20). Our room was immaculately clean. The breakfast had various options (cooked breakfast, meats, cheese, cereals, yoghurt, pancakes, cake and coffee). The staff were very helpful and friendly - especially the staff cleaning the rooms! The pool is a decent size and there’s plenty of sunbeds (even dotted around the green spaces for those wanting a bit more peace and quiet). The snack bar has a great menu with gyros for €4. I’ve been to Greece 4/5 times now and this hotel wasn’t flashy but equally wasn’t outdated like some places - it was classic Greek and we had a lovely time. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel because of the reasonable price!
Nearby facilities include a local shop, some restaurants and bike hire - €5 for the day is great as Kos Town is a 20/30 minute walk away but super quick on a bike. Kos is covered in bike lanes so you can get around the town in no time. I’d recommend “Food and Mood” opposite the Hotel with a quiet small pebble beach next to it - they do nice brunch and it’s a great spot by the sea to relax and people watch. Also, go to the open air cinema on an evening (on the way into town). The films are in english and tickets were only €8 each - it was such a unique experience, 10/10.

We just returned from a week at the continental, the hotel has very nice and well-kept common areas. The rooms especially the bathroom are a bit old and need a renovation. As for the catering the food was good and varied the maitre d' very kind and nice. The negative things I found are few the prices of the bar a bit 'high and the absence of someone from the staff who speaks Italian. The evenings were pleasant cheered by talented and different artists every night. The center of kos is within easy walking distance and in front of the hotel we have the convenient bus stop to get around the island. The beach is small but nice and there is the possibility to take advantage of both the free one and paid beaches including Recommendation by nikos among other great place to eat a great snack for lunch. A gem of the hotel is definitely , for those of us who leave in the evening, and the opportunity to take a shower near the luggage storage before leaving. Thanks to all the staff.
