Actually, I try to see the positive things first but this hotel makes it impossible. Due to Covid it was closed for a longer time. Now they still renovate it. I really don't know why this hotel got 5 stars. Ok, I know 5 stars in the Caribbean are not really 5 stars, so I did not have high expectations. But here I felt like I got fooled. The room is very big, the bed is comfortable and the wi-fi connection is good but there is not enough space for clothes. So mainly I had them in my suitcase. Also you can't dry your things. There is nothing were you can put the wet towles and swimsuits... which is pretty weird for a beach hotel. There is no toilet brush in the bathroom. And I really missed a "do not disturb" sign for the door. The cleaning lady comes in... does a few things. Two hours later she comes back and does a bit more etc. If you want to use the safe in your room you have to pay 3,50 $ per day! In a 5 star hotel it should be included! Now let's come to a few positive things here. The pool and the beach are very beautiful. Unfortunately, they serve every drink in a one way plastic cup with a plastic straw. There is so much waste produced. It is a nightmare. You see it all over the Dominican Republic. I think it should be possible to use reusable plastic cups even if it means someone has to clean them! Most of the staff here is very bored and they only get motivated when you give them a tip first. Last but not least I would like to talk about the food and restaurants. Honestly, it is a pure desaster! I am so sorry to say but the food is disgusting. Normally, I am not very picky. When I ate outside it was so delicious all the times. No clue why the hotel is not even able to cook noodles with a sauce in a tasty way. About the restaurants I can only say, you have to book them in advance. That is only possible between 7:00 - 7:30 in the morning for the same day! Another couple told me, they tried to do so at 6:40 but everything was booked already. I heard so many good things about all the other hotels here in Bayahibe. So if you look for a nice place, go to another hotel but DON'T chose the Be Live Collection Canoa. I never say such things about a hotel... but here I felt I really need to warn the people. I am so sorry for this review, but it is the ugly truth. I gave at least two points for the pool and the beach...…
Very poor nutrition, as well as the organization of registration in restaurants, alcohol was running out, there were few service personnel, the cleaning was not very good, the beach was smaller, the beach was not cleaned and the sunbeds were not melted, the pool was dirty

I had a really wonderful time at Be Live Collection Canoa. Honestly, based on the previous reviews I thought it was going to be disaster but I don't know what the people who wrote those reviews were smoking because my experience was wonderful. Isidro went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The food was excellent (especially loved the Mexican night), the beach is spectacular as is the pool. We loved Maria who worked at the a la carte restaurant. The resort is not fully open yet - Yes - but we are in a pandemic. Everything that was open was really great.
