Came to this wonderful Resort but when I arrived was after making the reservation on groupon the manager a woman which I have no idea what her name is due to the fact she never came to the reception it was informed to Diego a receptionist who handled the situation as best as possible. Manager should be terminated she was the one who placed my reservation in the hotel located on fifth ave because it was booked thru groupon and the hotel was over booked. The hotel on fifth Ave was small like a hostel and dirty floors were filthy and tub had grime on it. The area was full of locals offering drugs. To compensate for the hardship Diego offered a birthday package and the service received from Johanna and Angel was exceptional they made the trip all better. But the Manager needs to be reprimanded for her actions of booking at another hotel from the site utilized for booking then leaves the poor employees to deal with the situation....poor managerial skills... Diego should be the new manager. More businesses would progress because he knows how to manage. Therefore make the effort to call and conform the reservation from the website is reserved correctly otherwise it will be a horror story. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and room was exceptionally clean. Thank you Diego, Joanna and Angel for compensating my horror and making it wonderful. You are what customer service is all about.

We stayed for a week which was very relaxing. The only downside was no bar or anything to do in the evening. We went to Playa Del Carmen three evening for some bars. Sarah the pool bar waiter was amazing and waited on us hand and foot each say making sure we had food and drinks all throughout the day. She really was the best member of staff. Very attentive and friendly

I will start with what we liked. The rooms are huge. The food is delicious. The beach right in front is rocky but the infinite pool is large and there is beach access on either side of the hotel. The issues: We arrived late at night and were told our room was not ready. No big deal it happens. The bed didn't have sheets only a comforter which made us realize it was kinda warm in the room. We asked for sheets but never got them. The AC is locked to 72F/ 22C. We phoned to have it lowered and were told the AC doesn't go lower. This is not an issue during the day but when you are laying in a bed with only a comforter it's hot! The first night we arrived the only restaurant was short staffed so it took an hour to get our food. We understood that happens. Unfortunately the four nights we stayed at this hotel the service was atrocious. I remember the last morning we were at this hotel we went to the restaurant at 10AM, we didn't get our order in until 10:30 and didn't get our food until 10:50AM and we had our shuttle scheduled for 11AM. The restaurant had only one other table so they weren't busy. There are two restaurants in this hotel and the food is delicious but it is very limited and they both aren't always open. It takes forever to get drinks that we started to order 2 or 3 drinks at a time which then meant we had watery drinks from the ice melting. They started construction at 8AM right outside of our room the first morning we woke up at this hotel. Not how you want to wake up on vacation. Even a warning would have gone a long way. We got moved to our correct room the second day and the TV was broken. It turned on but the colors were off to where you couldn't tell what was on, it took all day for them to get someone to fix it. Again the AC is locked to 72F/22C. At night I realized the black out curtain was missing. I went to the front desk and the guy there told me "We don't guarantee black out shades for our rooms" I gave him a face of disbelief. I ended up closing the hurricane doors to keep the sun out when we wanted to sleep in.The water pressure in the shower was intermittent, I've stayed at budget hotels in the Riviera Maya with consistent water pressure. They offer a large outdoor tub in the patio but it's not filled with water and it takes a long time to get someone to come out and fill it. The tubs are not heated and since they are shaded the entire day, the water stays uncomfortably cold so we never used it. Pointless. They didn't always stock the snack bar which is part of the all inclusive package we bought. Sometimes we got one can of coke other times not at all. Another thing which doesn't affect our stay but I am engineer and I noticed it all over the hotel. This hotel I can tell was nice at one point but they have not kept up with maintenance. There are tiles falling off and missing from the facade and from the pool. Big chunks of tiles missing. There is rust at every steel post throughout the hotel even in the steel sculpture in the entrance of the hotel.

We booked this trip on a whim and got an excellent deal for a last vacation before winter. The rooms are big and spacious though there’s a need to brush up on some items in the rooms (small signs of worn out mirror, door, countertop). Both phones in our rooms were unplugged when we got there and then completely discharged when the time of need came. But all these were minor things. The infinity pool is gorgeous but you need to reserve the cabanas (30usd per day). Very nice and comfortable but the service for our drinks was just as slow as for everyone else. The view was beautiful. Seeing the water from your room is just priceless for me and we were spoiled with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. If you want to go swimming, I strongly suggest to bring water shoes because there are a lot of rocks. No beach space in front of the hotel at all (or available chairs) so you need to walk over to the neighboring hotel to have one (which you need to rent, obviously). The waiters: Carlos, Nilo and Andrea were fantastic. Thank you so very much! They remembered what we preferred and made sure we were satisfied. Always ready to accommodate with their smiles and willingness to go above and beyond to make your experience a pleasant one. There’s only 2 restaurants on the resort: one of which isn’t open every night. During the day it’s a snack bar (which closed at 5:00, and opened at 11:00) and the restaurant on the rooftop which closes at 11:00. So no food/drinks available outside of those hours. The menu, though limited (very often the same and with very little variations) was overly compensated by the staff’s excellent service and the chef’s versatility. We were 3 vegetarians in a party of 4 so we were the complicated bunch. When booking excursions (if not done through the hotel) to mention that it’s Senses Riviera Maya by Artisan (not the one in Playa Del Carmen). We found out the hard way. The resort isn’t on the main strip, there is a certain distance to walk to get to the main road. It’s a very quite hotel, perfect for relaxing and recuperating. There isn’t any animation except the music playing at the restaurant and where the hot tubs are. We usually go to bigger resorts where there is some night life but this was a welcome change. Overall it was a wonderful trip and we would’ve gone back there if it wasn’t for our friend’s checkout experience. Three days prior, we went off the resort on an excursion and they dirtied the bath rug, 2 towels and 2 hand towels (when they came back to the hotel and showered). When checking out, they had some 75 usd charge. They had broken a small cup but 75USD seemed pretty excessive. After arguing, they reduced it to 53 USD. What I didn’t like was first their argument was we need to clean those and it will be that expensive. Then it changed to, “they’re too damaged we need to get new ones”. We had to leave at 12:00, and when asked to speak to the manager, we were told they would only be there at 2:00. Another couple was charged an exorbitant amount for some makeup on the towels. It’s not the guests fault if the hotel doesn’t provide towels for the beach or the pool and they were fined for using it...at the hotel. It’s upsetting and we felt like they got screwed over. It’s truly a shame because we really liked the hotel, despite the little things here and there. The staff was amazing but the management turned us off.
