The Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham, a Trademark All Inclusive hotel, garners praise for its cleanliness, boasting daily room servicing and pristine facilities, although some guests have encountered housekeeping issues. While the vibrant atmosphere brimming with entertainment appeals to many, others seeking tranquility may find it too lively. The accommodations, criticized for being outdated, often come across as needing renovation and more consistent amenities.
Service quality varies widely, with accolades for the staff's friendliness contrasting reports of sluggish responses. Moreover, guests find the value proposition undermined by subpar food and drink offerings and additional fees. Amenities receive mixed reviews, with beach features generally satisfying but dissatisfaction noted with dining options and inconsistent Wi-Fi.

Detailed Reviews
I came here on a Tui package holiday but there was no support during my stay and it was hard to get information from staff at hotel as to activities taking place, how to book restaurants etc. On arrival for example I was literally given my key and a map of resort and told to speak to guest services the following day which was hard as a queue.
The beach location is stunning, beautiful clean beaches, palm trees for shade and plenty of sun loungers by pool and beach. All areas of resort were also very clean and well kept and the room although a little dated was large with decent sized balcony overlooking the gardens. The only noise at night came from the geese and ducks in the gardens which was better than blaring music.
The buffet restaurants are ok, plenty of choice of salads and fish and meat from the grills etc but apart from the Dominican food restaurant all the other a la carte restaurants I ate in were not good at all with tiny portions, undercooked and over cooked fish and meat and no seasoning so the evenings were very disappointing. One night I went outside the hotel to a local restaurant where I had really good lobster which put the hotel's attempts to shame.
There were activities going on around pool and central shopping areas but never saw any kind of timetable as to what was on when and when I asked about excursions there was very little choice if you wanted an English speaking one and as I was on my own the staff didn't seem too keen to help me when got a family waiting for info.
Overall although the beach area was great I wouldn't recommend this place if you like your food as being all inclusive it's hard to go outside the resort for meals when you have effectively already paid for them at the hotel. I also didn't feel particularly valued by the staff in general although the lady who cleaned my room was very friendly.

We checked into Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace for a 30th annaversary gettaway. The lobby was nice and the grounds were well kept. The 1st room was disappointing, we had booked a superior ocean front king what we go was a standard ocean front with 2 queens and the room looked nothing like what is pictured on any travel site. We went back to the front dest and showed them what we had booked and at 1st they said they were all the same. I pulled of pictures from their site and my booking and the story changed, they didn't have them available but 1 would be tomorrow, so we agreed to the move the next day. That night we leared of another dissapointment. At 10:30pm on the adjacent property, Viva Dominicus Beach they started a party, so for the next 2 hours were heard boom, boom, boom constantly, later we found out from a Viva member that it occures every night, and it did our entire stay. So you pay for the ocean front to have it spoiled by that every night. The next day we moved to a much nicer room, still not as pictured but on par with what was shown. We still heard the party every night and had to sleep with earplugs which didn't completely shut it out.
On to other things. The grounds were well kept. The beaches were very nice and clean, though this resort was awash in europeans so more smoking than we would like and they ignored the signs on the trees. The property has it's own dive shop that has a very nice staff that can set you up for helmet dives, beach and boat dives and the locations are all very close. I did a nice beach dive from their pier that went to Viva Shallows reef at 25 ft.
The restaurants were hit or miss. Atlantas, seafood, great. La Rocca, very nice. Palito De Coco, Dominican, outstanding, best cheesecake. Il Palco, Italian, very good. Viva Mexico, mexican, not really, ok. Viva Cafe, on the beach, various food, ok. 2 buffets on the property, both have the same food, a very nice variety of foods, they can be a little over run in the AM and lunch due to everyone at the buffets.
The staff was very friendly and helpful though english is in short supply, but every thing we need or asked for was taken care of. The bartenders were inconsistent from bar to bar, how many ways can 1 drink be made , at least 10.
Last thing, as with many of these properties, many things look nice at 1st glance or at a distance, but up close you see the poor quality of workmanship on things. The 2nd room we were in was very nice however the glass door to the balcony patio was falling apart if you pulled on the wrong part and didn't completely close unless wedged, fixtures in the bathroom were ready to fall off the wall, tp hoolders in numerous bathroms on the property were falling off.

Fantastic holiday here. Having read the reviews I was hesitant, but need not have worried. First impressions of the room were basic and I was a little disappointed, but actually the beds were very comfy, it was beautifully clean and the location of the room was very central, handy and quiet. All the staff were very polite and could understand English well, we never had any problem conversing with anyone ( and they were very helpful with my schoolgirl Spanish!).The food in the bookable restaurants was wonderful, the main dining room was a bit of a cattle market at breakfast time, due to the volume of people and the table clearing staff struggled to keep up. We only used the main Yucca restaurant for breakfast and lunches, plenty of choice and lots of local food to try. The gardens were beautiful and the pools and bar well kept. The only things we didn’t not like were the men in green shirts who were constantly haranguing us to go to the Viva meeting (to get us to become members), and the unnecessarily loud music round the pool every morning (entertainment team). The pool was beautiful but we were forced to move to a quieter place once they had started their daily routine. However, there was always plenty of space everywhere, so there was no bagging of sun beds in any of the areas. The bars were all great, and it was ideal to be able to use every bar/snack bar/restaurant both in the hotel and the Dominicus Beach. We made bookings for the different restaurants every night and had some fabulous meals (disappointed with Latino Fusion, but had a particularly great night in Il Palco). The beach was great, water was clear and no problem with seaweed. If you are desperate to speak English and eat chips, then this hotel is not for you (go to Benidorm), but I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel if you appreciate beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms, as much or as little entertainment as you want, great food & drink, polite staff and a great ambience.

We stayed at the Dominicas Palace for 11 nights and overall had a good holiday but it could have been excellent. There are a lot of positives but a few niggles let it down
The room was nice and spacious but then you had to pay $2 a night for the safe. In all the other all inclusive hotels the safe has been free. The coffee shop is a nice touch and serves lovely coffee and cakes. However the food in the buffet restaurant is very hit and miss with some strange combinations. The breakfast was poor compared to other hotels I have stayed in the Dominican Republic. The specialty restaurants are a nice touch but again can be hit and miss. The Atlantis was fantastic and the staff had a personal touch. The elder gentleman that served us was fantastic. Unfortunately I have forgotten his name. However the service and food in the Italian restaurant was very poor. You had to pay for the wine which was overpriced and it was not explained that you could add the cost to your room and pay for it at checkout. My partner went to get the money then at the end of the meal they just said it would be charged to the room to be paid at checkout.
Overall the majority of the staff are friendly and helpful but there was very little information given at check in. We were given a map and told the safe was $2 a day and that was it. Someone helped with the luggage and they were much more informative.
The WIFI is free but totally unreliable. I have never come across such poor connections.
There is a limit on one small bottle of water for each person a day which is ridiculous as you cannot use the tap water. You can buy more but should not have too.
There is a nice selection of shops on the site and these are reasonably priced.
There are reps trying to sell you VIP packages but will leave you alone if you state you are not interested. There are certain areas that only VIP status can access but it did not seem to be worth the extra. However at times you did feel that you were treated as inferior.
Overall we had a good holiday but it could have been great. I have stayed with other hotel chains and the service has been much better unfortunately I am not able to recommend this particular chain.

When booking this resort I had the Viva Boomer Package along with my husband’s birthday. With these we were entitled to certain “perks”. We received nothing. On checking with Beatrice Pichardo at Guest Services I was told my travel agent never arranged for these. I showed her my confirmation with my reservation number and everything was listed right there. I was told there is nothing the resort would do. I had 19 people traveling with me, everyone had purchased excursions as well as wines with dinner. I felt that Beatrice could have been much more accommodating, she said she contacted Nordine Bahraini, the manager and he said no allowances would be given.
Aside from that I will say the resort is beautiful, most of the restaurants were excellent with the exception of the Mexican. It would have been nice if we could have booked our reservations for dinner at the same time, but could not. The beach is perfect, but don’t except to reserve a beach chair by placing your towel on it as others will come along, throw your towel in the sand and take the chair. This happened several times. There were plenty of activities that kept our group occupied, ages ranged from 6 - 74!
Rooms were basic, but nice, cleaned everyday. We upgraded to an ocean view that was lovely. The woman working the coffee shop in the morning was awesome!!!! With the exception of guest services the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The beach and grounds were immaculate. There were plenty of public restrooms so you did not have to go back to the room every time. The resort is easy to navigate.
Our group of 19, from all over the United States said they would definitely return to this resort. I think it is commendable that this resort was able to make everyone in our group happy, just don’t except any extra “perks” that you were promised.

Pros:
Besides the natural beach sand and water it does not meet average standards
Beach crew Eduardo at catamaran very nice friendly guy 5+
Cons
Room outdated, very poorly maintained, tiny tv , bathroom always wet from shower. Sink faucet put together by thick caulk no appeal in room. Garden view
Food
Breakfast: cafeteria low options, no bacon no smoked salmon fish, lines at stations, lots of plates poorly washed greasy
Lunch same buffet , almost no juices ( lemonade and orange) for kids and extremely watered down
Dinner same
Restaurants are fairly well, staff friendlier more polite. Food served faster better quality
Overall could only serve 4 restaurants per week per policy and tough to get times that you want although places don’t seem to be fully booked.
🚨 of a company of 40+ people at least one in every family had been sidelined for a day with some stomach bug 🤢
Overall👎
I won’t be returning to resort for that money we paid. I assure there are other options. Comment below with you contact if you want more detailed review

This incredible all inclusive resort had everything you could ever want in a Caribbean vacation. There is a massive beach with impeccable sand, calm clean water, with thousands of fish of all kinds that you could see without the need of a mask. Despite thousands of people from all over the world here and being sold out, we could always find comfortable chez lounges both at the beach and at one of the many pools. The variety of incredible restaurants made all of our meals a great delicious experience. You never had to wait for anything. All kinds of activities are available at no charge. We chose to do daily gentle yoga at the beach each morning and a combo Tai Chi/yoga at sunset, also on the beach. Deb, the English speaking instructor from NRG2GO lead an wonderful and energized class that was tailored to the needs of whomever participants were, whether they were fellow yogis or children and Dads doing it for their first time.
I have to also say a huge thank you to the incredible staff who all work so hard but you can truly tell love their jobs. One newly hired person at the costumer care desk told us they have made him feel like he is part of one big family there, all workers supporting each other to ensure the guest feel they are special.

Two stars for the resort and our room! We stayed in the Palace side. We had a beautiful room nice room at a prime location, right in front of the beach. Room and scenery was exactly what we researched and imagined.
Service was terrible! Housekeeping only came into our room once within a 5 day stay. And even at that, we spilled ketchup on our comforter, they did not even bother changing it out. Just made the bed with a dirty comforter. We kept having to call and ask for towels because they were not being replenished. Either it would take over an hour to get some, or they wouldn’t come at all and just had to reuse what we had.
The employees were not very friendly. When we’d come across any of them around the property, they just look at you and stare almost with a “what are you doing here?” look. None of them greeted you as you passed by, which is unlike any other tourist resort I’ve been to.
Prior to going on the trip, I called the resort to ensure they had pumps for our 4 inner tubes, and they confirmed that they would be able to take care of it for us. The first full beach day my husband and I went to get tubes inflated, not a single employee wanted to help. Went to one hut where they had life jackets and other rentals, they told us no and sent us to the towel hut. We went to the towels, told us no and that we had to go to the other rental hut to get it done (which was on the beach resort side of the property and about a 5 minute walk.) Upon asking the guy for help, just showing him the inner tubes, was already shaking his head no. The entire time I was explaining what I was asking for and going through, never stopped shaking his head and just told us to go to one of the shops. SO, we went to the shop and they still told us no. At this point we had left our kids at the beach alone for 30 minutes already, we were pretty upset with how they continued to tell us no, and didn’t bother to help. So we went to the front desk and they still told us no because they didn’t have the pump. After listening to our rant about everyone sending us around for an hour, the smart thing to do would’ve been to call wherever the pump was, ensure it was there and send us to it. Nope. Luckily, there was actually one employee who offered to help and blew one up for us by mouth (the way we were avoiding considering how hot it was) but there was no way we’d let him do all the tubes. GRACIAS RONNY!
The food… let me try to keep this one short. COLD! Not many good options.
Also, communication was pretty bad. Better brush up on your Spanish because most of the employees don’t speak much English.
I was a little worried after reading some reviews on here but I really didn't need to be. The food was nice and actually better than I expected for all inclusive. The staff were helpful and always looking after you. I would like to give a special mention to Besaida at the Palace pool bar. She deserves a pay rise! She serves with a smile and is such a hard worker. The location and beaches are amazing and only a short boat ride from the hotel pier which is definitely recommended. There were a couple of guys who worked in resort that made me feel a little uncomfortable but a firm no does the trick. The only thing to mention was that the air conditioning in the rooms is poor and the sheets constantly felt damp as you couldn't cool the room properly. There was a dehumidifier in the room but it filled within hours and required emptying which was rather annoying beeping in the middle of the night! We were also left without towels in our room for two days. The lock on the door broke but the service to fix it was quick and we were not left waiting. The hotel offers a range of water sports and activities with some great evening entertainment. The only thing I would say entertainment wise is that sometimes when you want to relax a little, the music is so loud it doesn't allow you to. The wildlife and surroundings at this hotel is amazing and we were always seeing new animals make an appearance. I also read reviews about the lack of English speaking staff and guests but we heard many English and American guests particularly in our second week. Most staff also understood the basic English it takes for you to be served and there was always a few members of staff to help out if someone didn't quite understand you. You will constantly be asked to have a massage. We eventually gave in and at just shy of £35 it was worth it. Despite the few minor issues we had whilst we were away, we feel they were nothing in comparison to the overall holiday we enjoyed at viva wyndham and would definitely go back. I really do hope the praise is passed to Besaida also as she was a particular person who made our stay with at the hotel so enjoyable. We hope to be back some day soon!

The place is a paradise. The beach, the pools and the food were great.
But we payed for a room with view to the beach and didnt get one. As compensation they gave us a dinner with lobster. That would have been fine, but the room was small and we had to ask for the towels and soaps nearly every day.
The high point are in the animation. José in particular was great teaching our kids how to walk on the paddle boards.
